  1. Hi Goodnotes Team,

I am a heavy user of Goodnotes on iPad with a Magic Keyboard.

I would like to suggest adding keyboard shortcuts for page navigation, such as:

Next Page: (e.g., Cmd + Right Arrow)
Previous Page: (e.g., Cmd + Left Arrow)
Go to Specific Page: (e.g., Cmd + G)

Currently, I have to manually swipe or tap the screen to turn pages even while typing, which interrupts the workflow.

Having these shortcuts would significantly improve productivity for users who use external keyboards.

Please consider adding this feature in a future update. Thank you!

  2. I have two similar requests:

I am a private tutor so I usually have a couple of standard documents open on my iPad all the time (e.g. PDF of the periodic table). When I close the app (not minimise) or when I press the x button by mistake, I need to re locate it in my folders. I know I can 'favourite' it but it would be so much easier if there is an option to pin it (sort of like in Safari/other web browsers where you can pin open windows). That way it will always open when I open…

  3. A function where you can enlargen the miniatures in the miniature view mode would be handy. That way it is easier to find the correct page which you are looking for.

Perhaps through a preview mode for the individual pages, or better: a setting to see the pages in different patterns e.g. 3 pages next to each other, 2 pages next to each other or single page.

This would come especially handy for flashcards as well, as those are very hard to organise in the miniature mode.

  4. As of now, when you open the Miniature View of a Notebook, the pages are shown from the very start.

I suggest an option to either show the current page first or a button/option to auto-scroll to the current page.

Whenever I work with 300+ flashcards and just want to change the order of a card in the miniature view, I have to scroll a long time to find the current card which I am looking for. It's also very easy to miss when you have a large amount of cards/pages, since you only have the thin blue lining of…

  6. By default, macOS allows us to use 'Command +' to zoom in and 'Command -' to zoom out of any app. This seems to be disabled on the Goodnotes app. Please try to enable this, it helps a ton on scaled displays.

  7. I think that the "Squeeze" Toolbar should always be on top layer of UI. Now that when you use the lasso tool it auto pops up the the UI bar. If I use squeeze since that was the last action I took that should be the UI element that I see.

Hopefully this is an easy fix.

  8. Logitech Creative Console is a device that is programmable for navigating apps i.e. Adobe, Photoshop, Zoom etc. However there isn't an available template for Goodnotes, it can be programmed by each individual user, however it would be fantastic if one were available for all Goodnotes users.

  9. Swiping takes more time and effort for browsing through a document as compared to, e.g., tapping.

In many documents, I see an empty space to the left and right of the page. Couldn‘t this be used to allow tapping to effect immediate page browsing?

  10. When scrolling to add a new page it auto jumps to the bottom of the new page. Instead it should stay at the top of the new page as this is where you will be writing next

  11. The last update brought up the new window which comes up when importing a new pdf document or picture. In that windows you can select if you want to open the document in a new file or put it into an existing notebook. It would be great if you can add a setting possibility to preselect one of these options. I'm never using the possibility to import as a new document but with the new update I'm forced to make a few more clicks now which is annoying.

  12. To making changing between the different menus (i. e. between pen settings, eraser settings) easier and less of a reach, being able to swipe between tool menus to choose different settings would be convenient. For instance, assuming the menu is on the left of the screen and we’re currently on the eraser menu, swiping left from the menu to the edge of the screen (1A) would go to the pen menu(1B). Alternatively swiping right from the edge of the screen to the menu from the eraser settings (2A) would go to text menu (2B). I’ve attached screenshots with arrows for…

  13. Make the pop-up menu for font color, size, and format float. Whenever I want to adjust or edit a text, the menu box pops up and gets in my way of what I want to change. I flip my screen to try to get around it but the menu is still in the way. I can’t drag it to move it.

  14. Dear Goodnotes Team,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to share feedback regarding a recent change in the selection tool behavior in Goodnotes Web.

After the latest update, whenever we select elements on the canvas, several options such as Copy, Cut, Transform, Change Color, etc., automatically appear directly on top of the selected content. This makes the canvas look cluttered and makes it harder for both teachers and students to clearly view or reposition the selected items.

Earlier, the selection experience was much cleaner. When using the lasso selection tool, only the blue dots appeared around the…

  15. Proposal to Improve the Template Change Feature (+ Add “Replace Page” and “Replace File” Functions)

Currently, Goodnotes does not offer a feature that allows users to replace pages in the same way as a “Change PDF” function. While there is a template change feature, it is limited to Goodnotes’ built-in templates and note-style formats, and requires importing content into Goodnotes first.

In many cases, there are situations where a page needs to be replaced—for example, when a lecture material contains typos or when an updated version of the file is provided. Therefore, it would be highly useful to have a…

  17. I would like to see some basic keyboard shortcuts implemented, examples are in the title. Most annoyingly Cmd + W doesn't close a tab but rather exits the document and leaves it open.

Below are some suggestions for shortcuts (shortcuts marked with '*' can be considered extra):

    Window/Tab management:
    - Cmd + W: closes the current tab
    - *Cmd + Opt + W: closes all tabs
    - Cmd + Shift + Esc: exits document view
    - Cmd + Opt + Left/Right: Go to previous/next tab

    File management:
    - Cmd + Opt + N: Creates new File
    - Cmd + Opt…

Keyboard shortcuts for quick new notes creation are live 🎉

    Hello,

Thank you so much for sharing your suggestion! We’re happy to let you know that new keyboard shortcuts are now live on Apple devices starting from version 7.0.32 released today.

    You can now use:

    • Cmd + Shift + N to open QuickNote
    • Cmd + Option + N to create a New Notebook
    • Cmd + N to open a New Window

Feel free to share your feedback and let us know how it works for you!

    Goodnotes Team

  18. I use keyboard shortcuts quite extensively and would like to see some better support on keyboard navigation, especially in the documents view. So opening, renaming, etc. files can be done without a mouse/trackpad. Maybe implement a toggle for this option, so regular users are not affected by default.

  19. Please create an auto-generated table of contents template, that can also be edited. This should include an option to sort by date, through your outline, or topics.

Someone else said "Allow me to select the text, eg my page heading like (meeting to discuss projected financial) and then click on a button which shoots the page heading to an automatically generated table of contents in the front of the Notebook. Table of contents will be built using all the specified headings, and should also display the date of that entry for easy reference." THIS IS GREAT AND SO HELPFUL.

  20. We hope that the button used to return to the desktop, as well as the button for selecting files from the desktop, can be made repositionable.

This would help address the issue on iPad where, in Split View mode, these buttons are obstructed by the window control buttons, preventing users from returning to the desktop while using split-screen mode.
