  1. I use zoom window for all my writing. It allows me to keep my hand in one place and see most of the screen while writing. Currently zoom window is very rigid: it has a fixed aspect ration, limited zoom factor, fixed position and size at bottom of screen. Adding some features would make it a much better tool.

    • Allow to choose both length and width of zoom window (flexible aspect ration) upto half half screen;
    • Allow to zoom starting from 1x magnification;
    • Make the border of zoom window 1 pixel wide to distract less from what is actually on…

  3. I use highlighter for marking my notes, if it's possible to search the highlighter, that'll be quite helpful for study. Thx!

  4. A stabilizer setting for pens in GoodNotes!

Currently, when you go look on the GoodNotes App, on the Apple App Store, the previews show that you're able to easily draw these examples and diagrams for notes.. but it's VERY difficult to do in reality.

If you talk to any Digital Artist, they'll tell you a stabilizer one of the most important features to have in any drawing program.

I'm not trying to draw anything fancy, really. It's just really hard to draw remotely anything without the lines being jagged.

More flexibility with the brush settings, in general, would help users…

  6. I would like to be able to manipulate a PDF in the same way you would a picture. I find that sometimes I want half of a page in my notes but don't want to insert a screen shot as it doesn't look nearly as nice.

  7. Drawing shapes such as boxes or ovals around handwritings for highlighting certain words or phrases causes inaccurate handwritings recognition in GN5. The reason seems to be that GN5 treats shapes drawn by the shape tools just like regular handwritings made by the pen tool, unlike Notability.

The only workaround seems to be only using the highlighter tool for emphasizing certain text since GN5 doesn't consider highlighters as text to be recognized, but the highlighter tool doesn't offer precise thickness control unlike the pen tool.

Notability seems to treat both the highlighter and the shapes differently to the handwriting made by…

  9. Most textbooks today are available electronically, but the MAJOR shortfall is the inability to easily annotate or take notes on them, specifically handwritten ones. Most readers are using not desktops/laptops, but tablets and phones with touch displays. Research shows better learning retention with handwritten over typed notes. If Goodnotes could truly allow this handwritten annotation function somehow, especially in Kindle app which we ALL have and use. Either a way to drag a Kindle book into the Goodnotes app, or an app extension for Kindle. Besides, what a better company to partner with like Amazon. Both companies would win as…

  11. Would really appreciate if the flashcard feature becomes much more versatile like anki.
    A few suggestions are
    1. Show number of Flashcard left for the day
    2. Integrate several files to form one Flashcard deck without hampering their current progress
    3. SETTING A NEW CARD LIMIT PER DAY
    4. Customising which cards I would like to see first.

Basically a lot of anki inspired stuff that could help us replace anki cards with handwritten goodnotes cards. Thanks a lot!

  12. The ability to save custom text box styles and easily access them (using the text style icon) so that they can be re-used rather than changing the default each time.

It would be great to use when trying to type out different styles of notes such as for headers or key notes. Take for example creating agenda week headers using pretty fonts and fun colours vs text boxes to note key points during a lecture that must be done quickly and can easily be read. In this example, it would be valuable to be able to quickly switch between different…

  13. When highlighting notes or docs, I have a system based on the color of highlight.
    Example:
    Yellow - todo later
    Orange - look into further
Green - Note about dev tools
Blue - Note about software process

Would love to see all highlights gathered onto one page for quick reference
Ability to select highlighted entry and link back to source.
    Filter highlighted entries by color.

  14. It would be really nice to be able to use/write/paste text that uses the Markdown format as it becomes the norm in most of the other apps. It would make it easier to import/copy text and have it rendered nicely.

  15. On goodnotes 4 tabs would close when you restart the app. But on goodnotes 5 the tabs remain open and it is very annoying to have to close the tabs one by one. Please add an option to close all currently open tabs.

Also I agree with another feature someone else mentioned to have pinnable tabs like google chrome.

  17. ability to add links in Notion to notebooks or even specific pages in Goodnotes 5, maybe even allowing backups over Notion so you can view them on PC and Android through Notion as opposed to e.g. Dropbox

  18. My favourite feature from GoodNotes 4 (and the reason why I use GoodNotes more than Notability) was the ability to create my own document outline by adding named bookmarks.

    Please bring back that feature!

  19. GoodNotes has become my default note taking app. However, there are times when I need to work with text but typing directly onto the page. Please include basic text formatting (i.e., bold, italics, underline, bullet list, etc.) in the future.

  20. Word Count is important for writers because it lets them keep track of how much they wrote. Thus they can set-up goals and easily measure how much (or little) they have achieved.
Software-wise, to me as someone with no experience in programming - the easiest way would be to take the code that converts the handwriting to text, and somehow instead of converting, it counts the words.
