  1. I would like to request the addition of tip sharpness, pressure sensitivity, and tip flatness options to the highlighter tool.

With these features, the shape of the highlighter stroke could change depending on the tilt of the pen tip, and setting the tip flatness to 100% could produce a more angular, chisel-like highlighter shape rather than a rounded one.

These controls are essential for achieving more precise, realistic, and professional highlighting behavior, and they would significantly enhance the flexibility and usability of the highlighter tool.

  2. Subject: Feedback on Text Tool Usability with Magic Keyboard (iPad)

    Body:

    Dear GoodNotes Team,

I am writing to share some feedback and suggestions based on my experience using GoodNotes on an iPad with a Magic Keyboard.

    1. Difficulty Adding Text Over Images I frequently need to add text annotations on top of inserted images. However, even when I have disabled "Images" in the selection options, clicking or tapping on an image to add a text box often selects the image itself instead. This makes it difficult to type directly over images without unintended interruptions.

    2. Unintuitive Text Box Anchoring When I click…

  4. I'm using GoodNotes both on my MacBook and iPad during lecture notes. On my MacBook, I mostly use the "text document" feature to type down my notes.

Unfourtunately, there's no handwriting support (e.g. with the Apple Pencil) as in a normal note book. I'd like to request a feature where we can enable handwriting in a text document, so we can use both ways (typing + writing) do get things done in a text document.

  5. Hello GoodNotes team,

First of all, please excuse any language errors in this message.

We wanted to share some feedback about the Math Conversion feature in GoodNotes, which we find overall very impressive. The ability to convert handwritten text, graphs, and mathematical equations is extremely useful. It is even possible to directly copy the LaTeX output to paste it elsewhere, which is a great feature.

However, we have noticed one limitation: when converting mathematical equations, it is only possible to copy the LaTeX output line by line. This can be quite tedious when working with multi-line calculations.

    It would be…

  6. The recognition speed for drawing perfect lines, curves, and shapes is too slow. Would it be possible for the software to automatically identify the image and turn it into a perfect shape after I draw a relatively rough line? Otherwise, a lot of time will be wasted waiting for the drawing to become a perfect shape.

  7. I recently started using Goodnotes in my classroom as a replacement for worksheets under a document camera. While Goodnotes works very well overall, I noticed a critical limitation for classroom use:
When using a document camera, students can see my hand and the pen. This provides natural orientation: they immediately recognize when I start writing, where I am on the page, and when they should follow along.
In Goodnotes, this orientation is missing. Students often do not immediately realize that writing has started.
Students cannot clearly see where on the page I am currently writing or drawing. This is especially…

  8. With every update, I feel like I’m losing out on convenience.
Now the Lasso tool – one of my most-used tools – has been pushed even further down the context menu, in favour of other fancy tools that I never use.
The Lasso tool must be right at the top of the list!

As not all of us have the same needs: please let us customise the context menu so that everyone can adapt it to their personal requirements. Thank you very much!

  9. I used to make perfect stars with a ball pen whenever I drew a wobbly star and then locked my pen in place for it to snap into a perfect star shape. But with the new update you guys for no reason at all ruined this for me. Whenever I try to make the same star shape it clicks into a CIRCLE OR A SQUARE FOR NO APPARENT REASON AT ALL even though what I drew has NOTHING to do with an as simple shape as circle or a square. Please fix this I can not study as efficiently as…

  10. Align left and align right are options for default formating in the text tool. But select center and the default option grays out. This is infuriating and needs to be fixed.

  12. I would like to respectfully suggest that the cursor icon displayed while hovering be changed from the current dotted shape to a pencil icon.
I use Goodnotes while giving online lectures, and I find the current dotted cursor neither aesthetically pleasing nor easy to see. As a result, it can be difficult to clearly track the pen position while writing. I believe that changing the cursor to a pencil-shaped icon would greatly improve both visibility and the overall user experience.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

  13. As it stands the textbox feature is limited to changing font size, color, format, and style (lists). These are all the necessary functions of a textbox, but as some quality-of-life changes these are some problems I've run into.

    • Equation shortcuts like superscript, subscript, and basic greek lettering not available unless unicode is used to paste them into the textbox (time-consuming).

-No options for textbox border styles and colors to organize unless manually drawn around them.

-Autocorrection feature would be especially useful in textboxes that end up with a lot of text. Possible feature you could use the built in AI…

  14. I love using scribble to have my notes written in a different font but I wish we could have as much flexibility with the lasso tool as we do with normal hand writing. For example sometimes to I do my math homework on there and I want to move some of the variables down or move only one word from the sentence but when using the lasso tool with text box the whole text box moves even when I only circle one part.

  15. In Goodnotes 5, I could disable image and text selection in app settings, but this feature is gone in Goodnotes 6. Was this international? It’s very inconvenient because objects are clicked by mistake while writing. Please bring back those toggle settings.

  16. There used to be loads of hotkeys that would make things so much quicker.

    E.g.,
    - Cmd + +/- when highlighting text would make it larger/smaller
    - Cmd + \ would centre text ([ and ] to align left/right)

Both of these hotkeys have been removed. Now, when i highlight text and use Cmd + -, it just zooms out. This paired with the terrible toolbar redesign (including the floating toolbar), everything takes so many clicks. These hotkeys have basically become muscle memory and they're slowly getting rid of all of them, won't be surprised if they decide to get…

  17. I really miss the consistent style of the pen before the most recent update, the new pen is thicker and thinner in different places and its honestly unusable for me. I also miss the feature that you guys had a little while ago with the magnified writing box, it really helped with writing long sentences and streamlining note taking :)

  19. PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU ! As a medical student, I rely heavily on typed summaries. Please implement a native keyboard shortcut (like Cmd + Shift + E) or holding with your finger ( on iPad) to highlight selected text directly within a text box. This would eliminate the need for manual drawing

  20. Whenever you use the textbox tool and type notes, its very difficult to highlight the text. It never works like you would intend it to, and it takes multiple attempts to highlight a portion (either by double clicking or clicking and dragging) of the sentence or paragraph that you might want to bolden. Please make it so that its fluid and doesn't take a lot of attempts to highlight textbox notes.
