Tips to make your suggestion visible and bring your idea to life:

  • Search existing threads. Your idea might already be under discussion. If so, feel free to add your input or vote on it. More votes = more visibility.
  • Create a new thread if it’s new. If your suggestion is unique, start a new thread. Write a short, clear headline that quickly conveys your main idea, and include context and details in the description.
  • Separate multiple ideas. If you have several suggestions, split them into individual topics so we can review (and others can vote on) each one more effectively.

  1. I have downloaded and imported a PDF which has a structure which is visible in goodnotes and makes it easier to navigate. However, when I check the PDF which is automatically synced to my Dropbox, it does not have the structure which is unfortunate as I see no reason for it to be omitted when you're already able to successfully import it.

  2. It would be so awsome for the autobackup feature to have an option to backup all docs to pdf but without the background template. i know it can be tricky if you wrote on a black template with white ink, but for all people using templates just as a guide to keep sentences straight and a yellowish paper colour to avoid eye strain it would be the best feature ever

  3. Please add a “paste in place” option to the pop up that appears when you press and hold on a page. I would like to copy one or more elements from a page and then paste in the same position on a new page.

I use GN as a planner (on my iPad) and frequently tweak and then reuse layouts I like. This would make quicker work of it.

  4. There have been topics on having divider tabs. I would like to expand on this and also request the option of sub-divider tabs. For example...

For something like a planner journal, there would be 12 main divider sections (one per month). Within each month there could be two separate dividers for weekly and daily pages plus any additional dividers for miscellaneous content relative to that month only.

For student notes, the main dividers could be the classes and the sub-dividers could be for various assignments for each class.

If a divider is a MAIN divider, it is accessible from any…

  5. I want the highlighter function to have option to work like eraser—use once and then automatically ‘snap back’ to writing tool. I often am writing, then want to highlight one thing, and immediately go back to writing, and when I do that a lot, clicking back on writing tool becomes a pain.

  7. Option to keep adding new pages to a file when we get current page half written, like instead of being always swiping up or manually adding a new page when we need it is a waste of time, with a simple option you could auto add new pages as getting to the bottom of the current page

  9. I know there are tabs, but id like a way to open another document without having to leave my current note and go searching in the folders/search field directly. I feel it could save time.

  11. First of all, I wanted to propose an improvement to the pencil, asking for more types of strokes like a real pencil. A good example is the apple notes, which are very realistic and good. Improve compatibility with Apple Pencil, being able to tilt it and make it thicker, the example is the same as the previous one.
Secondly, I wanted to propose a new tool that can insert links into a note that takes us directly to the browser.
I also wanted to propose that they join the Apple Files app, so you can open them directly from there.…

  14. Most of us can agree that a page of notes with no lines looks neater and as a result, makes notes more appealing and engaging. However, handwriting on a blank page can often lead to slanted writing which has the opposite effect. Therefore a very useful feature (I believe) would be to have a feature where if you zoom/close up on your notes page, gridlines show up, and then when you zoom out, the page returns to having a blank (no lines) background.

  16. There's similar ideas to be able to write over an existing annotation so you can selectively erase.

    This suggestion is different

I want to be able to flatten an annotation so it's not enormous! I like to do a detailed drawing, and then I'm done! I don't need my exported PDF to be massive, and I'm not going to come back and edit.

By not flattening, the notebook gets quite sluggish!

    Use case:
I use GoodNotes as a laboratory notebook

  17. It would be nice to be able to search for his notes. What has been highlighted or what has been drawn, or written by hand, because global research does not allow it. And / Or have a list of annotations that we made and in which we could do research

  18. Instead of "Using the Lasso Tool" guide button, you can change that area into toggle-able options for "selecting handwriting", or "selecting image", et cetera. With this way, I don't have to open the context menu from lasso tools, and also, that space will be more useful and UX friendly too.

Please see my image for referencing.

  19. I believe that you all should do an X-ray feature like kindle does that allows you to view only the highlighted portions of your document. This will allow a more condensed view of the things that you deemed most important in the document. This would be so helpful with students as it would allow them a much quicker way to create summary sheets of lectures by distilling only the things that they highlighted ie. what they found most important.
