1. Allow text sizes below 8pt (1–7pt)

   Hello, thank you for always providing a wonderful app.

   I would like to request a feature regarding the text tool in GoodNotes 6.
   
   In the current version, the minimum font size is fixed at 8pt.
   
   However, in previous versions, being able to use 1–7pt was extremely helpful for writing small annotations, subscripts, chemical formulas, and compact notes.

   If possible, I would greatly appreciate it if you could:
   ・ Allow font sizes below 8pt again (1–7pt)

   This function would benefit many users who need fine, detailed writing.

2. GoodNotes 6 did this better. Bring those text features back.

   I’m glad to see that some parts of the app have improved with the latest update. However, the text editing experience is still much less convenient compared to GoodNotes 6.

   Why did you add the unnecessary “Modern, Classic, Technical” text panel in the text box? Please replace it with the “Recently Used Fonts” feature like in GoodNotes 6. Many users frequently switch between multiple fonts, so removing that feature truly makes no sense.

   Also, I really hope you bring back the option to keep the font, size, and text settings fixed at the top like in GoodNotes 6. Something that used to take one tap now requires two or three taps — and it feels like a step backward rather than an improvement.

   I appreciate the efforts being made, but I sincerely hope the next update will further improve the text experience and usability.

3. Please bring back our peaceful everyday lives!!! Why the latest update is so bad.

   I’ve been using Goodnotes every single day for years. I truly appreciated its clean interface and powerful features that supported my workflow. But the most recent update has drastically changed that, in all the wrong ways.

   I kept telling myself, “This update must be useful. I just need to give it time and get used to it.”
   So I patiently tried using it for several days, but in the end, I came to the conclusion that this update is harming my mental well-being.

   Let me outline a few reasons why this update has made the experience worse:

   • Inability to draw proper straight lines
   

   I often draw lines at various angles, but now the shape tool struggles with even basic diagonal lines. Why am I getting curves when I clearly intend to draw straight lines? Also, I can’t fine-tune the endpoints of lines by holding the pen anymore.

   • Eraser placement is inefficient
   

   Accessing the eraser now requires tapping into the pen tool. However, the eraser should always be one tap away, whether I’m using the shape tool or lasso. Hiding it under another layer slows down the process and creates unnecessary friction.

   • No way to draw complex polygons
   

   After the update, how am I supposed to draw pentagons or anything more complex? The shape tool turns them into circles, and of course, the long-press method(pen tool) can't help it.

   Additionally, sometimes I want a filled shape, and sometimes I don’t. But now I can’t erase just the fill color with the eraser tool — I have to turn off the fill option manually every time when I want to draw non filled shapes. That’s very inconvenient.Why must I toggle the “fill” option every single time? Let us erase just fill color like we could before.

   Editing shape points is also more cumbersome now—you have to tap them individually just to adjust. And rotation is inexplicably removed. Why take away such essential control?

   Oh, and by the way—parabolas? Gone.

   Many of the features that made me choose Goodnotes in the first place have vanished.

   Maybe there are some benefits to this update, but I haven’t found any. More importantly, why remove existing functionality that worked perfectly fine? That’s not an improvement—it’s a regression.

   Please, give us a way to revert to the previous version. I just want to return to the smooth experience I had before. Please bring back our everyday peace.

4. CODE FIRST BEFORE DELETION OF GOODNOTES ACCOUNT

   Goodnotes 6 should be able to add a feature wherein a request for authentication code is sent first before deletion of account. Sometimes people “misclick” the delete button account which made other devices log out of the account. It is a hassle for everyone 😫

6. Font

   It would be really useful to have the same expanded font choice for a keyboard entering and handwritten text to typed text that you offer using the text tool in the box. I’m a creative person, and I like to choose my font to type in.

7. Audio recording — Periodic auto-save points

   While recording audio, GoodNotes should periodically autosave and start a new recording, e.g. once per hour. This would break the recording into hourlong chunks. This functionality is available in Notability, for example.

   Use case: if the user forgets to turn off recording, it’s easier to delete unnecessary recordings later by looking at the timestamp.

   GoodNotes users are looking to integrate AI features into the app, similar to other note-taking apps like Notion. AI-powered features such as transforming notes into practice tests, flashcards, table forms and summaries can help users study and revise more efficiently. 9. 1.Searchable text in imported images/screenshots (like apple photos).2.Pdfs as small images that maintain searchable text.3.Infinite Canvas.

   The ability to import a pdf as a smaller file/image similar to the way Notability lets you import scanned pdfs by giving you two options of either importing it as an image or importing it as a full-scale pdf would be an amazing feature. GoodNotes seems to make it imperative that something must be scanned instead of imported from another source in order to recognize text. This is the case at least when importing images or pdfs that were not OCR'd and have unrendered text in them.

   I feel like this proposal would be helpful, in that, it would allow you to compile multiple pages of a pdf file onto one page if you wanted and allow one to be able to save space in the document by not being forced to import pdfs of large documents as full-sized pages, and instead allow them to be placed onto a page as a smaller image in the note. For instance, when I import a set of PowerPoint or Google slides for class, it would be incredible to be able to import them without them having to be full sized pages, which leaves very little room for making side comments and annotations as I am forced to write directly on the slide itself. This makes it difficult when taking notes in class because it forces one to have to write smaller as to not cover up important content on the slide and this makes it harder to find what I wrote down later. This would save so much time and prevent any unnecessary pages from piling up especially when you have hundreds of slides to go over and would make it easier for me to review when it comes time for an exam. This would be amazing.

