Virtual shelf for binders and notebooks
Pls create visual ‘master 3ring binders’ that I can put on a ‘virtual bookshelf’ with custom labels on the spine. That I can drag left or right, top shelf or bottom shelf, Like in real life. I really need a ‘one screen bookshelf’. Or multiple bookshelves.
This visual organizes my thoughts so much more than swiping through notebook covers.

Feature Request: Multi-Window Note Editing on iPad
Hello GoodNotes Team,
I’ve been a long-time user of GoodNotes, and I really appreciate the seamless experience it provides for note-taking and organizing documents. I would like to suggest a feature that I believe could significantly improve productivity for iPad users: multi-window note editing.
Currently, it is not possible to open two notes side by side in GoodNotes, which makes referencing or transferring information between notes less convenient. With a multi-window feature, users could:
View two or more notes simultaneously for easier cross-referencing.
Drag and drop text, images, or handwriting between notes.
Increase productivity for students, professionals, and anyone managing multiple documents.
This feature would make GoodNotes even more powerful as a digital notebook and productivity tool. I hope the team considers adding it in a future update.
Thank you for your hard work and dedication to making GoodNotes the best note-taking app!
Best regards,

Avoid erasing subsequent contents when autofilling
When autofilling, GoodNote will erase the first word in the next line (specifically, the first word in a list on the following line). Please stop autofilling from eating contents on a different line.

Update the writing on the screen feature
I want to write on the screen and use it as Google Docs or Obsidian, Notion, etc. But it doesn't have any fonts and I want to take written notes on it because handwriting everything or using text boxes is tiring.

code insert
Notion has a feature to insert code and choose which language you're using so that it automatically uses that language's formatting conventions. I am a computer science student who prefers taking most notes by hand which is why I don't typically use Notion, but Goodnotes makes it harder to insert code examples when I need them.

Keep "Show pdf-outline" setting as selected
Some pdf documents imported to a goodnotes folder to already have a lot of annoying outlines in them. Goodnotes helps you with not showing them by selecting that in the outline section with a checkmark.
After closing the folder and opening it again, the checkmark is set back to "show pdf-outline", so it originally shows the pdf-outline all the time which is super annoying.
Could you please import the feature that the checkmark stays as selected by the user, so that he can decide for every single folder if he wants to see the pdf-outlines or only hisself.

highlighter memorisation
I want to have a highlighter that blocks out whatever is highlighted when toggled on. Just like how you can block the words that are highlighted in red by green screen.
It will be useful when you are trying to remember keywords and equation.

From Engineer’s Dream to Daily Frustration: What Happened to GoodNotes
I’ve been using GoodNotes for nearly five years, and this new update is by far the worst one I’ve ever experienced. It’s not just me — all of my fellow students are on the brink of a mental breakdown. Everything related to engineering drawings and technical plans used to work perfectly before. Now, it’s an absolute pain.
The “draw and hold” function is especially terrible. In the old version, you could draw a rectangular shape and edit it while still holding the pen. The resizing started from one corner of the shape, and you could make it bigger or smaller from that point. Now, when you draw a shape, it expands in all directions — it’s always too big, and you can’t make it smaller.
You also can’t extend a line anymore. If you try to draw a new line in addition to an old one, the new line doesn’t keep the same angle and is never aligned correctly.
If you activate shape filling with “draw and hold,” you can’t delete the filling. That’s really disappointing. I used to love this feature, but I can’t use it anymore because it fills areas even when you don’t want it to. Normally, you could just delete the filling and move on — but now, that doesn’t work.
Another big issue is with shape recognition. I draw a line, and GoodNotes turns it into an ellipse or some completely random shape.
And one more thing: if you want to write a quick note — in the old version, you just clicked the button and could immediately type with the keyboard on the whole page, like in a Word document. Now, you have to long-tap and select the function from a second menu. That’s three extra steps for something that used to take one. Why?
On top of that, you can’t rotate shapes anymore, and you can’t draw rectangular shapes unless they’re perfectly aligned with the page lines. That completely ruins flexibility for technical or engineering sketches.
This just goes on and on — it’s such a mess. I honestly don’t understand why they changed everything from a perfectly functional, engineering-friendly tool into this chaos. I’m so frustrated.

Pen settings
Please make the pen settings like tip sharpness, pressure, sensitivity, etc. Customised or tailored as per user choice.
Pen features in Freenotes app provide good handwriting and such should be incorporated in the Goodnotes app too for better user experience.
Please upgrade these features in the next update.

Pen settings
Make the pen settings like Tip sharpness, pressure sensitivity, tip flatness etc. tailored/customised as per anyone’s choice. (Currently it offers only 25,50,75,100%)
Please improve this and move away from “one size fits all approach”.
Also, check the stylus pen in Freenotes app, it has really good features.
So, I request the concerned goodnotes team to upgrade our user experience.2 votes -
Word should attach to sticker
Words should be attached to stickers. I use Goodnotes mainly for studying readings, so I would highlight sentences and make some notes on stickers. However, when I move my stickers, the highlights and lines will move too! It really undermines the experience of using Goodnotes to study.

