Type on the lines
sometiomes I use the ruled paper and wanna type on it,but the textbox seems not precisely fits the line spacing of the paper , i hope I can directly type on the paper lines ,not type in a textbox. Thanks!

You can adjust the spacing to match rules lines but it only works if you either a) use the return key at the end of the line or b) never use the return key and let the text wrap. The instant you mix them the spacing gets all messed up and it’s suuuuper annoying.

Essentially we need a fully fledged text editor like the following request details:

This same request seems to be scattered across the site and so the votes are divided but essentially this is what is required:

Being able to type directly onto the paper without text boxes is the only thing holding me back from using Good Notes as my notebook. Please add this feature asap.

I need this so bad.

Agreed! Also, automatic margins would be nice, unlike Notability's ugly edge-to-edge text

Yes this is the reason i dont use the app as a note taking app in mac because it takes a lot of time and effort to just a single line of text.

It would be just GREAT

yes! notability has an amazing text feature where typing on the left side of the page automatically has text formatting like in Microsoft word (complete with a bullet system) and they also have the added ability to add separate textboxes! please make this available!

Yes, yes yes!! I find it is very slow and cumbersome to keep adding text boxes. And if I don’t tap in just the right space they don’t line up with the area I’m trying to type in and then I have to spend time moving them around. i like the idea someone said about having that be a toolbar option so you can easily switch if you need to. Great if you need to add notes to a sketch that other people need to be able to read.

yes please! I 100% agree. The entire keyboard-typing experience is very underdeveloped. If I ever need to take a quick note or paste a link to save it for later, I just use Apple Notes because it's so much quicker to open and type. Rather than open QN5, pick my notebook, click on text box, type. If they could streamline the typing experience, and offer more options similar to a basic "Microsoft Word" I would be forever grateful.

Agreed! Sometimes I’m in meetings where it’s easier to use the keyboard for typing and having to constantly click the text box is cumbersome. Along with better keyboard use would be some shortcuts to create new text boxes and/or end the one I’m in along with font style and color changes.

I'd like to see this at least in the desktop app too

Just yes please , It makes me crazy that when I’m in lab top mode on my IPad that every time I want a different font or style that I have no choice but to get another box . While I’m aware that this is mainly catered to the Apple Pencil style I’m a constant back and forth mover between modes since I do a lot of writing with a full keyboard.

A separate button next to the “pens” for typewriting. This would entail being able to type normally wherever we tap on the page to create an insertion point. This would also contemplate minimal text styling; bold, italic, underline, several colours and the ability to change font and/or font size for any given part of the text.
