  1. The book I am studying has Roman numerals (I-II-III) at the beginning. Then, Arabic numerals would start (1-2-3). What’s frustrating is when I want to search for Arabic numeral page “14” in GoodNotes, it’ll take me to Arabic numeral page “2” instead.

    I attached a photo.

Adding the option to renumber pages to Roman numerals would help this make page searching that much easier. Adding the option to unnumbered pages would help too! Sometimes I add regular notebook page in-between the other pages in order to write my own detailed notes.

    I attached a mock-up of how the thumbnails tab…

  3. When I complete flashcards, it says there is a time I should come back to review it again. Would be nice to have a notification to remind me on the day.

  4. GoodNotes is a killer app for taking notes by hand but it’s really weak in the typing department.

Things that would make GoodNotes perfect:
    - pre-set text formatting (title, headings, subheadings, normals text)
    - text alignment (right, left, center, etc.)
    - lists (bullet, number, checkbox)
    - toggles (like in Notion)

GoodNotes is wonderful for annotating PDFs, pictures and books and for drawing diagrams. However, it’s impossible to write all my notes by hand so I have to use Notion for typing and just insert the pictures I annotated or diagrams I drew in GoodNotes into Notion. So I now use…

  6. It would be great if there was a mode wherein all the text that you highlight (using a specific tool designated for this mode), would be hidden (the text disappears but you see a blank line in its place). When you click on the blank line again, the word will reappear (then clicking another time will make the word disappear) -- basically it's becomes a mini flash card/ fill in the blank option!

Also, this would only apply when you turn the mode on. Once its turned off the file is back to normal/original form and you won't see which…

  7. I love GN5, however, I can't use it as much as I would like to since for my classes I annotate the PDF lecture slides and need more space than the PDF slide themselves. Therefore, I have to use OneNote which allows me to insert a printout of the PDF and I can write on both the slides and have notes specific to the slide on the side. I would love to be able to have this in GN since GN5 has so many more features I prefer to OneNote.

  8. When text is added on one page, Goodnotes could automatically add another page below the current one, so we don't need to pull to add page as we go. Although the pull feature works, it would be nicer if this was done automatically so the user can continually write without breaking up their flow to add a page. The last blank page could be excluded from page exports as well.

  9. A keyboard shortcut to toggle between read-only and edit modes. (⌘R perhaps?)

For both the Mac and iPad versions

I use a planner with hyperlinks and frequently have to toggle between the two modes, as the hyperlinks are easier to use in Read-only mode

  10. By far the biggest let down of GoodNotes is the failure of the drawing coexisting with the typing. Currently, typing is shocking on mac and must be improved to a similar standard to a word processor. This would widen the target market dramatically and improve the service significantly.

  11. It would be great if we could fill the shapes that we create with more unique fills. Not only will this make the process more creative but it would also make our visuals more understandable.

  14. On the Mac version of Goodnotes 5, it is a huge battery drainer and takes up a lot of CPU performance. My Mac is extremely loud from the fan usage when I am using the app. This makes it nearly impossible to use the app when I do not have a charger with me since it drains the battery within the hour.

  15. I had scanned a text with an scanner that dosen't has the function to adding an OCR-Layer to the PDF-file. (You have to know that the OCR-Layer is the function for GoodNotes/the iPad to read the words in that file). That's why I am not able to search the words from this scan at the searching-tool. I thought that it would be nice having the function to add this layer after you already scanned the document from an extern device. I use an extern scanner because the quality is much better than that from the iPad-camera.
    With that function it…

  16. Make dotted lines of the lasso/selection tool invisible to a remote monitor or recording. This would give presenters the ability to live animate notes with motion, for example, in a physics lecture, to drag an object across the screen, illustrating constant velocity or acceleration, without the students seeing the dotted selection lasso.

  17. Scientific articles come with references at the end. Looking simultaneously at the end of the document while reading the content would be helpful. Hence being able to split the screen horizontally (not just vertically) would be nice!

  19. Please please please make the grid likes actually automatically fit to the text, any text box just kind of floats on top of the lines and you have to resize the text and try to fit it to the lines and it never works. If text worked better I would use it more

  20. In GoodNotes 4, before the ios print dialogue, there was an option to "fit to page" when printing (And also one to remove backgrounds before printing). In GoodNotes 5, those options are gone, which means that my printer (who can't print the outer 3mm of a page, as do most printers) always cuts off just a little bit of the page. This is a huge problem with tight maths pages, where the last bits of formulas/text are cut-off, see PDF attached.
