[Sorting documents] Manual Sorting
Goodnotes 3 one could manually sort the notes, please add the function again as name and date is not enough, at university I sometimes upload allot of docs at a time and need to re order them!!

That way I could put the folders or files that I use the most on top and those that I use the less on the bottom. It would help to organise it our way so it is more practical.
Would be great!

When you create a folder and make multiple notebooks inside it, they can only be reorganized by certain categories. We should be able to move them freely and organize them how we want.

Please add the feature to sort your notes manually!
For example: my prof uploads page 1 and 2, so I import those files into GoodNotes. After a week he reuploads page 1 because of a mistake. I delete the earlier version of page 1 and import the new one into GoodNotes. Now I can't change the order, so page 2 is before page one. -

Yes, I was about to post the same thing! This is supper annoying (especially with folders) and the reason why I'm thinking of switching to Notability..

In OneNote, which I currently use alongside GoodNotes, there is the option to order notebooks and pages in whatever order I want. Meaning, I don't need to stick to alphabetical or date related organization; I can drag around my documents in whatever order I want and they stay put in that location until I move them around. There should be an option that allows free, subjective moving of such notebooks/folders with no "rule" dictating their location along with the current options for organizing based on name/date. I order my notes based on chapters by titling them Chapter 1, Chapters 3-4, Chapter 5, etc. However, my Chapters 3-4 show up after the Chapter 5 under the current alphabetical organization, slowing me down when I'm trying to quickly find certain documents.

I have the problem very often that I search for notes very long because I can not sort them manually.
So I would really love to hear that a manual sort option will be implemented . -

I solve This problem by numrering the notes as i ceratet them. This way the sort by Name is converted to sort by creation date.

Dear GoodNotes Team,
I am writing to you trying to support the development of your app. I’m a pretty big fan of GoodNotes 5 as I have been of GoodNotes 4. I’m using it for over 2 years now but sadly there are still things I considered a downgrade between the applications and some things not only I but as I was reading through the feature requests many people wishes that seemed to be ignored. I also read many same opinions that have repeatedly been suggested so I think it is very difficult for you to answer them all or to determine which suggestions are very popular.
First I would like to address the downgraded features I don’t understand and would like to know why the have been removed. For example the tools in the Zoom window. I can’t imagine anyone who uses the zoom feature to like that. It’s a real pain to always have to go to the bottom or the top of your iPad to select the eraser or your pencil again. Also the option to skip two or more lines automatically was very great and takes me a lot of time to hit the Return button every time now. If it’s possible it would also be great to be able to use the laso tool in the zoom window.
Everything else I’m very happy about and I Love GN5. Thanks a lot for this great Note taking app there are so many well thought things I really appreciate like the independent file system where I can add PDFs as sheets in between and rotate any page individually and I love the folders and the handwriting recognition, the cropping tool for fotos and the fast way to edit and add fotos, and also the incredible fastness and smoothness of your great app.
Although there is a feature I would really really appreciate because it’s very annoying to do. I’m in an engineering class and have to draw a lot of arrows graphs and tables. So my most important request would be a feature they have already implemented in the OneNote app which makes this a lot easier. I don’t know what to call it so I added a picture in the appendix. With this feature GN5 would be the dream Note taking app.
Even better would be to be able to edit the arrows to add a scale for example but that’s just some ideas which are probably very difficult to implement. And maybe also add a doted line. Every engineer will love that :)Furthermore there are lots of ideas that I read that would be amazing but I don’t know how difficult they are to app.
For example...
- The option to freely sort my Notes and folders the way I want. I have notes that have to stay together with different names and that’s not possible at the moment
- The option to password protect different notes or folders
- To add templates for folders to to make it look nicer
- To add a ruler and a triangle ruler for lines and angles
- The option to add the date or/and the time if needed would be very handy
- The possibility to move pages between notes by drag and drop. When I have to notes opened I would like to just drag and drop the pages from one to the other
- Bullet point and numbering would also be very good for people who use the text option a lot
- To add sticky notes on a page just to remind you of something
- To be able to create links between pages
- To audio record as many people ask for it. I don’t personally want it. But it seems to be very popular. Also I wouldn’t want it if it means the app would lose it smoothness and speed. Like notability for example that is really laggy and annoying to use.I apologize for my bad English and for this long writing but I hope you can consider some of the things mentioned.
I look forward to hearing from you and hope you keep improving your app.
Thank you for your kind attention and patience.
Best regards

Very much agreed. This is key. At least having reversed alphabetical order (Z to A) and order by date from the oldest to the newest.

the new added folders are nice, but the file management leaves a lot to be desired as mentioned in the key comment.

Please consider this. This way I can revise a notebook and conveniently put it at the last for revising again.
This will really help in simplifying my revision schedule!

I'm surprised this doesn't have more votes. It's such a necessity to be honest. I currently have to put numbers in front of my folder names to be able to organize it to my preference.

My first GoodNotes was GoodNotes 4. This version had a great sorting feature - where you could make it look like the index in a book. I REALLY miss this feature. It is so hard to sort the notes now...

GN5 only allows folders to be organised alphabetically or by date changed. Would be great to organise folders according to my wishes!

Please re-offer this functionality. It’s really an important time saver for visual and kinesthetic users. Also, being able to adjust icon size (small-medium-large) is really necessary to quickly find what I needs I grow my notebooks. I see that two posts have offered technical work around solutions for getting this to work with iCloud sync. I appreciate this great app as it’s revolutionized my work style. Thank you so much!

The user should be able to drag and order documents freely and such custom order can remain saved while switching to other types of order.

Please please please enable this feature. Also why only 3 docs per row? Used to be 4, if this could be a layout option that would be great. But more importantly let us order the notes manually, was so helpful.
I have been using goodnotes for years now, mainly for music charts, and I would always customize the order according to the set list of each live set. Now I have to try find each document on the go, which is very inconvenient for live performances.
I can't really see any improvements of goodnotes 4 over goodnotes 3, apart from stability of the app, there seams to be a few backward steps of functionality. And why did we have to pay $12 for this?! For something that should have just been a free update, and for a lesser product :(
