1. Issue with different types of documents

   What was the point of dividing typing and writing. There are so many more apps that are better for writing or typing separately. What I liked about Goodnotes is that it didn’t have the hassle of typing a paragraph, printing it or using a different app to make notes on it. For now I will use Word and Notability. I hope there is a way to fix this otherwise I just wasted my money on goodnoted for nothing.

2. Formelschreibfunktion

   Mann kann ja bereits eine mathematische Formel auswählen, in eine Formel umwandeln und danach bearbeiten. Dies ist allerdings sehr kompliziert, da man Funktionen we /fraq oder /phi nicht aus dem Kopf weiß. Man könnte eine Fromelfunktion einfügen, bei der man wie bei einem Taschenrechner verschiedene Funktionen wie einen Bruchstrich oder Wurzel oder hoch und tief schreiben für quadrat ^2, kubik^3 und so weiter sowie eine Suchleiste für Funktionen.

3. iCloud 同步後自動/手動釋出硬碟空間

   目前版本只提供iCloud同步功能，但同步後無法像iCloud檔案管理一樣釋出裝置上的儲存空間。

4. Support LAMY safari note+ stylus features?

   Could Goodnotes use the free LAMY iPadOS SDK framework to support all LAMY safari note+ features?

   Lamy is a well-known pen company that recently released an iOS-compatible digital writing stylus, the safari note+, named in part after its iconic fountain pen of the same shape. This stylus features two assignable buttons in addition to pressure sensitivity, palm rejection etc. on apps that support it. Goodnotes does not support those features currently.

   Under a list of recommended apps (Goodnotes included) LAMY calls out that other app's developers could support the safari note+'s features using the free-of-charge LAMY iPadOS SDK framework. Given the LAMY safari's popularity in the fountain pen world, and the likely overlap with Goodnotes users, it would be worthwhile to support the note+. The two assignable buttons alone is also a very compelling feature that offers a wide range of possibilities to advance our note taking.

5. Bad Performance compared to Apple Notes

   When comparing writing in Goodnotes with Apple notes, Goodnotes fells like the stroke limps behind the Apple Pencil (Pro) when writing. Trust me. Go in Apple Notes and you never want to use Goodnotes again.The Goodnotes 7.0 update is nice but please fix this first!

7. Add Built-in Image Quality Enhancement

   Feature Request:

   Dear Developers,

   I would like to request a built-in image quality enhancement feature for the note-taking app. Imported images often become blurry due to screenshotting or file transfer issues, which affects the reading and viewing experience in notes.

   This feature could include (but not be limited to) AI super-resolution technology—capable of sharpening blurry details, reducing pixelation, and improving overall clarity of imported images. It would greatly enhance the usability of the app when managing image-containing notes, especially for users who frequently add screenshots or transferred images.

9. Better Text Editor - Like Notion

   Notion like document editor. On which I can annotate with pencil. Code format text, colored text, checkbox, toggle and much more like in notion. The current text editor is too rigid. It must be made a bit more user friendly.

10. Directly Import PowerPoints

    Notability allows you to drag and drop PowerPoints. To use Goodnotes, I have to open the PowerPoint, export it as a PDF (you must be a Microsoft 365 subscriber to do this), and then import it to Goodnotes. Since all my lectures are PowerPoints, I uses Notability solely because I don't have to open ~15 PowerPoints to export them as PDFs every week.

11. Goodnotes on Macbook, PDFs text selection not present for copying text or highlight :/

    I have noticed that, on the GoodNotes app for MacBook, I am unable to select or copy text from PDFs, even though the same PDFs allow text selection and copying in other PDF readers. I kindly request that you add this functionality to the GoodNotes app, as it would greatly enhance usability and user experience. Thank you for considering this feature enhancement.

12. bring back the arrow keys to move the cursor when typing

    I use goodnotes without an external keyboard and I found extremely useful the left/right arrow keys to move the cursor when typing because many times it is not easy to place the cursor exactly in the desired position.

14. Add packages for new symbols for math mode

    Add a way for users to add new packages to the preambles of the LaTeX used for the AI, sometimes we just want to use a new symbol and can’t make it because the math mode won’t recognize it. It would be really helpful.

16. copiable markdown format

    As a beta user, I surprisingly find that text mode is available for markdown format. However, when trying to copy what I wrote to other program like obsidian etc, everything ruined. This is a disaster for user who use different software in different platforms!!!!

    I would like to see the ability to add a callout to a notebook page. This would be a small colored block on which text could be written or typed with an arrow or other indicator to a point on the page. This would be similar to a GN post-it note, but it would have an arrow associated with it. My thought is that it would be useful for the callout to be low opacity until it is touched, at which time it would have 100% opacity so it can be read, and then when touched again would return to low opacity. This would make the underlying notes easy to read under the callout. there also could be an option for the opacity always to be high.

    Callouts are useful when adding comments or notes to content, either to oneself or to collaborators. They are sort of like an informal footnote.

    Callouts are common in Word, Acrobat and several other reader/editors, with various shapes for the box and the location indicator. Those should be reviewed for alternative appearances.

    I love the app and use it daily across iPad + Windows. But I’m hitting the same wall every single session: there’s no way to save separate, named pen color palettes for different contexts.

    My workflow swings between:

    White backgrounds (lecture slides, lab reports) → darker inks

    Black backgrounds (my own notes) → lighter/pastel inks

    Right now I’m forced to maintain one long presets strip and manually hunt/eyedropper colors each time. It’s slow, error-prone, and breaks focus. After months of this, it’s honestly pretty frustrating because color is a core UX primitive in note-taking.

    What I’m asking for (minimum viable solution):

    Named palettes (e.g., “Light Paper,” “Dark Paper,” “Highlighters”).

    Per-document palette memory (a notebook remembers which palette it last used).

    Quick toggle (one tap / keyboard shortcut / long-press on the color dot to switch palettes).

    Auto-switch by paper color (optional: when the page/background is dark, default to a designated “Light Inks” palette).

    Import/Export palettes so I can share between iPad, Mac, Windows, and teammates.

    Even just (1) + (2) would remove dozens of taps per day and keep me in flow. I’m a student in engineering; the time savings and reduction in accidental low-contrast marks would be massive across long study sessions.

    Happy to provide a short Loom of the current workaround and test any beta. Please escalate this to product/UX—this feels like one of those small features that compounds into a huge quality-of-life win for a lot of us.

    Thanks for listening, and for building a great app. I really want to keep Goodnotes as my daily driver—this would make that choice easy.

    When I “long press” (problem just occurs whilst journaling) three options pop up “zoom, add link, add comment”. I have long press disable everywhere I can on my end.

20. The ability to draw a line and automatically see its real-world length based on a set scale.

    Dear GoodNotes Team,

    I am a regular user of GoodNotes and I truly appreciate its intuitive interface and powerful tools for working with PDFs and handwritten notes. However, there is one feature that I—and many others in fields like architecture, engineering, and construction—am missing:

    👉 The ability to draw a line and automatically see its real-world length based on a set scale.

    Currently, it is only possible to measure distances using the ruler tool and manually set a scale. But when I draw a freehand line (without the ruler), GoodNotes does not display the length of that line. This makes it difficult to work with scaled drawings or construction plans, where quick distance checks are essential.

    Feature request:
    • Allow users to draw a line and have GoodNotes automatically calculate and display the line’s length, based on a previously defined scale.
    • Ideally, this would also work for multiple connected lines (e.g. paths or polygon shapes).
    • Optionally: Export the measured values as text annotations.

    This would make GoodNotes much more useful for professionals and students working with technical drawings.
