Erase highlight WITHOUT having to change a setting each time
Not to look a “gift horse I’m the mouth” but though this has been addressed via changing a setting in the highlight tool each time, it’s not like in Notability, where you can erase the highlight without having to change a setting each time. The Eraser automatically recognizes there’s highlight and erases it.
1 voteThere is no need to change the setting of the eraser every time you want to erase highlighting. If “Erase Highlighter Only” is disabled, then GoodNotes will erase highlighting and ink strokes. If it is enabled, GoodNotes will only erase highlighter strokes, which allows you to remove highlighting on top of your ink without also removing the ink.

Hand printing smoothing
I’d like a note app that will improve my hand writing (hand printing). Converting to typed text takes too long. I would like the app to recognize a letter; a, b, c, A, B, C then reshape it and align it. I use this app for presentations. A written sentence is accompanied by a hand drawn diagram to the right of the text.
If a competitor has this feature, can you please notify me?
1 voteThanks for the suggestion. You can insert a text box and then use your Apple Pencil to handwrite into it. It will automatically be converted into typed text. Full iPadOS trackpad support
iPadOS 13.4 provides trackpad support (I’m using the 13.4 GM beta). In GoodNotes 5, however, the trackpad is not fully supported. For example, a two-finger swipe on the iPad changes pages, but a two-finger swipe on the trackpad does not. In the tab view, a touch on the “x” with your finger closes the document, but clicking on the “x” with the trackpad does nothing.
24 votesThe update 5.4.24 was released a few hours ago and adds support for scrolling with trackpad and Magic Mouse to GoodNotes.

Interface to Microsoft ToDo (or other task managers)
it would be great to have an interface, that you can circle around handwritten text in Goodnotes and send this as a new task to your task manager.
1 voteGoodNotes already supports the necessary technology for this but it depends on your task managers if they support the format.
You can try dragging an dropping your handwriting in the task manager or sharing it directly via the share sheet after converting your handwriting.

Highlighter Should Work On Dark Pages as well
I really want the highlighter works of text on a dark or a black page. Try to fix it ASAP.
1 voteWe have made the highlighter on dark paper more visible a while ago. If something is broken, please report a problem to our support team here: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Ability to remove toolbar tools that we never use to make more space for those we constantly use (colors, pen sizes, etc))
I am one of the large majority of users that only uses the pen tool, highlighter, eraser, & lasso tool. I have no use for the images, photo, laser, or text-box tools and thus, would much prefer to be able to add more colors and pen sizes (which I constantly change and use a lot). It would be amazing if the Goodnotes team would add this ability to an upcoming update!
Keep up the great work! :)
2 votesHello, thanks for the feedback!
You can customize the toolbar — rearrange tools and hide the ones you don’t use frequently.
Here’s the guide on how to do it

Next Page (scroll horizontally) without animation
I use Goodnotes to present incremental slides: Each slide contains the previous slide plus some additional items. The Next Page Animation (old page moves out, new page moves in) is disturbing here. It would be nice to have a scroll mode without animation, i.e., the next page simply replaces the current page . Concretely: Add one more Scroll direction: Horizontal without animation.
1 voteThis can be accomplished by setting the preference of the presentation mode in the share menu to “Mirror Full Page”. This setting will disable the page swiping animation for your audience. customisable covers
Customisable covers (imported image, photo, pdf, for example)
1 voteGoodNotes allows you to add any PDF or image as a custom paper or cover template. Here is how: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000115295-Adding-custom-templates-to-the-template-library

Include different colored legal pages
I like to use the legal page for notes since it mimics notebook paper with the left margin line, but would love to have it in different colors, such as the white pages. I think all the page templates should have the same color options.
1 voteGoodNotes allows you to add any PDF or image as a custom template. There are a lot of free or cheap templates available online that you can download and add to your templates library. https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000115295-Adding-custom-templates-to-the-template-library

Question: how do I copy or move a photo to a new page?
I need to move a photo to a page, can I do that?
1 voteYou can add photos to any page using the image tool or using drag and drop. If the photo has already been added to a page, use the lasso tool to copy/cut and paste it to another page.

