Dashed Lines, Dashed Shapes, Dashed Arrows
Dashed lines
It would be so useful to add the dashed line tool for writing and geometric mode!
For mathematic, physics and scientific note it is essential having a tool like this!
Thanks317 votesHello, the option to create dashed lines, shapes, and arrows is already available in the app.
1) To create a dashed line:
Go to Writing Tools → Pen → Stroke Settings, then choose Dashed or Dotted. You can also adjust the pen thickness to control the density of the dashes. See the screen attached.
2) To create dashed shapes:
Go to Shapes → Stroke Settings in the floating menu. As in the first step, you can customize the style and density there.
You can also create a shape in the default style and then make it dashed. To do this, create a shape, open the Object Menu, select Stroke Settings, and customize the style. The same applies to shapes created with AutoShape.
3) To create a dashed arrow:
You can either select a dashed style directly in the Shapes menu, or create an arrow first and then customize its style…

Remove all the scam posts here
This is a great place to inform the GN developers of customer feature requests but it's currently infiltrated by scam ads and marketing that just clog the system. There must be a way to stop such parasitic behaviour.

Use on IPhone
Would like to use Goodnotes both to view and creat/edit on my iPhone 14 Plus. I ALWAYS have my phone accessible as I do not carry my iPad out with me and would love to be able to make corrections/additions to my planner
1 voteHello,
The Goodnotes app is available to download on your iPhone.
Once you download it, you can log in and access your notes. You’ll be able to view and edit them according to your plan.
Give it a try and see how it works. If there’s a specific improvement you’d like to see on iPhone, let us know by submitting a new idea or checking existing ones 🙂

Table of Contents
Hello GoodNotes Team,
I love using GoodNotes for my medical study workflow.
I would like to request a Table of Contents, Sub-contents navigation feature for PDFs.This would make navigating large textbooks much easier, especially for students and professionals working with multiple long medical PDFs.
Thank you for considering this feature and for continually improving the app!
1 voteHello,
The option to create navigation within files already exists—you can find it in the Outlines section of the sidebar.
Let us know if this is what you’re looking for!

Hide tools from toolbox
l would like to make a recommendation: l would like to be able to choose which tools to keep in/ which to temporarily hide in from the toolbox at the top of my notes. For example I enjoy the tape, ruler and pencil, but don't use them enough so instead they get in the way
2 votesHello,
The toolbar customization option is already available, allowing you to hide and organize the tools as you like.
You can read more about it here.

BRING BACK THE AUTOMATIC FULL-PAGE TEXT BOX
Ever since they have removed the automatic full-page text box, it has ruined note taking as a whole. It is such an inconvenience to use text boxes, as it is harder to manage and just overall too much to use. I would like to bring back the automatic full-page text boxes as it made note taking more convenient, efficient, and easier to manage.
1 voteHello,
Full-page typing is available for text boxes.
To enable full-page typing within a notebook, select the Text Tool > long-press on the page > choose Start Typing.
If you’d prefer a dedicated full-typing experience, you can also try Text Documents, a file type designed specifically for typing.
Let us know if this works for you!

Allow family sharing again please
Since GoodNotes 6, family sharing via the Apple iOS app store is unfortunately no longer supported by GoodNotes.
This is really frustrating because it means that we can no longer use the app as a family. That's why I would like to suggest that the developers reconsider supporting family sharing in GoodNotes 6 as well.

Outline improvement
Currently, the whole outline cannot be seen if it is too long. The whole title. should be seen in the outline tab.
Collapsible subtopics should also be added.
There should be a quicker way to input an outline like a shortcut.
There should be an option to see comments in the outline tab.
8 votesHello, thanks for the feedback!
We’ve recently added improvements to outlines, and these features are already live:
— Collapsible subtopics
Starting with version 7.0.22, you can create multi-level outlines with collapsible sections. Outline items can be nested by dragging them onto parent items, allowing you to collapse and expand sections to reduce clutter and navigate large documents more easily. This works for both handwritten notebooks and imported PDFs.
— Outline creation
There are several ways to create an outline:
- Import it with a PDF
- Generate it automatically using AI
- Create it manually
When creating outlines manually, there are multiple shortcuts to add a page to the outline:
- From Page settings (More menu icon in the top-right corner)
- From the Sidebar → Outlines (Add Page to Outline)
- From the Sidebar → Pages overview (Add Page to Outline)
For more details about Outlines please read here.

