Implement a splitscreen option.
The splitscreens option allows the user to see two pages of one document at once. With this option the user can open an informative pdf on the one side while taking notes on a different sheet on the other side.
We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

I’m patiently waiting for this to happen. It’s 20almost19!

I really need GoodNotes to update with this feature, otherwise I’ll have to switch to notability and I’d prefer not to.

One page of handwritten notes = 3 MB? This is simply too much.
I bought the app in order to go paperless at work. Now I'm thinking where I to store all the notes... Please, add the compression option when exporting.

This is fckn essencial! Please implement this asap. I don’t want to use notability just because of this feature.

To be able to view two pages of a document side by side (as you can in things like a kobo/kindle, adobe reader, word, etc.) will make this the best note taking app out there.

This is perhaps the most important feature that does not currently exist

With many digital documents to be create, a capability to save / store / archive GN files by name or by a set of files to your Library (which you can shared with others.) These Libraries have GN files as "books" (aka documents), stored offline, searched for when needed, and imported - like an NSF mount-when needed or like Napster. Example, if you don't need "Inorganic Chemistry" on your GN right now, there is no need to have them locally and no need to load into your GN app. However, when needed you could search your Library (or Libraries) - look for books on "Chemistry" and import a book (GN Notebook) or mount a set. Hierarchy: Library -> Catalog Category -> Book Set -> GN notebook ... hence, GN files look like books, and Library is your bookshelf- stored mostly offline, only what you need now is seen in GN app ipad/mac os etc. You can Check In/Check Out book from your library. Books not used often, GN success to archive in your library. Suggest using object storage, access directly using an S3 API ( like Cyberduck.) :-)
