More color options in top menu bar (more than just 3)
On OneNote I have 14 different colored pens and highlighters up top. GoodNotes is superior to one note in almost every way except this one. I color code my notes, so I am forced to used one note. If I were to try and color code using goodnotes, it would take me hours longer because there are so many extra clicks to get to the correct color of pen or highlighter. Having more color options up top and allowing both pens and highlighters in the menu bar like one note would be amazing.
There is plenty of room up there, changing pen thickness is not important enough to have that much space up top, other colors are. But honestly there is plenty of room for more colors, you could just shift the thickness all the way to the right and the other menu options all the way to the left and have room for 10 more colors.

I was able to put up with the 3 slots of color on my iPad mini - and generally I loved GoodNotes over Notability for the Notebook style organization.
This latest update has made it so hard to use Good Notes in portrait mode on the iPad Mini - when the pen tool is active - the space in which the stroke thickness and color picker slides is soo tiny - like less than an inch long.
I literally don't use any of the other tools apart from Pen and Eraser - wish I could delete all those and have like 10 colors and 2-3 stroke thickness options instead.
Will probably go to Notability till this is improved ☹️

As others have commented on, the latest update has interrupted my workflow as stroke thickness is more important than color. Now I have an unused space on my toolbar.

Totally agree that we should have an option to choose how we want our colour selection / thickness selection arranged.
I change my stroke thickness quite often when taking notes.
For me, it is painful to take notes in GoodNotes after the newest update. I really want to at least have a chance to choose which layout I want to have.

For my usecase, pen thickness is more important than having quick access to more than 3 colours. The last update messed with my workflow in a big way. It was the fact I could quickly swap between different strokes that made me switch to Goodnotes in the first place.
If we could have an option to choose how we want our colour selection / thickness selection arranged, that'd be satisfying for all. I'm frustrated using an app that once was everything I needed it to be, and now has gotten (for me!) much worse and more cumbersome through a single change.

I agree as a math teacher I often color code and having to constantly switch the colors when I want to use more than 3 colors interrupts the flow. I believe in one note you are able to add the color you want that would be great

Could also implement this in a Paper 53 (old version) style where, say you have a palette of 5 colors, then you swipe left/right on the current palette to get to the next palette and then you have another 5 colors.

Completely agree with everyone here. Especially for maths or coding it is super important to be able to color code everything so it is more organised when studying!!!

I can only agree to you. I would not need 10 more colours but at least 5-8 in total would be nice. But if you can adjust the number of colours it according to your screen size that would be perfect.

this is my main issue with goodnotes currently! doing math is HARD when i can’t color code each step lol hopefully this gets implemented soon! i’m glad other people also want this 🤞🏻

I love color coding my notes, but it's harder due to only 3 colors being shown. I refuse to use other apps. But if it doesn't get changed, then I will have no other choice. Please just fix it. It will make all your customers happier... meaning we will tell more student... meaning more money for you.
