Inkscape like locking and grouping of objects
When using an image in background for annotaion two things would be great:
- disable/lock image in background so one can select/move/copy... notes made on
that image without affecting the image itself.- allow grouping elemts s.t. those elements are selected together. Image with notes on it is always moved etc. together with notes so layout is preserved

Study Set defaults to US English - add option to set your default language
The topic says it all really …
Currently the app preferences captures a setting for your language, with respect to handwriting recognition.
My suggestion is to extend that data point to also apply to the default language used when creating a new “Study Set” of flash cards.
The need to change this every time seems a failing on the part of the design…

Voice Recording
With the release of Goodnotes 6, I would like to have a feature where the voice recording in iOS can be shared with the Windows version. This will be such a good improvement and easier for anyone with different devices.

Toolbar Problems When Using The Split View
It is impossible to take the pen, the eraser or the highlighter without tapping on the toolbar when using the “slide over” (third option in the split view options). It becomes very hard and troublesome when I want to take the pen again after using the lasso tool for a very short time. Because I have to tap the toolbar to take the pen or the eraser again so I have to close the sliding screen and open it again after I take the tool I want. Moreover, closing and opening the sliding screen causes a cancellation of the zoom I’ve made on that screen. So I have to close the sliding screen, take the pen, open the sliding screen again and zoom the page in the sliding screen if I want to take the pen again after taking the lasso tool or the laser pointer or etc. It is really annoying as I said, so we should be able to take the previous tool we used without tapping on the toolbar (double-tapping on screen or sliding downwards with double fingers etc. can be considered but I believe that you will choose the best way to do this). OR we can just take the toolbar to the right or left on the screen. It will be great if you add the both features I’ve mentioned above. I’ll attach two images to illustrate these features and I hope these images will be helpful for you. Thank you for your attention on this and also for your efforts.

duplicate
Remove the "Command + D" when within a document. The reason for this request is "command +F" is a function I use often. Because of the proximity of D and F on the keyboard, I often mistakenly duplicate an entire book, sometimes containing thousands of pages and notes and imported pictures. Another fix would simply adding a prompt "are you sure you want to duplicate all 1xxx pages?" then have to click yes. It locks up my computer when it duplicates. Thank you!

1.Searchable text in imported images/screenshots (like apple photos).2.Pdfs as small images that maintain searchable text.3.Infinite Canvas.
The ability to import a pdf as a smaller file/image similar to the way Notability lets you import scanned pdfs by giving you two options of either importing it as an image or importing it as a full-scale pdf would be an amazing feature. GoodNotes seems to make it imperative that something must be scanned instead of imported from another source in order to recognize text. This is the case at least when importing images or pdfs that were not OCR'd and have unrendered text in them.
I feel like this proposal would be helpful, in that, it would allow you to compile multiple pages of a pdf file onto one page if you wanted and allow one to be able to save space in the document by not being forced to import pdfs of large documents as full-sized pages, and instead allow them to be placed onto a page as a smaller image in the note. For instance, when I import a set of PowerPoint or Google slides for class, it would be incredible to be able to import them without them having to be full sized pages, which leaves very little room for making side comments and annotations as I am forced to write directly on the slide itself. This makes it difficult when taking notes in class because it forces one to have to write smaller as to not cover up important content on the slide and this makes it harder to find what I wrote down later. This would save so much time and prevent any unnecessary pages from piling up especially when you have hundreds of slides to go over and would make it easier for me to review when it comes time for an exam. This would be amazing.
An infinite canvas template page would be amazing as well. I like seeing everything I wrote in one area without having so many pages to go through. This wouldn't be a problem if I did not write so much when taking notes, however, I write a lot and I end up filling up several pages with my notes, and this makes it difficult when reviewing them. I know that OneNote has this feature, however, OneNote is incapable of searching handwritten text for Apple devices and from what I understand, Microsoft made the decision to exclude this feature from Apple users through their own volition.
Also, my number one biggest request is to have the ability to have searchable text in images or the screeenshots copy and pasted when using the lasso tool in Goodnotes. I would love for any image that is copy and pasted from any app that is imported to have the ability to recognize the text or handwriting within the image that is imported. Say, I had a pdf containing a diagram in my notes and it had recognizable text, and say, I wanted a section of the diagram to be put next to a term I am writing down to visually familiarize myself with a new term for a class. Then, I use the lasso tool to take a screenshot of a portion of the pdf and place the screenshot next to the new term. However, when I paste the screenshot, I can no longer recognize or select the text, and it is unsearchable via the search engine. It would be very cool if it could be made so that the text of a screenshot, using the screenshot feature of the lasso tool could be recognized.
These suggestions would be much appreciated if they were seen as noteworthy, and I hope that changes such as these are implemented in the app, for having these features would greatly change the note-taking game. I am thankful for all the good that GoodNotes has done, especially in the student community and am excited to see all the great features and ideas that are provided in the future.