Allow deleting outlines on shapes
With the new update my shapes have to be equipped with an outline. I preferred using the transparent filler colour as a decent highlight for my study notes, which I got by either erasing the outline with a stroke eraser or by pressing "back" once. Please bring back this feature or add the option of "no-outline" when creating a shape.
I'd also love to have my colour presets in the auto-shape menu. It isn't useful to me, when it doesn't align with the colour scheme I use.
1 voteHello,
If you’d like to remove the outline from shapes, you can adjust this in the Stroke settings by selecting the object. There are 4 available styles: None, Solid, Dashed, and Dotted. For your case, select None.
To set default colors and stroke settings for shapes, you can adjust these options in the floating menu of the Shapes tool.

What are the prices for GoodNotes? I can't find any prices on https://www.goodnotes.com/pricing
1 voteHello! The prices are now available on the pricing page of our website. However, they may vary by region, so we recommend checking the pricing directly in the app.

Add Tape Tool
Tape…Notability just published an update to allow something like white out tape that can be tapped to make transparent and then tapped again to ”reapply.”
Teaching implications of such a tool are obvious and awesome.
Please give us such a feature.
389 votes[Tape Tool is available on Apple, Android, Windows, and Web]
Hello,
Thank you so much for sharing your suggestions! Tape Tool is already available for all Goodnotes users on Apple, Android, Windows, and Web.
The Tape Tool is a great way to study using active recall. It allows you to hide and reveal information in your notebooks with a single tap.
For more details, please check out this article.
Feel free to share your feedback and let us know how the feature works for you! If you’re already actively using this tool and have new suggestions, please submit them through the ideas portal.
Thank you for your contribution!

Writing in a full page (as in a word document)
Hello! I love using goodnotes. I have an iPad on which I use goodnotes and I love it. I also use it on my Windows computer, and its not as good as on the iPad. I wish we could have access to the Typing tool as on the ipad, where we can write as in a word document. And also, I wish we could justify the text!
Thank you <3
2 votesHello, this is already available in the Goodnotes app.
You can enable full-page typing in 2 ways:
- Create a Text Document — this is a new file type we launched in September, designed specifically for a full-typing experience.
- Enable full-page typing within a notebook — select the Text Tool > long-press on the page > choose Start Typing.

Sticky Notes
We would really like to make a sticky notes that moves with the text in it . The sticky note available now only lets you to write over it, but when you want to move it , only the sticker will move, or you should select all the text which may take the text under it also. So it is better to have like a really sticky note
90 votesHello,
Sticky Notes are already available in Goodnotes as part of the September 2025 update. They’re currently offered as a separate tool, allowing you to:
— Choose any color from presets or your custom palette
— Add your name as a signature to a sticky note, useful when leaving comments and collaborating with others, as each contributor’s name will be visible
— Add text to the sticky note that moves together with it if you reposition the note
— Add and style text freely to suit your needs
— Include links inside sticky notes
— Collapse sticky notes to use them as comments
Try it out and share your feedback with us!

[Eraser] Move eraser to the toolbar
Moving the eraser types (Stroke Eraser, Standard Eraser and Precision Eraser) to the toolbar on the right, where the eraser size already is, would make switching easier. Currently you have to always go to the eraser menu which gets stressful.
Thank you!17 votesHello! With the recent update, the eraser has been moved from the Writing menu to the main toolbar.
Feel free to check it out!

Implement spam filtering on ideas, so everyone trying to help doesn’t get spammed by brainless idiots
People with Tiny TINY genitalia and even smaller brains, seem to think that spamming this idea forum will somehow inspire the annoyed users jump up and buy the useless crap they’re selling.
There should be spam filtering implemented along with human checks.
They’re even getting AI to make the posts now so they appear to vaguely contribute while still link spamming.
It would almost be impressive if the bar was not set soooo low for their sad pathetic bovine copulating existence.

Move the Undo and Redo buttons in Goodnotes 6 back to the top right corner as they were in Goodnotes 5.
The "UNDO" and "REDO" buttons in Goodnotes 6 have moved from the top right corner in Goodnotes 5 to the top left corner. When using UNDO, it's often necessary to see up to which step I've undone. But after moving to the top left, not only does my right hand have to move a considerable distance, but my entire hand covers the screen, making it hard to see where I've undone to. I hope the UI design can be changed back to the top right corner.

Adjust the speed of the audio recording
I am incredibly happy that you have added the voice recording feature. I would be very pleased If you add another feature where we can adjust the speed of the audio recording. (such as 1.25x, 1.5x, 2x or 0.5x)

lock documents
It would be cool to have the option, to lock a document, so that it only can be accessed by keyword/face_id/fingerprint. This would be nice for Bankstatements, private diaries or just as a way from keeping other ppl from snooping around in ur documents
43 votesThanks for sharing the idea!
The option to lock your documents with a password or Touch ID is already available in the app. Make sure you’ve updated to the latest version.
