   Currently, Goodnotes only allows users to tap and create a Text Box in completely blank areas where no document text exists. When I tap directly over or near areas with existing document text, the app completely ignores my touch input and refuses to open a Text Box at that exact spot.

   My entire workflow depends on tapping directly on or right next to document text to type notes, answers, and annotations. However, because the app forcefully prioritizes the underlying document text, manual touch inputs are completely blocked. Having to create a Text Box in empty margins and then manually drag it over every single time is extremely inefficient and frustrating.

   This is a fundamental feature flaw that severely hinders the user experience. To fix this workflow-breaking issue, I strongly urge you to implement the following improvements in an upcoming update:

   1. [Priority Fix] Text Box Creation: When the Text Box tool is active, tapping anywhere on the page—including directly over document text—should instantly create a Text Box at that exact spot.

5. Request for Layer Functionality Support

   Hello Goodnotes Team,

   I am a long-time user who deeply enjoys using Goodnotes for taking notes and organizing documents.

   I am writing to suggest a feature that would greatly improve the user experience.

   Other note-taking apps (such as Flexcil) offer a Layer feature, which allows users to separate handwritten notes, text boxes, and imported images/PDF files. In Goodnotes, however, the lack of layers makes it quite inconvenient when working with overlapping elements.

   Currently, when I write over an inserted image or pasted document, trying to select or edit only the handwriting often results in accidentally moving or selecting the image underneath. To avoid this, I have to manage handwritten notes and pasted files separately, which significantly slows down my workflow.

   If Goodnotes could introduce Layer support (or a Feature to Lock/Separate images and pen strokes), it would solve these conflicts and drastically improve productivity for many users.

   I sincerely hope the development team considers adding layer support in a future update.

   Introducing the Polish language would make the app much easier to use for Polish-speaking users and make it more accessible to a wider audience.

7. Probleme und Verbesserungswünsche zur Windows-Version

   sehr problematischer Workflow, da viel Zeitverlust durch folgende wiederkehrende Probleme:

   Programm/App im Vergleich zur Apple Version sehr viel langsamer
   Programm/App schließt sich oft, wenn von Dokument zu Dokument gewechselt wird
   Abmeldung von Geräten die selten genutzt werden
   Programm/App springt während der Arbeit oft zum Startbildschirm zurück

8. Add text doc as a page

   For the text doc to be useful to me I need it to be an option to add it as a page within a normal notebook. I always use both typed and hand-written notes interchangeably. And I usually have one notebook per subject. So it would be so helpful to have the option to add a text document just as a page (I don‘t mind if it is size restricted, just like with pages when doing handwritten notes). Because currently the only option to have that is to export the text document and re-add it as a pdf to the notebook. At that point, it is more worth it to me to type the notes in a more advanced document app (Word, Pages…).

9. Allow free page rotation for more comfortable handwriting

   Please add the ability to rotate the page freely to a custom angle using a two-finger gesture, similar to rotating the canvas in Procreate.

   When writing on paper, I naturally tilt my notebook. In Goodnotes, I have to physically rotate my iPad to get the same comfortable writing angle, which is inconvenient when using a stand or case.

   Ideally, this would include:

   Free rotation while writing, with an option to lock the angle.

   A quick reset to return the page upright.

   A setting to enable or disable the gesture to prevent accidental rotation.

   This would rotate only the page view, keeping the toolbar upright and leaving the actual document and exported PDFs unchanged. Even a small tilt would make long note-taking sessions much more comfortable.

11. Zoom + Remove Blank space for Text Doc on Mac

    Currently, Text Documents are displayed in a relatively narrow, fixed-width column, leaving substantial unused white space on either side of the screen. Even when the Goodnotes window is maximised, I cannot enlarge the document or adjust its width to make better use of the available screen space.

    This makes reading, studying and working with longer documents unnecessarily difficult, particularly on larger Mac displays.

    I would greatly appreciate the following improvements:

    Adjustable document width: Allow users to expand or narrow the text column, ideally with a "Fit to Window" option that automatically adapts to the screen size.

    Independent zoom controls: Introduce adjustable zoom levels (e.g. 75–200%) using keyboard shortcuts, trackpad gestures or a zoom slider, without changing the document's actual font formatting.

    Customisable reading layouts: Offer narrow, standard and wide document layouts to accommodate different screen sizes and reading preferences.

12. Add a sub outline in the outline section for more smooth navigation through pdf

    every topic have a broad topic and many sub topics … from that broad topic we cant-find the sub topics easily we have to hit and try on different broad topic so the feature of sub outline is great to get that very topic instantly

    Goodnotes Cloud synchronisiert derzeit die gesamte Bibliothek. Für berufliche und private bzw. schulische Inhalte wäre eine Einstellung sinnvoll, mit der einzelne Ordner von der Cloud-Synchronisierung ausgeschlossen werden können. So könnten Nutzer gemeinsam an bestimmten Dokumenten arbeiten, ohne vertrauliche berufliche Inhalte hochzuladen.

18. More Line Preset Slots

    I would like to be able to have more slots to add different preset lines. Right now, there is only 3 and I need more so that I can have one dedicated to dotted lines as well as different widths because I do not want to sacrifice the three I already have.

    I would like Goodnotes to offer different storage capacities depending on which subscription plan a user has.

    The current 5 GB storage limit is far too low, especially for users who have used Goodnotes for several years and store a large number of notebooks, PDFs, images and documents in the app.

    A paid subscription should include significantly more storage than a basic or lower-tier plan. For example, Goodnotes could offer storage levels such as:

    • Basic / lower-tier plan: 5–10 GB
    • Standard paid plan: 50 GB
    • Premium / higher-tier plan: 100 GB or more

    Users who pay more for Goodnotes should have access to more storage, and there could also be an option to purchase additional storage separately if needed.
