Audio recording that syncs with handwritten notes
We need linked audio recording so that we won't miss anything in the class or in meetings!
The reason behind the success of NOTABILITY is the audio recording functionality, I use notability just for that!
Please add it.

I was under the impression the audio recording was available. That's the main reason why I bought GoodNotes. I do various interviews and matching quotes with what I wrote and what was recording is essential. Please improve your app. I may have to go with a different program... A waste of $8.00!

Record Audio would be the best feature.
Maybe, with a player that, while you're listening to the audio, it points to the note you took in that instant

I agree it is a dealbreaker and I will have to switch if recording is not added for my class lectures

This is the ONE feature that is keeping me from going with GoodNotes rather than Notability. I'm trying to "move on" from the Livescribe pen and proprietary physical paper notebooks I've used for a decade now. I LOVE the ability to record a presentation while I take notes on it and when I review my notes putting the pen down in any part of the note jumps the audio playback to what was being said at the time I was writing that particular line. This sync functionality is HUGE. Livescribe can also convert my handwriting to text. That's the piece that Notability is missing. Whomever adds the missing functionality to replace Livescribe wins my business both in iOS and Mac OS X.

This would be an extremely useful feature that is already present in Notability. May prevent users from switching over to Notability.

I want you to add audio recording (and maybe comments). But important is that you do it like notes writer+. I think that is the best way to do that.

It would be so great if you could add this to the future by taking notes in classes

I voted for this feature and think it is very important to the application. I have one more suggestion which I think would be super useful. Implement with the recording capability a pre-corder option. Turning this option “on” would cause the app to record aall the time it was open into a 15 to 30 second FIFO buffer. While taking notes, the app would record continuously into the buffer automatically discarding the portion that is the oldest, until the note taker indicates the statement that was just made is important and I want to capture the sound. By taping an icon the App would capture the sound in the buffer and continue recording until the note taker indicated that it was OK to stop. Indicating in the notes with some kind of icon that a recording snippet has been saved for this portion of the written notes. Taping this icon would play the snippet. This feature would avoid having to record an entire meeting just to make sure you capture a few seconds or minutes of sound. My experience with other note taking applications is that it just too painful to go back and wade through and hour of recording for 10 seconds of Information.

By order of importance
- Treat pens / highlighters as real materials (you can configure their thickness, color, pressure sensitivity... ) and keep them easily accessible to allow a quick change between materials.
- Have pressure sensitivity or at least simulate it (like in the INKREDIBLE app). It makes the writing experience more natural. It's currently the only thing stopping me to buy the app.
- Add a "template" system where you can classify your text as "Title", "subtitle", "paragraph", "sidenote"... I think about it as a very powerful highlighter. Eg: once you hightlight a title, it applies a certain style to it. And you can apply the same style again to have all the titles looking the same.
Like a very simplified and more intuitive version of paragraph styles in indesign.- Let users import their own "elements" (shapes, arrows, boxes...) and add them in the page in a simpler way. I've seen people importing it as PNG, but it would be lovely to design it in illustrator and use my own templates.
- Maybe creating a "creator" community? Where we can share notebook templates, elements, pens...=)
- Record audio (taking beautiful notes can be tiring!)
- math/scientific notation recognition (like Math pad). Am I dreaming too high?
- Converting handwritten text to typed.
- Maybe a handwritting option where you can set up your own handwritting (you're asked to draw your "A", your "B"..."Z"...) and then while writting the app could convert sloppy letters in the pre-drawn characters, like our very own custom font.
- Thanks GoodNotes team!
Hope you'll read this letter and not throw it in the fire as Mr.Banks did to his kids! <3
