Give an option to control rolling pages
I found that in the newest version, when rolling pages horizontally, if my finger slides fast, next page will automatically adapted(i.e. next page’s top will align to the top of screen), I felt uncomfortable with this feature sometimes and I want an option to switch it off.

Highlighter behind text
When highlighting text written by any of the pens, the highlight should automatically go behind the text, especially on dark paper, this way it looks better and the text is more readable

1 vote -

Automatic Outline creation with lasso tool
Using the lasso tool, when I select a title I could make it a heading, subtitle or subheading & the app would automatically recognize it and show it in the outlines tab.

Tables in Notebooks, Whiteboard
I would really appreciate it if you could make it possible to add tables to good notes. It would be very helpful, i don’t want to draw it all the time.
Thank you for your attention :)5,359 votes -

Tape and smart learn
Hello,
I think that it is highly inconvenient that the tape tool becomes uninteractive while reviewing cards in the smart learn mode, both tools are extremely practical and I think that being able to combine the two of them would increase the learning experience.
We could then make flash cards with sentences where the key words are covered with tape to see we know it in depth.5 votes -
Add Markdown support
There is no note-taking app out there that supports both handwritten notes and typed notes. By adding the keyboard feature, Goodnotes has taken a first step towards becoming an all-rounder app. The only problem is that the keyboard feature can't compete with apps like Obsidian or Notion, as it is extremely time consuming to format the text. So far, it is only suitable for aesthetic reasons, but is not practically usable. By adding support for Markdown, Goodnotes would finally have the first hybrid all-rounder solution for notes.
I attached some examples of how it could look like implemented.

Topic views
I think it would be great if it was possible to create different “views” for different topics on the same document. My ideal scenario is reading academic articles and looking for different types of information in my notes. I would like to select one or more of these categories so that only notes that have been taken in them will be visible.
Eg: document on how to use an algorithm to solve a specific practical problem
Different views:
- “Practical problem”: all the notes and highlights on the practical constraints and similar problems that have been tagged with “practical problem”
- “Algorithm ideas”: all the notes and highlights on the algorithm that is proposed that have been tagged with “algorithm idea”
- “Alternative approaches”: all the notes and highlights on the cited approaches from other works and what their limits were, that have been tagged with “alternative approaches”And so on.
I hope this is clear. I currently make a small legend on top of the article, mapping highlighter color to topics, but sometimes I would like to see only a subset of them. Timer in presentation mode
I’m using goodnotes in my class to teach and like to make the timer visible in de presentation mode. This way students can see how much time they for a certain practice. Can this be done?

on-device AI for iPadOS 26
With the Apple Intelligence ability on-device (for free) you can start to use the LLM for processing documents without needing to use cloud services.
Goodnotes 6 is pretty awesome - but due to my employer's restrictions on using cloud services I can't use it. If I could set my app to only use my local iCloud storage and only use my on-device AI capabilities now available in iPadOS 26 then I could use this app.
It's a shame that I can't and I hope you guys consider this feature.

Too many ‘click’ or steps to convert text.
It takes too many steps to convert handwriting.
1; circle /select handwriting
2: tap circle, hope the menu comes up
3: tap the 3 dots button
4: tap convert
5: tap text
6: tap convert again
7: change font because the default settings don’t apply to converted textShould be 2 steps
1: circle/select handwriting
2: tap a convert buttonIf it makes a mistake, you’d have to edit it anyway. So the pop up is redundant.
I know this is possible because your code is already ‘converting’ the handwriting in order to be able to spellcheck and search handwritten stuff. It’s tooooooo many steps.

Shape Library
The existing shape tool uses a "draw and hold" feature to automatically recognize shapes. While useful, this can lead to incorrect shape detection, especially when drawing quickly in time-sensitive environments like college lectures. The tool may select the wrong shape, causing frustration and slowing down workflow.
Implement an option to pre-select specific shapes (e.g., rectangle, circle, arrow, straight line) before drawing, similar to the shape selection tools available in Microsoft OneNote or Word. This would allow users to choose their desired shape in advance and draw it more quickly and accurately without relying on the shape recognition feature.
By giving users the ability to pre-select shapes, the tool will become more efficient, particularly in fast-paced settings where speed and accuracy are critical. This would reduce the time spent correcting mistakes, enhancing productivity and user satisfaction.

APPLE PENCİL
You need to provide an Apple Pencil that works like a signature pen. As I increase the tip sharpness in the pen settings, the pen starts behaving in the opposite way — not as it should. I'm attaching an image. Please bring this kind of pen.

Measured Crosshairs (or Grid)
Tap a crosshairs icon on the toolbar to add a crosshairs placement tool (similar to the ruler) that automatically disappears after the very next object has been placed on the page at the crosshairs.
The crosshair’s lines are measure marked and extend automatically AND continually to all four page edges (similar to the ruler). But, the node at the center of the crosshairs specifies the exact placement for the very next object placed on the page. The lines on the crosshairs locate that node relative to the edges of the page.
To use the tool:
1) Tap once to select the tool.
2) Tap and hold the page in the general area where the next object will be placed.
3) Drag the center of the crosshair’s node to the exact location where the next objected will be placed.
4) Release to select a specific tool like a text box or an image box.
5) Select that tool’s icon. The crosshairs disappear as that tool’s empty box is placed on the page.
6) Interact with the empty box as normal.
Crosshairs NODE options:
1) Center the tool’s empty box at the node OR place the a specific corner of the empty box at that node.
2) Keep the crosshairs on the page to reposition for adding another tool’s box OR make it disappear to continue working.
3) Size input fields to pre-specify exact size and shape of the added box
4) persistent and/or saved default settings
5) snap to the node