   An infinite canvas template page would be amazing as well. I like seeing everything I wrote in one area without having so many pages to go through. This wouldn't be a problem if I did not write so much when taking notes, however, I write a lot and I end up filling up several pages with my notes, and this makes it difficult when reviewing them. I know that OneNote has this feature, however, OneNote is incapable of searching handwritten text for Apple devices and from what I understand, Microsoft made the decision to exclude this feature from Apple users through their own volition.

   Also, my number one biggest request is to have the ability to have searchable text in images or the screeenshots copy and pasted when using the lasso tool in Goodnotes. I would love for any image that is copy and pasted from any app that is imported to have the ability to recognize the text or handwriting within the image that is imported. Say, I had a pdf containing a diagram in my notes and it had recognizable text, and say, I wanted a section of the diagram to be put next to a term I am writing down to visually familiarize myself with a new term for a class. Then, I use the lasso tool to take a screenshot of a portion of the pdf and place the screenshot next to the new term. However, when I paste the screenshot, I can no longer recognize or select the text, and it is unsearchable via the search engine. It would be very cool if it could be made so that the text of a screenshot, using the screenshot feature of the lasso tool could be recognized.

   These suggestions would be much appreciated if they were seen as noteworthy, and I hope that changes such as these are implemented in the app, for having these features would greatly change the note-taking game. I am thankful for all the good that GoodNotes has done, especially in the student community and am excited to see all the great features and ideas that are provided in the future.

10. Line Smoothing For Pen Tool

    Add an option for the pen tool that would smooth out handwriting (similar to a feature in procreate.) I can get really picky about my handwriting and will spend 5x as long writing a sentence trying to get the jitters and bumps out of the hand writing.

    We need more than 3 favourite pens, other apps easily have an average of around 5 custom pens. Such a crucial feature!!!! Needs implementation

    When I complete flashcards, it says there is a time I should come back to review it again. Would be nice to have a notification to remind me on the day.

14. Typing: type text smoothly like in One Note or Notion

    GoodNotes is a killer app for taking notes by hand but it’s really weak in the typing department.

    Things that would make GoodNotes perfect:
    - pre-set text formatting (title, headings, subheadings, normals text)
    - text alignment (right, left, center, etc.)
    - lists (bullet, number, checkbox)
    - toggles (like in Notion)

    GoodNotes is wonderful for annotating PDFs, pictures and books and for drawing diagrams. However, it’s impossible to write all my notes by hand so I have to use Notion for typing and just insert the pictures I annotated or diagrams I drew in GoodNotes into Notion. So I now use Notion as my note taking app and GoodNotes is basically useless. I can do everything I do in GoodNotes for free with Apple’s own apps. I can annotate books or documents in Apple Books or Documents, draw on screenshots directly after I’ve taken them or in Photos, and I can draw diagrams in Notes.

    The reason why I want to be able to type in GoodNotes is because I’d like to have an all-in-one note taking app. I’d pay for a new big upgrade with good text typing capabilities. I would stick to Notion but it also has its flaws (no back up to a drive, webpage-based app so needs WiFi at all times, things which probably won’t change) so I’m hoping GoodNotes will improve...

    A lot of people are starting to use keyboards with their iPads, including myself, Notion is becoming increasingly popular and Apple has been improving their apps too. GoodNotes is still the best app for people who write notes by hand but it could be the best note taking app for everyone...

    Anyways, I don’t know if the GoodNotes Team will ever see or implement this as there are so many suggestions but I’d like to thank the Team for all the hard work they’ve put in to create the GoodNotes we currently have :)

16. Recall/Study Mode (active recall via hiding words/filling in the blanks)

    It would be great if there was a mode wherein all the text that you highlight (using a specific tool designated for this mode), would be hidden (the text disappears but you see a blank line in its place). When you click on the blank line again, the word will reappear (then clicking another time will make the word disappear) -- basically it's becomes a mini flash card/ fill in the blank option!

    Also, this would only apply when you turn the mode on. Once its turned off the file is back to normal/original form and you won't see which words were "highlighted" during study mode.

    This could be extremely useful for active recall when studying, which I think many goodnotes users would appreciate! Also this isn't yet being done by many of goodnotes top competitors so it would really set them apart <3

17. endless paper to annotate lecture slides

    I love GN5, however, I can't use it as much as I would like to since for my classes I annotate the PDF lecture slides and need more space than the PDF slide themselves. Therefore, I have to use OneNote which allows me to insert a printout of the PDF and I can write on both the slides and have notes specific to the slide on the side. I would love to be able to have this in GN since GN5 has so many more features I prefer to OneNote.

18. Auto-Add Next Page

    When text is added on one page, Goodnotes could automatically add another page below the current one, so we don't need to pull to add page as we go. Although the pull feature works, it would be nicer if this was done automatically so the user can continually write without breaking up their flow to add a page. The last blank page could be excluded from page exports as well.

19. Read only / Edit mode keyboard shortcut

    A keyboard shortcut to toggle between read-only and edit modes. (⌘R perhaps?)

    For both the Mac and iPad versions

    I use a planner with hyperlinks and frequently have to toggle between the two modes, as the hyperlinks are easier to use in Read-only mode

20. Improvement on Mac typing

    By far the biggest let down of GoodNotes is the failure of the drawing coexisting with the typing. Currently, typing is shocking on mac and must be improved to a similar standard to a word processor. This would widen the target market dramatically and improve the service significantly.
