1. The new unified writing tool is very inconvenient

   Hi, I’d like to share some feedback about the new “Unified Drawing Tool.”

   I use GoodNotes professionally as a teacher — during presentations, I do live-style writing and drawing on the screen.
   In my workflow, I switch very frequently between the pointer, pen, highlighter, eraser, and lasso selection.

   After the recent update, all the writing tools are grouped under one button, making it much slower to switch tools and really interrupting my work.
   For me, it’s essential to have my writing tools on the same toolbar level as the pointer and lasso.

   Please make this customizable again, or at least bring back the previous toolbar option.
   The extra step to open the grouped menu may seem small, but it adds up and causes real disruption when teaching live.

   I read that customization might be added in a future update, but I really hope this can be prioritized — the current design is a serious downgrade for anyone using GoodNotes in professional or teaching contexts.

2. Bring back old text box mode (no double tapping for confirmation and unlimited boxes)

   The new update on the text box mode needs to be reverted. Firstly, you have to tap twice in order to confirm the box, which is already inconvenient enough, but on top of that the text box mode will switch to the lasso tool after one box??

   It is VERY inefficient to take notes on lecture manuscripts, now you have to double tap everytime to confirm it and then you need to reselect text box mode...

   Before that you could place unlimited boxes and you didn't need to double tap to confirm. Bring it back please!!!

3. Sim links in file explorer

   Have the ability to create simlinks to documents in other folders. Due to the number of folder I have, I occasionally want to have access to note in two separate folders. The only way to do this now is to make a copy which takes up double the space and doesn’t sync any hand written notes on the page.

4. Different Interface and tools

   The new update is terrible, the toolbar I don't mind very much (annoying but I can live) but the shape features are absolutely terrible. Before the new update I could make circles at an angle and trapezoids to my liking, and perfect right angles (stem major so every important) and now the only thing I can draw are ovals straight across, I cant even make a trapezoid, when I use the hold feature to draw a right angle it doesn't come out a perfect right angle it is always slightly off, and when I use the shape feature to make a right angle it always comes out as a curve instead as a corner and you cant change it!!!

   Ways to fix this:

   -for the circles let us draw a circle and then bring up one of the little rotation toggle to rotate shapes

   -make the hold to snap for angles a right angle not slightly off

   -make the shape tool snap to whatever shape you initially drew then bring up an option (when you tap on the shape) to turn it into a rectangle so that we are able to keep whatever shape we wanted initially

   -for the line feature of the shape tool make it so that if you tap on the line feature there is a drop down box and in the drop down box there is an option of "sharp angles" or "natural angles"

   Add Hungarian recognition. Lot of Hungarian students would appreciate at least Hungarian grammar even if the Hungarian handwriting recognition is not available

7. Text Doc Improvements

   Love the new text doc feature, but it needs improvements.

   1. Option to hyperlink to Text Docs. Right now it is greyed out when trying to link to them. Very inconvenient. It should have the option to link to the entire document and also Headings/ Subheadings within it.

   2. Option to use drawing tools within the text doc.

   3. More exporting features. Especially exporting as word document or actual text document. This is super important when trying to share editable writing with someone who doesn't use goodnotes.

   4. WORD COUNT. Please, as a writer having a word count is super important. I would also like to see this added to normal folder/whiteboards etc. Basically just a small indicator to show how many words are in the document or current selection/page. Additionally the option to add a word count goal would be nice, but just having it in the first place would be good for now.

   5. Collapsible Headers. So that the text belonging to a header can quickly be collapsed, indicated by an arrow.

   6. Organize outlines custom via drag and drop like it is in notebooks now (this would automatically adjust the header hierachy).

   7. Option to view/preview the document in pages in a selected size (eg. A4, A5, etc) to get a better idea of how it looks when exported as pdf, text, word, etc. Also choose in which size it gets exported.

   8. Ability to search text in the document and an "View only" option so I can't accidentally type anything while reading.

   Other than that I'd like to see some features of the Text Doc added to normal Notebooks Text too. This would mainly include: Checkboxes and Tables and also adding Videos.

   Love the new text doc feature, but it needs improvements.

8. (German) entweder alles zurück updaten oder die Toolbar überarbeiten

   Goodnotes ist seit dem letzten update nichtmehr für eine gute Arbeit zu gebrauchen es ist umständlicher…. einfach die Tastatur ausklappen am tablet und los schreiben geht nicht es ist eine Schande es so kaputt zu machen so hart muss ich es mal sagen ich arbeite jeden tag 8 stunden mit goodnotes und jetzt könnte ich es in die tonne schmeißen weil es nicht mehr akzeptabel ist. macht was….. egal was…..

   With the new update, it seems that the it is difficult to draw normal straight lines with the draw and hold. Now, it draws a bit of a straight line and then starts another line. Before, I could draw a line and adjust the end point. Now it seems that it just starts an alternate line. Additionally, if line is too short, it makes a twisted circle shape…

10. Fixing the pen and highlighter straight line/zoom window.

    I am a great fan of this app, however since the new update (version 7.0.4), I've noticed that the pen and highlighter snap to straight lines/shapes feature has been substantially less accurate/sensitive which makes drawing graphs and models incredibly difficult as it will merge many of my 'corners' into a single line. I draw tables with the highlighter tool but dislike how separate strokes will be darker where overlapped, so being able to draw a graph in a single stroke requires the sensitivity and accuracy from before the update. Currently, it doesn't matter how many 'corners' I draw with the highlighter as whenever it snaps into straight lines, it will miss out the majority of lines I actually drew and I hence cannot create my tables anymore.

