1. Lock the pencil toolbar in place

   I would like to have the option to have the pencil bar, that opens while I am using the pen tool, always in place. So that it stays when using the lasso for example.
   That way I would save a step because I rarely need the same pen/eraser I used before the lasso. Also it is really distracting when there regularly is the movement of it popping up and going away in my screen

2. More customer surveys and research before large changes to UI

   I have been reading a lot of feedback from the new 7.0.4 update and there is a clear consensus among all users I saw who gave feedback that this update has worsened the user experience. As a university student and researcher, I found this app to previously be the best in the market by FAR (especially as you used to offer the lifetime payment option, which I prefer over subscription based services). I think it's important to offer this option as I am under the impression that this has been removed. I also feel that there was not enough communication done with users before this update given the large general discontentment that everyone is experiencing with the app.

   I understand that it may be difficult sometimes to find customers who want to do surveys/go through the effort of giving feedback but there is still a population of us who are willing to do so. I engage in the handwriting recognition contributions, and am part of the testing group (as of recent when I found out it existed) and think that we are probably the most valuable resource you have when it comes to UI, given that the app is made for OUR use.

   I also agree with another comment where sometimes change for the sake of change is not actually beneficial. While I do dislike the new update, I really don't mind most changes, it's just a matter of getting used to it, but there are major issues (see previous feedback posted by myself) that is making my uni life unnecessarily tedious. It now takes me at best an extra half hour to finish lecture notes and such (I only handwrite as I learn best this way, as do many others) as the interface is so inept compared to the previous version, and having 4 courses and 3 hour lectures a week for each course (not including readings, research, assignments, summary notes, etc.) just makes this change far more damaging than it ought to be.

   Please recognise the value that we, as consumers, users, and supporters of this product, have not only in making you profits but also in helping you make the product better and more accessible for users, not less.

   I really hope you listen and fix the MANY issues in version 7.0.4 ASAP as I don't want to have to find another program for my education. I deeply want to continue using and supporting this business, but this has hurt my confidence and comfort in using the app.

3. Image and elements select without lasso tool

   With the new update, you can’t click on the image or elements tool to edit just those items. The buttons are just for adding new images into the page and that forces you to use the lasso tool to edit them. This is horrible for someone like me who uses a background image as a template and kept the image lasso off to not accidentally mess up my whole page. Please change it back! Or FINALLY give us a lock layer option so that we don’t have to select everything to get one image!!

4. Shape tool color/thickness should match pen color/thickness automatically

   My app just updated, making the toolbar different. Now if I want to use the shape tool to make straight lines or something, I have to manually change every setting from size to color to match my pen tool every single time I change colors/sizes. This makes it very frustrating when I do color coded notes every single day that need me to switch between colors, line thickness, and free drawing vs straight lines constantly (as is visible in my attached screenshots). It was never an issue before, so the fact that it is now is very upsetting. On top of that, I use custom colors that I now have to get put onto the shape tool so my colors match. Of all the things that had to change, this is a MAJOR inconvenience because I need to keep up with the professor but I also need to do my notes my way for them to be effective for me, and this just adds unnecessary time and effort that was not present before.

7. Reporting issues regarding the update of floating toolbar

   Dear GoodNotes Team,

   As someone who has been using GoodNotes for nearly three years, I was quite surprised by the recent update. Since writing is very important to me and GoodNotes has been one of the best tools I have ever had, I wanted to share some feedback right away:

   1.  Thank you for finally adding the floating toolbar option. However, the current design has some issues. For example, since the toolbar now sits lower on the page, it reduces the available workspace and sometimes overlaps with the text, which is not ideal.
   
   2.  The new toolbar design limits access to tools due to its narrower layout. Previously, I could access several colors at once with a single tap, but now I can only see six colors and have to switch between them, which takes extra time.
   
   3.  The option to customize the toolbar is missing. For example, I never use the pencil tool and would prefer to hide it, as was possible in the previous design.
   
   4.  Regarding the floating toolbar positioning: when moving it to the left, right, top, or bottom, it always centers itself in that area. This limits flexibility. For instance, when placed on the right, I have to move my hand quite far down just to change a color. It would be more useful if we could freely adjust the toolbar’s vertical or horizontal position within each side.
   
   5.  I would suggest adding an option to switch between the old and new toolbar styles. Some users may prefer the previous design, which allowed quicker access to multiple highlight colors without extra clicks.
   
   6.  One new feature you could consider is a Night Mode, both for writing and for reading. This would make note-taking and studying at night much more comfortable and enjoyable.

8. From home page, a button to return to existing open tabs

   Easy to go back to home page to find another file. But something I just want to go back to my existing open tabs. You have a home button, put a return to editing button. Right now the quickest way which is annoying is to open some random file I see on my home page to reaccess my tabs. And then I have to close that random open file.

9. Direct API Integration with Notion

   Direct API Integration with Notion! I use Notion for organizing my personal life, school, and work. But I love handwriting notes over typing so Goodnotes has all my planners/notes. Right now I am unable to embed Goodnotes in Notion, but this would be extremely helpful!!!! Please collab!

10. Set Different Default Fonts for Multilingual Typing

    Add the ability to set a different default font per language e.g., Hebrew uses one font by default, English another so the font switches automatically when changing keyboard language.

11. Added image text OCR functionality

    If you import a document converted into PDF into GoodNote or add an image file as a GoodNote file document as an image file, all pages will be in images. At this time, the text file was converted into an image, so even if you want to select the text, the text will not be selected. Also, since the text is not selected, even if you ask GoodNote AI, the OCR function in the AI function does not seem to work well yet. I hope the OCR function is added when I import the PDF files I have imaged into GoodNote.

    when you create a folder or study set you can only choose for a few ugly colours, introduce a colour wheel or some sort so we can make our folders any colour so they look aesthetically pleasing and match the vibe of my ipad please and thank you

14. Search for notes based on time criteria.

    When we take a lot of notes during a long period of time, It can be difficult to find them back. It could be useful to generate "timestamps" along a notebook, such as date creation of a page, or tag with the time of the first note of the day, or a stamp with de date/time you want to tag in a page. The time then could be a criterion for search or when you review all the pages.

15. Permanent Side Notes

    I would love it if we would be able to have notes on the side of our pages for easier annotating. Whenever I upload a PDF of some sort, I find it difficult to keep all my annotations spaced out on the page, especially with uploaded textbook pages where there is a lot of text and very small margins. Being able to add images and diagrams to the side for note taking would also be great, as sometimes I want to see it as a reference but don't actually want it on my page. The sticky note feature doesn't suit well as the sticky notes aren't large enough sometimes and still cover portions of the page when they're open. I would love it if these would also be permanent, so we can reference back to them when re-opening the annotated pages.

17. Group and Ungroup items

    Please give the option for users to group and ungroup items. "Send to back" and "Send to front" is not enough. For example, a user pastes an image with text. User highlights text on image. If the image is selected (even in error), the highlight is moved to back and no longer visible. I can select "Send to front" but it is no longer aligned with the text on the image.

19. MAKE THE RHOMBUS A SHAPE

    Make it possible for the app to recognise a rhombus shape and enhance shape recognition in general. Sometimes when I make small circles it detects them as ovals or worse as squares. For my use case this problem is a huuge limitation.

20. Ability to set default font per notebook

    My most used goodnotes notebooks are drastically different page sizes. I often have to switch the font continuously or duplicate an existing text box in the destination notebook in order to have the proper sized font.
