Lock for AI or Math Assist Function possibly even spell check
Those that use the standard versions of Goodnotes for growing minds/education need locks/parent control features. More recently Goodnotes added Ai and math assist which while I could see the benefits of these features, without having locks or parental controls added the student/child would always have the answer at their fingertips. Never having to learn to do math problems, Spelling, ect. on their own. With Locks/pin required for special features it would giver the owner the ability to use as needed.

Bring back recent fonts tab
Bring back recent fonts section for text. I have multiple fonts I switch between constantly and use to be able to do it easily before the new update, now only the last custom font I used and a few random fonts I never use show up and the rest I need to scroll to find every time. Please make an option to have a recent or favorites font section easily accessible. Also please put the set as default button in a quicker and easier to locate spot. The steps it takes to find it is ridiculous.

AI Audio Overview from notes or PDF like notebook LM
Notebook LM has a great feature where you can create an audio overview using AI that creates a podcast episode from the content. This is the only reason I use Notebook LM as well as goodnotes and I think this should be on Goodnotes' roadmap as party of becoming a leading AI notebook took.

Optical Character Recognition Feature
Why can't GoodNotes find certain words from inserted images when I use the search feature? The goodnotes team should really implement an optical character recognition feature, like the ones that one note and notability has. It is so disappointing that we are unable to search for words in a document with images, which would help a lot of students studying in med professions.

Highlighter Grouping
I often use different sets of highlighting colors depending on what I’m working on. It would be very helpful if Goodnotes allowed users to create and save groups (or palettes) of highlight colors. That way, I wouldn’t need to manually change the highlight colors each time I switch tasks or subjects.

Reinstall the “save the font type, size & colour” option again.
This feature was previously there but recently been taken away. It is very cumbersome to custom the type, size and colour of the font every time when i try to write. So this feature called “save as default” option should be there for typing font, size and colour.

Goodnotes ist seit dem letzten update nichtmehr für eine gute Arbeit zu gebrauchen es ist umständlicher…. einfach die Tastatur ausklappen am tablet und los schreiben geht nicht es ist eine Schande es so kaputt zu machen so hart muss ich es mal sagen ich arbeite jeden tag 8 stunden mit goodnotes und jetzt könnte ich es in die tonne schmeißen weil es nicht mehr akzeptabel ist. macht was….. egal was…..

Shape editing was better in Goodnotes 6
I regularly use the shape to draw curved lines and then edit their shape to create larger, more complex shapes. Currently, that‘s next to impossible:
- Editing points don‘t scale with zooming; especially when editing small lines, the points now cover up the lines entirely.
- These lines are often glitched out and turn invisible while editing, especially when multiple lines are connected together.
- After editing a line, Goodnotes automatically selects the lasso tool instead of the pen, making the drawing process very tedious.None of these issues occured with Goodnotes 6, I hope these issues are fixed with…

Enable Text Highlighting with Mouse on iPadOS
Dear Goodnotes Team,
I’d like to share some feedback regarding the use of a mouse in the iPadOS version of Goodnotes.
Currently, when using the app on a MacBook, it’s possible to highlight text with a mouse. However, on the iPad, this functionality is not available. If you’re using an iPad with a mouse and keyboard setup, you have to physically move the iPad closer, pick up the Apple Pencil, and only then can you highlight text.
This makes the experience less seamless, especially for users who prefer a desktop-like setup with their iPad.

Notebook Synchronization
Integrating a synchronization button within the three dots menu of a notebook would help synchronize it when working on it from a laptop or iPad, as there is a synchronization delay between the two devices. This would allow the user to avoid going back to the main menu to synchronize the notebook and then return to their work.

Infinite canvas is not searchable
The infinite canvas currently does not export as a searchable pdf file. When we export the file, it works like a picture which gets pixelated when we zoom

scan text from images and books for goodnotes AI
I import a lot of older books and text images from classes, but in order to use goodnotes AI, the words in the imported PDF need to be actual text.
MacOS does it well in preview, but I can't export it as embedded text from the image scan, so I'll have to resort to janky online tools that take forever to read the images then ultimately import it again to goodnotes.
I've seen some occassional messages from the AI sidebar asking if it can read it, but it never does and the message is sporatic anyway. How can goodnotes read…

i hate the new update, when im trying to draw shapes or straight lines it puts them on the opposite side of the page than what im trying to do, its so frustrating and makes me not want to use the app after using it with no issues for years

Randomly mess up hand writing
When i write in a note for too long, my writing suddenly becomes wonky and is not accurate to what ikm actually writing. like a glitch. I try restarting my device several times and going out of the app and everything but it still makes it suddenly wonky. PLEASE FIX THIS I BEG U! its frustrating and it makes me write slow to fix the sudden issue of lagging handwriting

Options Bar Update (October 2025)
Every time I select anything on screen with the lasso tool the options bar pops up BELOW my selection. Once I go to click out of my selection, the trash button is in the way and deletes my writing. Why on earth would the options bar pop up below when holding down on the selected area results in ANOTHER bar popping up on top of the selection. Super annoying and frustrating when the new position of the tool bar makes me delete everything I select with the lasso tool.

Bring back the ability to draw straight lines
After the latest update, drawing a straight line using the shapes tool is often impossible: If the line I'm trying to draw is close to another line it will snap to either a curved line or a straight line in a very different position from where I drew it. This is a major regression.

Disable long press menu as a palm rejection option
When I’m writing with my apple pencil I’m constantly accidentally activating the paste, zoom, comment, link long press menu with my fingers, I never use this menu, so I think it would be helpful to be able to disable it in the palm rejection settings menu.
