This is not a resolution. You have to select the Pin Text Tool EVERY time you go back and forth to the text option from other tools. Y’all are just adding ANOTHER step. Remove the lasso from the default. Allow users to switch from tool to tool as needed. Why is this so difficult?

Wow, thank you for the update Goodnotes! This is the first time I’ve taken to the comments to give feedback on an update that doesn’t work for me and glad to feel heard!

The floating menu gets in the way of what I’m doing. Would be more ideal if I had the press and hold option back which allowed me to select all, copy and paste at ease.

There is no select all option anymore and it is very tedious using the drop down. It’s not as smooth as it used to be. Would appreciate the option back of pressing and holding on text and getting a pop up list of things to do including cut, paste, select all.

This is driving me up the wall!

I also want to stress, that i loved using good notes! With the new update its so stressful to use good notes, because everything is so impractical now. The text icons switches immediately to the lasso icon, I can’t really select a text field smoothly, the marker pen is so sensitive that it doesn’t straighten my text marker line anymore.. everything is just really annoying. Please make changes back to the old update

I use text box frequently and really dislike that after each use I must manually choose it again and again when I am working. It’s very disrupting. Please make text box a sticky tool or change this when. you update the app again. I have been a user since 2018 and have the latest version. I really find this annoying!!!

I think in the years I’ve used Goodnotes I’ve used the lasso maybe 5-10 times. I use the text tool constantly, and I create many text boxes over a single page. Switching back to the text tool after each one is just making the app cumbersome and miserable to use, and I have begun to research alternatives; if a fix isn’t imminent, I’ll be canceling my subscription and moving elsewhere.

Agree! This makes me want to transfer everything over to another app. It's such a waste of time having to go back and forth for a tool I don't even use.

I chatted over email with support. Apparently the tools are “‘sticky” and “‘non sticky” the ones considered the most used are sticky and for some reason a notes apps doesn’t consider the text tool a sticky tool meaning it won’t stay on that tool. They took the feedback and thanked me but every other day I’m checking updates and try typing and boom- straight back to select tool

I downgraded to Goodnotes 5 over this. I hate everything about this new update. Does anyone at Goodnotes even use the app??

The lasso is very stressful. Not sure what happened but the textbox converting to lasso every time often pushes me to just use Apple notes or Google Docs because it becomes slow and inconvenient during class, on top of other issues, to click the textbox over and over. This may have been a superior tool before the update with auto lasso

When I chose text tool once then it must be stuck until I select another tool. Default lasso tool is just annoying.

Taking notes has become such a nuisance ever since it defaults to lasso.

I am highly considering canceling this app and switching to a different note taking app if this is not remedied in the near future.

Please fix GoodNotes because the lasso tool is taking over. I want to use what I paid for, not spend time looking for a better functioning app.

It's bizarre that in a note taking app, the lasso tool would be treated as the most important tool over the writing selection tool. Not only does the app revert to the lasso tool in all cases when other tools such as picture insert are used, but it's the left-most choice in the tool bar, where you would normally put the most commonly used tool for most users or, perhaps, do like Microsoft has done for a decade and allow users to fully customize the toolbar (not partially, allowing customization of only part of the toolbar). This shows a lack of even basic ui/ux consideration, as well as a lack of understanding of how users use the application. I would expect this from a free app, but I would be willing to bet most people here are, like me, paid customers.

I have loved using Goodnotes until now. I am looking for another notetaking app that does not revert constantly to lasso.

The app is basically unusable for me now as I use the text function constantly.

The textbox tool automatically deselects itself after creating a text box.
This forces users to reselect it every single time. Please keep the textbox active instead of switching away automatically.
This would make typing and note-taking smooth again, just like it used to be.

Please address this issue. Myself and many others are considering finding different platforms solely for this one issue. Such a complete waste of time when this app is called GoodNOTES and its difficult to take notes on.
