[Outline] Sub-Outlines / Tabs / Navigation in the notes
When I import some PDFs their outlines are imported too. I love this feature. I have noticed that when this happens, the outlines have sub-outlines to make navigating the outlines easier.
However, I can not create this in my own GoodNotes outlines. It only works when I import a PDF that already has this structure built into it.
I would like to have a feature in GoodNotes where I can create sub-outlines in my notebooks.

Thanks for your feedback!
Sub-outlines will be available very soon.
Stay tuned for updates!

Yes, please add this feature! I download all my textbooks in pdf format to good notes and this will be very helpful. I hope we can also add outlines within sub outlines (but with limit of course)

When I inputted my class Syllabus and other long multiple-page documents to my notebooks they cluttered my notebook. It would be great if we could have a feature that condenses those un-necessary elements to one outline level and separate subsequent pages in the large documents from the rest of the notebook view.
Maybe utilize the vertical and horizontal scrolling? Have normal pages scroll using the user designated scroll direction (eg vertical) and the sub-outline pages scroll the other scroll direction (eg horizontal).
You could only add two directions then I suppose

This may be so useful, please think to incorporate this idea in goodnotes. With these it will be perfect

I would like to be able to categorize each sub-title under a main-title and even have a “shrink” option such that I can greatly reduce the number of titles in my outline. It takes a lot of time to scroll to the bottom otherwise.

In outline mode it would be great if your could nestle pages like sub-items under the major items. Like so
Chapter 1 - pg 1
- getting started pg 3
- next step pg 8
Chapter 2Your get the idea.

When you have too many pages, scrolling thumbnails is cumbersome & outlines are just too general - unless you create an outline for each page (oh ! God ! No !!!)
THIS IS A MUST DO !

I think Goodnotes should do away with categories like PDF outlines and Custom outlines. An outline is an outline irrespective of whether it came with the pdf or I created it. The outline that came with the pdf should be editable. And I should be able to create hierarchy in my own custom outlines.
Outline is one of the crucial feature in my opinion that sets Goodnotes apart from Notability. Please improve/complete this feature.

Yes, a Chapter-Subchapter structure in the outline of our notebooks would be extremely useful.

100% YES! And the functionality of the feature can be improved by allowing users to rearrange the outlines and delete them if necessary. I’m using the outline feature now because I have a notebook with a lot of pages and I needed to make navigation easier, but somehow the order got messed up and I have no way of fixing it..... it ALMOST defeats the purpose of making the outline in the first place 😣

By adding this feature, it will enhance my experience so much!! I started creating one subject notebooks so I have my class in one notebook and to have the outline have subpages and are collapsible will be a gamechanger! It will not only keep everything organized and neat, but the navigation will also be easily managed instead of continuously scrolling to find the specific page/topic on the outline.

Its already great that Outlines in pdf are shown in GoodNotes, but you still cant change their order, rename them, or add anything. Making this possible would probably have to include a function to order the outlines newly created in GoodNotes, and a feature to create suboutlines, and edit them.

100% support this suggestion too here. I think this could really be a game changer, especially for class notes.

Yes Addition of Sub-Outline option would be great for note taking... Especially when you have to re-read it would be easier to navigate... Goodnotes supports the sub-outlines pdfs to be imported and to add a outline I have to outline the whole notes in PDF expert and then import it... which makes the experience less seamless

This is crucial for me. I need to be able to FULLY edit the outline of a pdf like pdfexpert does. Right now, to do the same (create sub outlines, for example), i need to export a pdf, use adobe acrobat pro to edit the outline, compress the pdf because Goodnotes exports horribly large pdfs, import the pdf back to Goodnotes and delete the original file... :-|

It would be so useful to create sub-outlines in a notebook because at some point there are so many outlines that it just gets messy and confusing. At the moment these only get created when you import a PDF.
So pls add this feature.
