  2. Apple did not introduce a horizontal split view in portrait mode in iPadOS 15 and will probably not care to do so in the coming years.
Introduce a top-bottom horizontal split view in portrait mode, so that you can show a full-width part of a text book / lecture / exercise sheet at the top and your notes on the bottom on the 12.9 inch iPad.
Right now you need to switch between tabs. Every. Single. Time.
This is an essential feature for every student and a must-have for GoodNotes!

  3. When i am annotating lecture PDF, I read through one chapter and then want to skip to to the start to make notes into my mac. Being able to skip forward and backward to the closest bookmark would mean a word to me.
And I am not alone, am I?

  4. It would be awesome to have “snap to” guide lines on the page to paste text lined up evenly on the edge (or wherever) on the page. I like to copy inspirational quotes and Bible verses and add them to my “Notebook”…it would be great if they could be lined up easily without adding to existing text boxes so they can easily be rearranged at any time.

  5. Right now the toolbar is placed at the top or at the bottom. But while working and taking notes, it requires to change the tool from highlighter to pen or vice-versa many a time. And on IPAD PRO 12.9 Inch the reach is not easy to change the tool. So if the toolbar is placed vertically on both the side then it can reduce the efforts of user. Thank you for hearing out! Stay safe :)

  6. It would be cool if I could search for a drawing in GoodNotes (example shown in the attached image). Currently, GoodNotes' search bar only accepts a text input, since GoodNotes uses Optical Content Recognition (OCR). The search feature would be even more powerful if I could also draw something in the search field, and find matching/similar occurrences of that drawing.

In addition to helping me search for diagrams, this would also help with searching for handwritten text that wasn't accurately converted using OCR.

Thank you for taking the time to review this! :)

  7. I think it would be great if we were able to have movable sticky notes that would also move the text inside of it without affect any highlighting already resent on the page. Or being able to deselect highlighting when using the lasso tool so that I could move just my makeshift sticky notes.

  8. For example, when I highlight “carboxyl” I can click on the highlight, and BANG—a picture of carboxyl (that I drew in the annotation) pops up. Not only that, but in a pdf, when I highlight a text I can create my own comments in the small annotation box.

This resembles closely to the google docs Suggestion tool, except Goodnotes!

  9. Other than just the lasso tool to select pieces of a Goodnotes document, I’d like to see a “smart select” option that would let you highlight written or typed text (like LiquidText can do for PDFs), so that you can move and edit the properties of the selected handwritten text. This would also help avoid erroneous selection of text and/or objects with the lasso tool and make the application more user-friendly.

  13. I've noticed that the interface begins to lag when I've been drawing on the same file for a while (I use an iPad pro with an Apple Pencil 2). It lags in at least three ways:

    • Drawing new lines
    • Erasing lines
    • Scrolling up and down in the file

I can eliminate the lag completely if I close the file and re-open it. Also, of course, after closing the file and re-opening it I can't undo any of the previous strokes. Thus, it's reasonable to expect that the reason for the lag is because of appending strokes to some data structure…

  14. Since the last update, if you want to copy or cut some text out and past it somewhere else, you first need to hold long onto the text, and then you need to switch to the menu to the right. Before the update you didn't need to switch to the right, this was better and faster.
Maybe this is because me tablet language is in german and not English

  16. I've been making stickers to go together to make a whole picture, but I can't put them in the order I choose. They keep covering each other up in the wrong order I would like t put them in the order I choose.

  17. When using an Apple Pencil with the lasso tool, if I get too close to the edge of the page I frequently go just beyond the edge, causing the lasso tool to think that's the end of the lasso area selection. This typically does not result in the desired area being selected.

Instead of terminating the lasso area selection when going out-of-bounds, snap the lasso selection to the page boundary and continue lasso area selection.

(This seems to be the behavior of the macOS app when using the lasso tool with mouse. It would be good to enable similar behavior…

  18. I'd like to be able to select some handwriting, "right-click" to convert the text, and be able to directly make a text box which contains that text from the "convert to text" window.

Currently, I need to convert to text, copy, go make a text box, then paste into that box.

I think it would be a nice little time saver.

  19. I’m amazed that people have been suggesting direct access to Dropbox for YEARS now and nothing has come of it. Having to import documents from Dropbox into GoodNotes file management system is ridiculous and tedious; let me open the file directly from Dropbox and save it directly TO Dropbox rather than having to import and export!

  20. it will be ok to import a picture ( for example a nautical compass), filtering white so it can be transparent ( already possible now ) and make an area impenetrable so that we can draw straight lines during lessons.