    Even before the update it was tedious to make tables with one highlighter stroke, but possible. Now, my single sharp-cornered strokes typically snap into a single shape or a stroke that is missing the majority of 'corners' I need to make the tables.

    With the pen tool, if you have a solid straight line already drawn and want to connect a dashed or dotted line to the end of the first line, it will turn the entire shape/collection of lines into a dashed or dotted pen, which is also really irritating when I need different types of lines to differentiate my work. I suggest reverting the way the pen and highlighter tool functions back to before this update.

    I would also like the opportunity to edit the blue toolbar such that I can access the zoom window without having to enter a separate drop down menu (like before the update) as it would allow me to have quicker access between writing and the use of the lasso tool.

    I have included pictures to illustrate these issues from update 7.0.4. and would really appreciate if this could be implemented as it does deter me from using the app from frustration. It is starting to also impact my education in that I am unable to study at my most efficient capacity and unable to illustrate what I am studying and researching in a comfortable and efficient due to the new incapabilities.

11. text document

    I love the idea of the text document, it creates a notetaking ability that is similar to one note. However, I would love for there to be more customization (font, spacing, drawing, etc) within this feature. ALSO I would love to be able to create class notebooks in which they are text document format but there is a separate menu within the notebook for each page. This was I can separate my notebooks by unit!

    When using the text box to answer questions on homework, the pop up box covers up the question I’m trying to answer. So can we please make that movable or hideable?

13. Shape tool color/thickness should match pen color/thickness automatically

    My app just updated, making the toolbar different. Now if I want to use the shape tool to make straight lines or something, I have to manually change every setting from size to color to match my pen tool every single time I change colors/sizes. This makes it very frustrating when I do color coded notes every single day that need me to switch between colors, line thickness, and free drawing vs straight lines constantly (as is visible in my attached screenshots). It was never an issue before, so the fact that it is now is very upsetting. On top of that, I use custom colors that I now have to get put onto the shape tool so my colors match. Of all the things that had to change, this is a MAJOR inconvenience because I need to keep up with the professor but I also need to do my notes my way for them to be effective for me, and this just adds unnecessary time and effort that was not present before.

    It would be extremely helpful if GoodNotes supported video recording of the note-taking process, including screen capture and optional audio recording. This feature could allow users to:
    • Record lectures or self-explanations while writing
    • Rewatch how notes were created step by step
    • Create educational content or revision videos directly within the app

    Such a feature would be especially beneficial for students, teachers, and content creators who use GoodNotes as their primary digital notebook.

    I believe this addition would further strengthen GoodNotes as a leading tool for education and productivity. Thank you for considering this suggestion and for continuously improving the app.

    I regularly use the shape to draw curved lines and then edit their shape to create larger, more complex shapes. Currently, that‘s next to impossible:
    - Editing points don‘t scale with zooming; especially when editing small lines, the points now cover up the lines entirely.
    - These lines are often glitched out and turn invisible while editing, especially when multiple lines are connected together.
    - After editing a line, Goodnotes automatically selects the lasso tool instead of the pen, making the drawing process very tedious.

    None of these issues occured with Goodnotes 6, I hope these issues are fixed with the announced update.

16. pen & highlighter straight line changing point

    In the newer versions, the blue changing points for drawing straight lines are very big. If you zoom in, it becomes impossible to be exact.

18. Add a Pin Navigation Feature in Infinite Canvas Mode.

    I would like to suggest adding a “Pin” feature to Infinite Canvas mode. As notes expand across a large canvas, it becomes increasingly difficult to relocate specific sections without repeatedly zooming and dragging around. This is especially frustrating when trying to find important content written earlier.

    A Pin feature would allow users to mark specific locations on the canvas and quickly navigate back to them. Ideally, users could place pins anywhere, assign optional names (e.g., “Key Concept” or “Meeting Summary”), and access a panel listing all pins for one-click navigation.

    This addition would significantly improve navigation efficiency, reduce time spent searching for content, and enhance the overall usability of Infinite Canvas mode.

19. Enable Text Highlighting with Mouse on iPadOS

    Dear Goodnotes Team,

    I’d like to share some feedback regarding the use of a mouse in the iPadOS version of Goodnotes.

    Currently, when using the app on a MacBook, it’s possible to highlight text with a mouse. However, on the iPad, this functionality is not available. If you’re using an iPad with a mouse and keyboard setup, you have to physically move the iPad closer, pick up the Apple Pencil, and only then can you highlight text.

    This makes the experience less seamless, especially for users who prefer a desktop-like setup with their iPad.

    I’d like to suggest that you implement the ability to highlight text (use the marker tool) using the mouse on iPadOS. This would greatly improve usability and accessibility for many users who work with external peripherals.

    Make the import og PowerPoint files better, most of the time all the design is ruined and some of the text is covered so its impossible to use
