[Outline] Sub-Outlines / Tabs / Navigation in the notes
When I import some PDFs their outlines are imported too. I love this feature. I have noticed that when this happens, the outlines have sub-outlines to make navigating the outlines easier.
However, I can not create this in my own GoodNotes outlines. It only works when I import a PDF that already has this structure built into it.
I would like to have a feature in GoodNotes where I can create sub-outlines in my notebooks.

Thanks for your feedback!
Sub-outlines will be available very soon.
Stay tuned for updates!

This feature is very crucial for pdfs with multiple pages. This sub-outline system would be very helpful for navigating the pdfs

Please add this feature!! It's a must!

Agreed. It would be great if I could collapse a week's worth of notes and just have them dated to make it easier to navigate.

I agree. It is absolutely necessary!

Often times I download PDFs online and I would like to create nested outline tabs so that it's not so cluttered. For example, instead of having Chapter 1, Chapter 1.1, Chapter 1.2, Chapter 1.3, etc. have the ability to nest all sub chapters under Chapter 1. This is great for big textbooks or when I want to organize my notes. It's definitely already a feature Goodnotes 5 supports considering several PDF's have nested outline tabs, but for whatever reason, I cannot make my own nested tabs.
This can easily be done by click and dragging tabs to nest them under a parent tab.

Another thing that would be nice is a structuring overview where titles of pages can be added in different layers, like 1.title - 2.title - ... that a structured table of Contents is the result.

YES! I'm working on my dissertation...the amount of material I have, I've needed to set up multiple notebooks just to navigate in a semi-timely manner.

Please consider a feature where users can customize notebook outlines by enabling toggles or by enabling suboutlines.
It would make a notebook more neat and convenient when outlines can have indented suboutlines under them and/or toggles that collapse when clicked. It’s inconvenient to have to scroll a lengthy outline compared to a collapsible one.
Some PDFs I import have this feature and it creates collapsible toggles in the goodnotes outline section but when I create a notebook within goodnotes it does not give me an option to create toggles.
See attached files. The first pic is an imported pdf with outlines with collapsible toggles ( blue “>”) and the second pic is an outline I made from scratch which I wanted to customize.

Why can't user perform this with our own notes? If I upload a PDF with stacked headings, it works just fine in Goodnotes.

I would love to see an add feature to outlines where one would be able to make folders/subdivisions … for example I can create and outline for chapters in a text book, then creat subdivisions for each section of the chapter (I.e., chapter 1 *dropdown menu* 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc…)

It is currently a little difficult to navigate through notebooks as they get larger, as the navigation bar shows previews of entire pages.
The ability to mark certain points as section dividers or add headings or any other way to make a table of contents would make navigation much easier.

I have long documents to annotate, so it would be nice if I can easily customise an outline - I suggest:
1. being able to create multiple layers and collapsable outline (pretty much self explanatory it is very important for users with long pdf. I NEED STRUCTURE!!)
2. swipe left/right on the side to bring out a sideview outline panel (best if semi-transparent background and on the side instead of a new window in the centre so I can reference the outline big picture while still reading the page)
3. being able to delete or edit the outline of imported pdf (most of the time when importing pdf with existing outline it gets all messed up and I can't delete them. either I ignore them or press the filter button everytime its so annoying) -

This will be so helpful as I write a lot of handwritten notes, almost like writing a book. I need a proper table of contents for what I wrote. Please implement this. Shouldn't be too hard, given that we already have table of contents with outlines and sub-outlines for pdf files.

That would be super helpful! Especially for my hundreds of pages of textbook pdfs I imported for studying which come without an outline of their own…

That and being able to assign headings to the different elements of the outline!
The most common and convenient method would be using the # (as is possible in Notion and in many coding markups).
Where
# = heading 1
## = heading 2
### = heading 3
And so forth -
