Issues to Address
1) No “Recently used templates” when adding a page
Issue: When adding a page, GoodNotes doesn’t show recently used templates—it mainly suggests templates “most like the previous page.”
Why it’s annoying: Adding pages becomes slower and repetitive if you rotate between the same few templates.
Request: Add a “Recently used templates” row (and ideally let users pin a few templates there).
2) Favorites are too hidden
Issue: Favorite pages aren’t quick to access.
Why it’s annoying: Favoriting loses its purpose if it still takes extra taps to find the pages you marked as important.
Request:
Add a Favorite button in the main toolbar for quick access
Add a dedicated “Favorites” section inside the Page Navigator
3) “Show custom outline” should be the default in Page Navigator
Issue: The Page Navigator doesn’t default to the outline structure the user created.
Why it’s annoying: You constantly have to reselect “Show custom outline,” even though that’s the main navigation method.
Request: Make “Show custom outline” the default option (or allow a user setting for the default view).
4) Text tool feels clunky
Issue: Copy/paste, selecting text, and typing across pages doesn’t feel smooth or reliable.
Why it’s annoying: The friction breaks flow and makes typed notes feel like a worse experience than handwriting.
Request: Improve the text tool to behave more like Google Docs:
Auto-add pages as text grows (no manual page management)
Smoother transitions across pages when selecting/typing/erasing
More reliable copy/paste behavior
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your ideas.
It currently includes multiple suggestions, which makes it harder for us and other users to discuss, vote on, and track each idea individually properly.
If you’d like, please feel free to submit each idea separately, or add your vote to existing ideas that match what you’re suggesting.
For example, for the custom outline you can join that idea.
That really helps us understand what matters most to the community.
Thanks again for sharing and for helping make the forum better!