Allow freestyle zooming in/out for both landscape & portrait
On iPadOS, one can zoom out beyond the margins of the given page while in landscape mode. However, the page remains centred and it is quite irking when I am trying to write something near the far right edge. This is exacerbated tenfold in portrait mode; you can’t really zoom out at all, making it incredibly frustrating when writing to the right edge.
I don’t know why this wouldn’t already be the case, or why this shouldn’t be implemented, but we should be allowed to zoom in and out on our page in both landscape and portrait mode and it should not automatically insist on remaining centred. I understand that the centring may be in order to avoid people ‘losing’ their pages, but that’s easily remedied with either an option to have the page automatically centre or not or never allowing the page to go fully out of view.
As someone who organises their notes in a visual kind of way, it’s been driving me mad that either my hand is awkwardly hanging off the side of the iPad and throws off my writing or I am forced to zoom out with the document centred which, in turn, messes with the pen width (as mentioned in other feedback posts by other people).

Request for Full-Screen Mode with Floating Favorite Tools on Goodnotes
First of all, I would like to express my gratitude for the incredible work you have done so far in providing an excellent note-taking experience with your Goodnotes app. I have been a loyal user for several years, and I appreciate the constant updates and improvements that you make to the app.
I am writing to you today to request a new feature that I believe would enhance the overall user experience. As someone who frequently uses the Goodnotes app for taking notes, I find that the toolbar on the side of the screen can sometimes take up valuable screen real estate, limiting the amount of space available for writing.
To address this issue, I would like to suggest a full-screen mode that includes floating favorite tools on the side of the screen. This feature would allow users to maximize the writing area, while still having easy access to their most frequently used tools.
I am confident that this feature would be a valuable addition to the Goodnotes app, and I am reaching out to you today to request that you consider adding it in the next update. I believe that this feature would benefit a large number of Goodnotes users and would further solidify the app's position as a top-tier note-taking application.
Furthermore, I would like to express my interest in participating in the beta test app for this feature. I believe that being part of the testing process would provide valuable feedback to your team, and I would be thrilled to have the opportunity to help in any way possible.
Thank you for taking the time to read my email, and I hope you will consider my request. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Display the HEX Code in the Clour Menü
It would be great if there is a way to display the hexadecimal color codes right under the color in the color menu. Maybe with a button in the menu itself.

Different set of tools for each notebook
It would be nice if each notebook could store a set of tools. This would be to select the 3 sizes that the application allows you and a series of colors for a specific notebook, that is, that the sizes are not modified in general, but only for that notebook. This could be implemented with a padlock-like button to lock the settings for that notebook only.
It would be great for when you import a pdf of a different size from the notebook you usually use and you want to write on that pdf.4 votes -
Easily changing line thickness
I often used the quick select for changing the line thickness. I enjoy the new UI and want to keep it. As an improvement, we should be able to swipe up or down on the line thickness symbol in order to change the thickness. This allows us to keep the creative UI element while also removing clunkyness of having to dig through a menu for a quick feature and adding an intuitive way to change the line thickness as the thicknesses are already highlighted when changed.

Input scanned documents as images instead of full pages
On a daily basis I (and tons of other students) find it extremely useful to take photos of the board the professor writes on and insert said image into my handwritten notes.
The document scan feature is perfect for this, as it straightens and adjusts the image and makes it more legible.
Unfortunately every time you use it the scanned image is imported on a new page. An option to insert the scan as a resizable image instead would be perfect. Thanks!

Voice Memos Named and Put in a Specific Location
Love the new voice memos feature, I wish that they were easier to use though. I would appreciate it if the names could be edited after recording, and if they could be linked to and played by a voice memo sticker on the page.