Transition without a page-turning effect
I use GoodNotes for my lectures. I wish GoodNotes had an option where the pages transition like a presentation (just a clean jump to the next page rather than a page-turn effect), as if I were presenting from a pdf viewer, Google slides, etc. That way, I would be able to use GoodNotes for all my presentations where I uncover blocks of texts across slides.
1 voteThis can be done by setting the preference of the presentation mode to “always show full page”. Page transitions won’t be visible for your audience which allows you to create “powerpoint-like” transitions or even flipbook animations where each page is one frame of an animation.

searchable pdf
Would be great if imported PDF files can be searchable just like scanned pictures and handwritings. In my notebooks I import PDF more often than I take a picture.
2 votesMost PDFs that have been digitally created are already searchable in GoodNotes. There are some PDFs that have been scanned by older scanners which don’t support OCR which means they will not be searchable. We’re interested to make this possible in the future too.

Improve customer support accessibility
Hey everyone,
I have a technical issue with goodnotes, but it is not listed in the FAQ. It is not possible to file a question e.g. to a support chat. This should be improved. Other apps offer direct contact to the developers support, some through the App-Store some through an implemented help center in the application.
I have placed my request now below a blog post and hope to receive an answer (topic: flashcards). If there is another way, please tell me.
Thanks
Hannes1 voteHi Hannes, you can contact our support through this form on our help center: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
We’re offering support via email and Twitter, but rarely through other channels, so please send us another email with your question.

Self-defined template after a pdf
It annoys me that you have to change the template by yourself each time you want to swipe to add a new page after a pdf. Because when swiping a new page, behind a pdf dokument, to write on you get the template of the pdf dokument and you have to change the template to a writeable page.
So please let us self-define the template after EACH (pdf) page!
2 votesIn case you want to select a different template than the previous page’s template, please tap on the + button in the navigation bar. You can add new templates from frequently used ones or from the template library if you scroll all the way to the end in the horizontal list of templates.

Add light gridlines/squares to documents in order to improve handwriting.
And then be able to remove the gridlines afterwards. This would be super helpful on homework that we have to write on. Or, add light gridlines/squares to the zoom feature.
1 voteIt sounds like you will only need to remove the grind lines to submit it. In this case, please consider writing on paper with grid or lines first and then just use “change paper template” in … menu when you’re done. Alternatively, you can also disable “Include Page Background” in the export options.

Export intervals of pages
It would be very usefull to be able to export intervals of pages in a document instead of only entire document of the current page.
1 votePlease find how to export multiple pages of the same document here: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000630495-Exporting-documents-or-pages-in-GoodNotes-5

Quickly select multiple pages from pdf
Right now only one-by-one selection is possible in the thumbnails. Would be great if pages could be selected in batches, like photos in built-in Photos app.
1 voteGoodNotes allows you to select multiple pages from a PDF after tapping the “select” button in the upper right of the thumbnail view. You can also use two fingers two swipe over the thumbnails to select a range of pages.

Selection tool transformation
It would be so useful to have the option to transform the selection, like in adobe. Adding or subtracting parts of the selection, resizing it...
Thanks!
2 votesAfter selecting something with the lasso tool, you can tap on the selection again and tap “resize”. This allows you to resize or rotate the selection.

Optimize Good Notes for Apples M1 Chip
Apple released new Mac Books with new Chips called "M1". Programms have to be optimized, bevor they can be used with the new Mac Books. I have a new MacBook now and want to use GoodNotes, so it would be perfect, if you will upgrade the GoodNotes App for Mac.
1 voteGoodNotes already works on Apple’s M1 chips. In case you’re experiencing problems with it, please let us now by contacting our support via this form https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