Font size adjustment function
Hi!
-I want the font size adjustment function to allow selecting the font size display position and entering the size you want to change instead of the slider which makes it very difficult to change
-Also, I keep changing the font size once but when I exit that area to create a new writing area, I have to drag the slider to adjust the font size again.

Total Time per Document & Overview Charts for All Notes
I'm genuinely impressed with the timer and stopwatch features. They've been instrumental in boosting my productivity and focus during study sessions by using time-based challenges.
However, to truly master my time management, I've identified a key missing piece: the ability to review my total time spent across all documents. This macro-level insight is crucial for making informed decisions about where to focus my efforts, allowing me to align my study time with my actual priorities.
An excellent example of this kind of analytics is found in Jibble. Integrating similar charts and graphs directly within Goodnotes—offering a visual breakdown of my study habits—would be an absolute game-changer. To my knowledge, this level of detailed time tracking analytics is currently absent in competing note-taking apps, positioning Goodnotes to become the undisputed leader in this space.
Thank you to the entire Goodnotes team for your continuous hard work and for building such a wonderful tool!

Added image text OCR functionality
If you import a document converted into PDF into GoodNote or add an image file as a GoodNote file document as an image file, all pages will be in images. At this time, the text file was converted into an image, so even if you want to select the text, the text will not be selected. Also, since the text is not selected, even if you ask GoodNote AI, the OCR function in the AI function does not seem to work well yet. I hope the OCR function is added when I import the PDF files I have imaged into GoodNote.

The timer should have an alert sound
I tried the new timer tool and I like that I can see the time passing at the top but it doesn’t make any sound when the timer ends. I think it shows a message at the top but if I’m involved in different apps or in books and I’m not looking I miss it.
The timer should make a sound, an alert that tells me time is up.

Innovative Study Feature: Color-Based Toggle for Hiding/Showing Annotations (Killer Feature for Students)
Feature Suggestion for GoodNotes: Color-Based Review/Masking Mode
Subject: Innovative Study Feature: Color-Based Toggle for Hiding/Showing Annotations (Killer Feature for Students)
1. Background and User Need
I am a long-time user of iPhones and MacBooks, yet I prioritize using the Samsung Galaxy Tab because of its superior writing feel and the ability to instantly annotate PDFs. I am currently preparing for professional exams, which requires intensive review and memorization. To optimize my study routine, I use a physical method similar to a 'secret pen', where I hide the answers and solutions for efficient self-testing. Implementing this concept into GoodNotes would create a massive competitive advantage and drastically improve the learning efficiency for all students and test-takers.
- Proposed Feature: Color-Based Toggle for Hiding/Showing Ink I propose adding a 'Color-Based Masking/Review Toggle' feature to GoodNotes.
How it Works:
Setting: Introduce a dedicated setting (e.g., within the Pen Tool Palette or a separate menu) called 'Color Masking Mode'.
Toggle Action: The user selects specific pen colors (e.g., Red, Pink, Highlight Yellow) and designates them as 'Hidden' colors.
When the global 'Review Toggle' switch is activated (e.g., a simple button on the toolbar):
All annotations written in the designated 'Hidden' colors instantly disappear from the screen.
Toggling the switch again makes the hidden ink reappear immediately.
- Key Use Case (From a Test-Taker's Perspective) Preparation: Open a practice test PDF. Write the correct answers in Red and brief explanations in Pink.
Repeated Study: Activate the 'Review Toggle' to instantly make the Red and Pink ink disappear. This provides a clean, blank test paper for quick re-testing without the need to duplicate or erase the PDF.
Instant Check: After self-testing, toggle the switch off to re-display the Red answers and Pink explanations in 1 second, allowing for lightning-fast answer verification.
- Expected Benefits Maximized Learning Efficiency: Eliminates the need to duplicate $\text{PDF}$s or tediously erase and rewrite answers, saving significant study time.
Competitive Edge: This is a unique feature currently absent from major competitor note-taking apps. It would serve as a powerful 'Killer Feature' to attract the large and lucrative market of students and professional exam candidates to GoodNotes.
High User Satisfaction: This function addresses a core pain point for GoodNotes' primary user base, ensuring high practical utility and satisfaction.
This function has the potential to revolutionize digital note-taking for academic and professional preparation. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Curves+Grouping+Layers
1) Make curves with more than 3 points because I like to make vector drawings and it’s really hard to make a variety of curves when limited to 3 points
2) Add a grouping feature which allowed you to move sections instead of the individual components more easily
3) Adding some version of editable layers would make creating images and diagrams easier instead of doing “move to front” or “move to back”
