“Pencil Case” Tool
I would like to be able to create my own preset of pens/highlighters in different sizes and colors. On the tool bar there could be a pencil case tool that allows you to add different pen and highlighter presets so you easily have all your favorite pens and colors in one place. This would be very helpful when taking notes in class, saves time switching color to color.

Ai quizzes
With the new integration of Ai in Goodnotes, I would love to have the choice of Ai making a practice quiz based on my notes/slides presentation pdf you saves in goodnotes. I have two ideas:
- Ai makes practice questions based on your notebook and like the flashcards uses spaced repetition
- Ai can create a practice quiz, like multiple choice and matching

Laser pointer update
I am an engineering grad I do all my notes in Goodnotes the only feature that I need the most is the laser writing gets erased within a second , it would be great if I write as much as I want on the screen with laser and on one “clear all” option all laser writings gets cleared . I tend to do most of my rough calculations besides my notes and it becomes hard to erase my rough with main writing as lines get overlapped , it would be convenient for me to scribble over my notes with laser…

Usability Problems: Pen/Eraser Confusion and Shape Tool Misinterpretation
Hello Goodnotes Development Team,
This update has caused several inconveniences in use:The pen and eraser are now grouped under the same category, which makes it difficult to intuitively know whether I’m using the pen or the eraser. I often start writing only to realize nothing appears because it’s in eraser mode. This requires extra attention and disrupts the workflow. I hope the pen and eraser can be separated into different categories again.
It’s great that the shape tool now includes circles and squares, but the original straight line function has become much less usable. For example, when I try…

infinite canvas notebook/grouping
hoping for having a notebook of infinite canvases, so it’s easier to jump between canvases and that the organization is less disseminated compared to just folders, similar to onenote

Auto-hide new tool drop down
When choosing the tool , the new drop down bar stays there until you click it again to hide it. Can it be made to auto-hide after a couple seconds of not being interacted with?
i.e. click the pen tool and the drop down for pen, eraser, pencil, highlighter shows up and takes up more space.

Request for restoration of the recording function
While attending class, I usually record the lecture and then study again at home by listening to the recording. However, after updating to version 7.0, the following inconveniences have arisen.
First, the recording bar takes up too much space on the screen. Before the update, it was fixed on the top bar, so it didn’t interfere with the slides. But now that it has changed into a bar form, it can’t be minimized, and it just floats around the screen, which is very inconvenient.
Second, every time I press the play button, a pop-up window appears on the left side,…

filled shape without border workarounds no longer work
Up to now there were 2 workarounds to get shapes without borders:
(workaround 1): hit "Undo" as soon as you draw the border (this was the most convenient/faster);
(workaround 2): zoom in to erase the border.
With the new update both workarounds stopped working.3 votes -

option to choose whether shapes are filled or not
In previous versions of GoodNotes, when creating a shape (e.g. rectangle, circle, etc.), there was an option to choose whether the shape should be filled or not. This was extremely useful, because sometimes I needed just the outline of a shape, and other times I used the fill color without an outline.
With the new update, this option is gone. Shapes are always filled, and it’s no longer possible to have only an outline or only a filled shape without a border. This limits flexibility and makes it much harder to use shapes in different contexts.
It would be great…

Default Language for whiteboard
The new feature “White board” was launched, but the default language won’t applied.
My native language is Japanese, and I set it as a default language.
However, the default language for “White board” is not Japanese but English, and I need to change the language everytime. I hope this bag will be corrected.3 votes -

Dark Theme for Slide Show / Presentation Mode
I would love to see a dark theme option in Slide Show (Presentation Mode). Currently, presentations are displayed with a light background, which can be harsh on the eyes, especially in low-light environments such as lectures or bedside teaching.
Notability already offers a Dark Presentation Mode, and it’s extremely helpful for reducing eye strain and improving readability during night study sessions or when presenting in dim rooms.
Adding this feature in GoodNotes would:
Make presentations more comfortable on the eyes.
Improve usability for students, educators, and professionals who work at night.
Keep GoodNotes competitive with similar apps.

Suggested Feature: Integrated Calculator and Scratch Paper
Hello Goodnotes Team,
I’d love to suggest a feature that could make Goodnotes even more useful, especially for students and professionals:
- Integrated Calculator
A calculator that can be freely moved anywhere on the screen, so it’s always available right where you need it.
- It can be collapsed into a small icon and expanded again at any time, so it never gets in the way of note-taking.
- Beyond basic arithmetic, it would be very helpful if the calculator could handle functions such as x², √, fractions, and potentially even simple scientific functions (like sin, cos, log).
- This would make Goodnotes a…

Support for STEM Students (LaTex, Codeblocks, Circuit blocks)
I know a lot of engineering students that use this app, but have to use many other apps as well to take coding, circuit or higher level math classes. I use https://www.stempad.com/editor but would rather use GoodNotes6 because of all your other great features. The code and circuit block don't even need to be functional, just formatted like code and maybe helps you code like VS Code based on the language. It just takes a lot of time going back and forth between apps.

Whiteboard Connectors for Sticky Notes
Ability to connect sticky notes with connectors to enable true mindmapping experience.
Currently it's available only for shapes, which allows building quick diagrams and flowcharts. But it's not powerfull and flexible enough for true mindmapping, which requires sticky notes and content that they store.
Apps like Miro, Apple Freeform have this feature, for example.3 votes -
MORE options for study sets please
As a student I very much miss some options for the study set feature:
For example needed are features like…
- overviewing ALL of the study sets
- Moving cards from one study set to another/putting sets together
- Changing layouts for flashcards
- Import study sets in bulk from e.g. CSV files
- Plan when which study set should be learned
Use tags in study sets and filter for them
Choose which study sets are currently interesting and a „pause“ function

Free rotate pages
FREE ROTATE ON PAGES!!!!
Moving the physical iPad from side to side is NOT efficient. Being able to freely rotate a page to write at an angle would be SO much more helpful, when taking notes, doodling, or simply to look at the notes from a different angle.... I really would love to see this implimented as this is the biggest flaw goodnotes has as a program!
