Double-Page View / Split View / Side-by-side View
As a professional musician, GoodNotes is almost perfect for viewing and marking up sheet music both during rehearsals and performances! In my circle of friends and colleagues, GoodNotes is really becoming our go-to app! We unanimously agree that the only feature that is missing for viewing sheet music is the ability to view two pages at once (like an open book or in Mac's Preview "double-page viewing"). Is it possible that I'm just not seeing this feature?

We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

I want to view two pages of the same PDF at the same time (like a book) Adobe Acrobat, Mac Preview and PDF Expert can all do it. Side by side split window is not the same and bad for viewing and navigating through the same document. It would be life changing!!

Goodnotes’ “solution” to this issue is simply insufficient. That’s better for multitasking, but we really want a 2 page view for one notebook! Not an awkward split screen view that requires double the work to scroll pages.

An actual 2-page view, not the clunky new window stuff.
I dislike that threads requesting a 2-page view in landscape mode were commented as “resolved” by Goodnotes with the release of new windows modes. Using the Split View mode for viewing two pages at once is super clunky. You have to awkwardly scroll twice and activate tools twice, etc. there should be a way to see two pages at once of a notebook IN THE SAME WINDOW.

I really like this idea — double-page viewing would make studying and note comparison so much easier. It reminds me of how flexible tools and apps have become lately. I was exploring https://pojav-launcher.org/
recently, and it’s interesting to see how different platforms are evolving to give users more control over their experience. -

Yes, this is an essential feature! Many textbooks have a double page layout with images, diagrams or equations on one side and the respective explanations/commentary on the other. Quite a view even have double page graphics.
GN already implemented continuous vertical scrolling. At the very least we need the same for horizontal scolling. That can’t be any more difficult!? -

The same. I really like reading books and in general I really like this format. I recently started writing my book and mostly write in the application. Especially when I found AuthorHouse reviews https://authorhouse.pissedconsumer.com/review.html I try to write more because I have long dreamed of publishing my own book. I hope the support service will see this and help us with this issue

It would be amazing if there was a double page view IN the app as a feature, not depending on the iPad function, but the ability to view 2 pages as once IN a notebook, so you can read it like an actual textbook.

My feature request for joined pages when vertical scrolling was merged into this feature, but this is totally different. I still desperately want joined pages when vertical scrolling. So I need to resubmit my feature request?

Like as if you were reading a book. There you have to pages showing at the same time. It would be really helpfull to be able to scroll horizontal and view the pages side by side as you are scrolling. Just like in a normal notebook.

In Japanese documents, books, and scripts, the text is often written vertically and bound on the right side.
With the current horizontal scrolling, the reading direction feels reversed. It would be very helpful if GoodNotes could:
Allow users to switch the horizontal scrolling direction (left ↔ right)
Provide an option to stop scrolling in between and view two pages side by side (like in vertical scrolling)
These features would make reading and annotating right-bound documents much more natural.

Goodnotes replied, yet couldn’t give us the feature, the customers have been demanding. On the contrary, Notability feels much better at listening to customers feedbacks as they keep on adding new stuff that the people demand.
-
Dr Varun commented
Idk if such feedbacks matter or not, considering the users have been demanding this feature from way back by 2019 and yet, since such a long time, this has been ignored by Goodnotes
