‘Read only’ collaboration
I write exercises for my music students. When synchronising, I would like to have an option, that students can ‘ read only’ instead of ‘read and write’ . Just like many iCloud services work.
And how do I change the name of a folder? Can’t figure it out.

Close last tab
When the option to open documents in a new tab is on, when closing the second to last tab, the option to click x and close the last remaining tab is removed and you can only click the arrow to go back to the document library. When you then open a new document, the tab from the previous work session is also there. You should be able to close the last remaining tab. So that when you open a new document it is the only open document.

Annotate
Annotation of notes where another sheet pops up to the side of the page I’d like to take more notes on. This way my notes can added to busy slides without having to do a ton of scrolling.

Export Over Writes Original on Google Drive
As a teacher, I use GoodNotes as a smart board by presenting on projector. I usually upload blank template of today's lesson in a Google Drive where students find the notes, this is the blank document to start. As I teach, I like to upload the updated version to the same folder, but want the option to have GoodNotes overwrite or replace the original file with the same name so the new version is what students get. That way I don't have to go in after to delete the original so only the new one is there.

PowerPoint Notes/Comments Tab
When converting a powerpoint to GoodNotes, it would be great if the comments and notes that were attached in the PowerPoint were able to be transferred as well. Since the conversion to online, my professors just post the slides with notes attached to certain slides to elaborate more on the topics. These comments and notes aren’t transferred but it would be nice to get these ported over to GoodNotes.

Pencil color opacity
The colors of the pencil should be able to have transparency, so I can write above diagrams or tables, but can still see the original content.
The best would be an adjustable alpha channel for each color.26 votes -
Stylus, account, reminders.
The new upgrade (GoodNotes 5) is for sure incredible. However, the reason why I chose to download GoodNotes (4), was because there was no other note-taking app that was compatible with another stylus such as Adonit, rather than the Apple Pencil. So, to conclude, I think an upgrade to have the possibility to connect different styluses will widen the approach and customer affiliations.
Create an account option so that data is not lost, and so there is no need to use another app to keep the data.
Reminders for to-do lists, daily organization, etc.

Section Breaks in Thumbnail View
There are only two things I’d change about Goodnotes 5, and this is the more prominent of them. I would like to have the ability to add sections to the thumbnail view, just to make it easier to find chapters/sections/topics in my classes. A simple line between the first and the next section with an area to write the name of the section would be more than enough. I have used outlines some but they don’t provide enough oversight in my opinion. I really hope something like this comes to fruition. Just as a side note I’d also like to…

Import, Save last import address
When importing files import as new document takes directly to the home of Documents. It would be greate that it allow user to choose remember when we last import or start over.
I do Add multiple files one by one. in that case I have to go thru all the way from biggnining to find my folder.3 votes -
highlighter size
I suggest to let smaller size for the highlighter! I use it for coloring on my Bullet Journal and it will be so much useful if it can be made smaller or bigger, the same as the pen size for little details. The 1 size is too big for some details.

Ability to delete and / or disable search history
Currently, if you look up something, the term is being saved in the search history.
As far as I know, there is no possibility to disable the search history or to delete either a single entry or all entries art once.
I miss an option to delete entries or to limit the search history to e.g. three entries.

Fast zooming (control + mouse wheel shortcut).
Hello,
please, include a very useful shortcut for zooming in .PDFs or any notes by "option + mouse wheel".
Especially, when I work without a Touch Bar (external monitor etc.), it becomes quite handy. Many 3rd party Apps use this.

Allow to move handwriting and images between pages when using the lasso tool
It would be great if one could use the lasso tool between pages instead of having to copy and paste to move notes/images from one page to another.

Undo shape
The shape tool does not respond to the undo feature like it should. Resize via the shape tool will not revert to the last size if I hit the undo button. This is an easy fix that should be a thing already.

Make Goodnotes for Mac a universal binary for Intel/Apple Silicon
Considering that Goodnotes is already on iPhone/iPad and the Mac version uses Catalyst, I'm surprised that's it's taking so long to release a Mac universal binary version for the Apple Silicon Macs. What is the timeline for a universal release?

moving the image from one page to several pages next
when I was taking notes, I needed a picture from the page 1 to page 5. I made a copy of that image and tried to drag that image down to the 5th page but I couldn't move several pages down when I am holding the the copy of the image.
the only way was to make copy on each page. meaning when you make a copy you can only drag it around whatever page shown on a screen, no further.10 votes -
Snap / Aligning feature for Mac version
Love the iPad app for handwriting and the companion Mac version, where I mainly use the text tool. Is it possible to have some helpers for aligning, centering for text box. Thanks

more textboxes default setup
Il love the fact that we can define a default setup for our textboxes. I use it to quickly write important things in red boxes.
Althought it would be great to have 3 or 4 default setup instead of only one.

Kanji paper as draft (for Chinese and Japanese characters)
Implement Kanji paper as draft.
For learning and writing Japanese / Chinese Characters (Kanji), a specific paper is used (see attached img). Implementing this paper style in GoodNote drafts would be great!4 votes
