Welcome to the Goodnotes idea-sharing space!
This space is dedicated to users on Android, Windows and Web. If you’re using Goodnotes on Apple, please visit this link.

Tips to make your suggestion visible and bring your idea to life:

  • Search existing threads. Your idea might already be under discussion. If so, feel free to add your input or vote on it. More votes = more visibility.
  • Create a new thread if it’s new. If your suggestion is unique, start a new thread. Write a short, clear headline that quickly conveys your main idea, and include context and details in the description.
  • Separate multiple ideas. If you have several suggestions, split them into individual topics so we can review (and others can vote on) each one more effectively.

  1. It now takes so much time for the app to start that I avoid using it. I tested it out and it took around 30 seconds to show my files or the last page opened. It does not seem a lot but during classes, presentations or explanations it can be very frustating

  2. It would be nice to access the same Notebooks with markups on my ipad as my windows computer
    - Same fonts (it is the same app, so fonts should transfer over the same between ipad and windows)
    - If I have a folder on my ipad with multiple documents, the folder should be able to show up on my windows with the same files inside
    - it would also be nice if the apple calendar could be imported into goodnotes (for planner and task use)
    - Outlook emails, to be able to add files and emails into goodnotes as a…

  3. Add the ability to permanently change textbox format settings
    Ex: select font size, color.
I am tired of having to open a new text and change it every time to a different font/color.

  4. It would be very helpful to rearrange the tabs of open notebooks via drag and drop.
Right now, I sometimes open several notes in the wrong order and have to close and reopen them to get them sorted properly. Flexible tab ordering would remove this extra step and make working much easier.

  5. In the past, GoodNotes had a setting that prevented me from interacting with objects such as stickers, notes, or photos without using the selection tool. It seems this setting was removed in the last major update.

  6. Form uni I know that chapters are possible for IOS. Sadly I had to realize that they don't exist for the windows app which makes the notebooks less organized and you can't jump directly to the page. Hyperlinks within the notebooks would also be a nice feature.

  7. Other Android apps allow use of the physical eraser button of the stylus, but this does not work so far with S-Pen on Galaxy Tab. Selection eraser from the software menu is not very convenient and subpar to other notes apps.

  8. Please give windows users on-device transcripts. It's incredibly unfair and outrageous that only apple users can have unlimited on-device transcriptions while windows users have to pay extra for cloud transcriptions. This is so deeply upsetting that I'm considering switching to a different service.

  9. Like the Apple version.... True calendar integration. It is now common on other applications. What goes on Google Calendar shows on Good notes and vice versa.

  10. When writing by hand in GoodNotes—especially while recording audio and taking notes at the same time—I frequently experience severe lag.

Because of this lag, when I try to write quickly and draw curved strokes, the app does not follow my pen movement in real time. Instead, the handwriting is rendered as a straight line connecting the starting point and the ending point of the stroke, as if the curve information is lost.

This behavior is very disruptive during fast note-taking, particularly in lectures or meetings where recording and handwriting must happen simultaneously. It breaks the natural flow of handwriting and…

  12. At the moment, the interface feels noticeably static because most UI elements lack animations. This includes interactions such as opening menus, triggering pop‑ups, switching tools, or navigating between sections. The absence of motion feedback makes the app feel less polished and less responsive especially compared to the iPad and macOS versions.

Introducing simple, consistent, and minimalistic animations across the UI would significantly improve the overall user experience. Even subtle transitions—such as smooth fades, slides, or scale effects—can make interactions feel more intuitive, modern, and cohesive. These animations don’t need to be complex; they just need to provide visual continuity and…

  15. Currently, PDF exports on Windows and Android are not vector-based. As shown in the attached image, small text becomes pixelated and difficult to read when zoomed in.

Since the iPad version already supports high-quality vector exports, could we please get this same functionality on Windows and Android? It would greatly improve the utility of the app.

  17. Dear GoodNotes Team,

as a user coming from iOS and switching to Android, I noticed many differences that make it significantly harder to maintain a consistent workflow. The most serious of these is the loading time when switching between pages or opening a large document imported from GoodNotes iOS.
Switching from the web to a native app version of GoodNotes would of course be ideal, but doesn't seem to fit your current business strategy. However, the most logical alternative would be to implement an offline mode in which users can easily download documents locally — allowing instant switching between page…

  18. A toggleable (on/off) grid would make writing on imported PDFs much easier.

The Zoom Window helps only in small areas, and handwriting often becomes uneven when looking at the whole page.
A page‑wide grid would keep both handwriting and shapes aligned.

Additionally, a dot‑grid would be especially helpful because it guides writing without being too visible.
