Rethinking the Future of Digital Note-Taking
Hello everyone,
This discussion invites thoughts on how Goodnotes for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS could be improved to better serve modern users.
Smarter Contextual Features
What if Goodnotes could recognize context better? For example, writing down a date could trigger a prompt to add it to your calendar. Or sketching a flowchart could allow you to convert it into a structured diagram automatically.
Seamless Cross-Device Experience
The iPad version shines, but the macOS counterpart could use a redesign to feel more intuitive. Gesture support, better syncing speeds, and improved editing tools would help unify the experience across platforms.

Vertical Scroll Lock for Writing Stability
I would like to suggest a new feature for GoodNotes. When the scrolling direction is set to vertical, it would be great to have an option to lock the scroll strictly to vertical movement. For example, after setting a zoom ratio, pressing a button could lock the view so that touch gestures only move the page up and down, with no side-to-side movement at all.
The reason is that palm rejection is not perfect, and my notes often shift sideways unintentionally while writing. This feature would really improve the writing experience.

Export Comments
I often need to export my comments as PDFs for my workflow and records. Currently, I could not find a direct option to export comments in PDF format. I believe adding this feature would significantly improve user experience, as it is a simple yet powerful addition for documentation and sharing purposes.
Could you please let me know if this feature is on your development roadmap, or if there is an alternative way to export comments as PDF for now?
Thank you very much for your continuous support and improvement of the platform.

Tape
Tape…Notability just published an update to allow something like white out tape that can be tapped to make transparent and then tapped again to ”reapply.”
Teaching implications of such a tool are obvious and awesome.
Please give us such a feature.

Different saved font/size for each notebook
Not every notebook is the same, being able to save font styles and sizes per notebook would be infinitely easier and would encourage people to buy different notebooks

Multiple undo/redo once.
Hi.
May I know if we have any ways that we can undo or redo for multiple times once? When we frequently erase and write things, if sometimes we realize the things go wrong and we need to get back to the original text we wrote, we usually need to press undo for loads of times.
If there is currently no such a function can we set, for example, long pressing the undo for a continuous undo action so that we can easily stop nearby the past moment we want?
Thanks!

I hope we can add a theme feature
The Good Note UI is designated blue by default, and I want to change the UI with various colors. I hope they add theme features like this.

Allow users to create integrated notebooks with custom PDFs, keeping jump links and unlocking full planner-style Goodnotes functionality.
What I need:
• A blank “integrated notebook” shell we can start with
• The ability to import my own PDF page or planner template
• Fully working jump-links — which I already handle myself
• Access to your under-the-hood integrations: date logic, calendar hookups, auto-navigation, to-dos, etc.
• No fluff—no dated layouts, stickers, or templated design—just raw power and flexibility.1 vote -
Structure saving
In structures, you can choose wheter you want to see the PDF-structuring.
Please save this decision, so you dont have to select it every time you open the document and want to look into your own structuring.
(It is very annoying, please fix that)1 vote -
Lasso's 'copy' button copies EVERYTHING in ONE CLICK
I want to be able to quickly take screenshots of portions of my lecture slides, copy them, and paste them elsewhere. Currently, the screenshot function takes 4 clicks: Lasso->screenshot->share->copy. It would be a lot easier if there was a way to Lasso a portion of the slide I want copied, and in one click copy ALL the contents of the lasso -- INCLUDING the slide itself, NOT JUST DRAWINGS/IMAGES/ETC.

Calculator

Double click to convert handwriting to text
Currently, you have to use the lasso tool to highlight handwritten text, then click convert, then several more prompts. In Nebo, you merely have to double click. A quicker option (such as a double click) would make the process quicker and simpler (can retain current process).

Add Masking Tape Support to Pointer Mode for Frequent Presenters
Adding masking tape functionality to pointer mode would be a valuable improvement for users who frequently conduct classes, seminars, or webinars.
It would allow a more professional, fluid interaction with the displayed material and help maintain audience engagement.2 votes -
Improve Tool Switching by Adding Masking Tape to Pointer Mode
It would be much more convenient if masking tape could be used directly in pointer mode, without the need to change tools every time.
This small change would greatly enhance efficiency, especially when delivering lessons or explanations that require continuous interaction with the displayed content.2 votes -
Allow Masking Tape Access During Pointer Use
Please enable the masking tape feature to be opened and closed even when using pointer mode, as this would make presentations and lectures far more seamless.
Currently, having to exit pointer mode just to manage masking tape causes an unnecessary break in focus and disrupts the continuity of the session.2 votes -
