4. [Zoom Window] Customize Toolbar

6. Scaling of line thickness

   I wish I had the ability to select a line and change just the thickness of the line (just like you can color). I often draw things and realize the object it too big or small. When I change the size of what I drew, it changes the thickness as well. I'll often misjudge how something looks and not realize the lines are all too narrow or too thick. This would allow me to select them and change them to a new thickness (much like you can color) without changing the size of the object.

   Several years ago, there were a ton of folks that were looking for this option.

   I wish I had the ability to select a line and change just the thickness of the line (just like you can color). I often draw things and realize the object it too big or small. 8. Dotted/Dashed lines/perfect circles/squares/triangles and more!

   This feature is the ultimate tool to make GoodNotes 5 'the' complete notes app.

   If these features were to be added, then it would be tremendously high ranking and even better than MS Notes and other famous apps. After 2 years on Campus my personal experience is that most students enjoy using GN5, rather MS apps. The most asked for question in my class is if they will add 'this' feature, because then it would make it complete and is quite decisively when it comes to math and physics.

   I am sure that this feature would excel as it is so highly requested among students, it would for sure raise the popularity of the app by many folds!

   Suggestions:

   • Dotted lines

   • Dashed lines

   • both vertical and horizontal

   Different usage areas such as:

   • Circles (full/half circles/quarter circles)
   • Rectangles
   • Triangles
   • Other rare shapes

   Other suggestions:

   • 90 degree smooth angle (dotted/dashed lines)
   • Auto Sine and Cos wave application (when draw and hold)
   • Pre-made shapes or the opportunity to store/save recent shapes for easy access
   • This would be beneficial for coordinate systems in 2 and 3 dimensional plane.
   • Also beneficial for storing mathematical/physics rules/laws for easy access
   • Time saving and efficient

   This feature is the ultimate tool to make GoodNotes 5 'the' complete notes app.

9. ARCHIVE notebooks and/or folders

   Hello! As I use GoodNotes more and more to take notes and adnotate documents, I get a large volume of folders and notebooks that are a bit difficult to navigate through.

   It would be great to be able to archive old items, so that they do not show up in the document browser and they are compressed or even stored in the cloud only, so that they do not take up additional space.

11. Pen Stabilizer

    A stabilizer setting for pens in GoodNotes!

    Currently, when you go look on the GoodNotes App, on the Apple App Store, the previews show that you're able to easily draw these examples and diagrams for notes.. but it's VERY difficult to do in reality.

    If you talk to any Digital Artist, they'll tell you a stabilizer one of the most important features to have in any drawing program.

    I'm not trying to draw anything fancy, really. It's just really hard to draw remotely anything without the lines being jagged.

    More flexibility with the brush settings, in general, would help users be more creative with their notes.

    (It'd also help users who have shaky hands!!)

12. More flexible zoom window and area

    I use zoom window for all my writing. It allows me to keep my hand in one place and see most of the screen while writing. Currently zoom window is very rigid: it has a fixed aspect ration, limited zoom factor, fixed position and size at bottom of screen. Adding some features would make it a much better tool.

    • Allow to choose both length and width of zoom window (flexible aspect ration) upto half half screen;
    • Allow to zoom starting from 1x magnification;
    • Make the border of zoom window 1 pixel wide to distract less from what is actually on the page around the zoom window;
    • Add lasso tool to zoom area;
    • Add pen thickness selection tool to zoom area and preset thickness options (similar to preset colors that currently include thickness values);
    • Left/Right/Down_left navigation buttons should include Up, skip lines option should allow positive and negative values, and skipping fractions of zoom window height (more like actual lines or cm/mm/inches);

    GootNotes is best I've found for writing notes with iPad, thank you so very much!

14. Add the ability to insert a PDF the same way you would a picture. (Resizing, cropping, moving around on page)

    I would like to be able to manipulate a PDF in the same way you would a picture. I find that sometimes I want half of a page in my notes but don't want to insert a screen shot as it doesn't look nearly as nice.

16. The worst update ever

    There are so many things that became inconvenient after this update. Here are just a few examples.

    1. The line spacing I saved as a default isn't applied when typing in a new text box.
    2. The toolbox sticks right next to the text box and blocks the background.
    3. Changing fonts or line spacing got much complicated.(especially line spacing, which now takes several steps.)
    4. After typing in a text box, it automatically deselects and switches to the lasso tool.

    These are only some of the issues. The previous UI was more efficient and comfortable to work with. Please fix the bugs and bring back the old UI.

17. Please bring back typing + handwriting in the same note

    I really miss the old version where I could type text and handwrite in the same note. Now I have to choose between typing or writing note, which honestly makes note taking so much harder.

    I know there’s the “text” option in the handwriting mode, but it’s just not the same… it doesn’t sync as neatly, and I waste so much time adjusting font size, boldness, spacing, etc. It totally breaks my focus and I end up missing a lot of info during class.

    Please, please bring back the ability to type and write in the same note again. It used to be so smooth and perfect

18. Treat shapes separately from regular handwritings made by the pen tool!

    Drawing shapes such as boxes or ovals around handwritings for highlighting certain words or phrases causes inaccurate handwritings recognition in GN5. The reason seems to be that GN5 treats shapes drawn by the shape tools just like regular handwritings made by the pen tool, unlike Notability.

    The only workaround seems to be only using the highlighter tool for emphasizing certain text since GN5 doesn't consider highlighters as text to be recognized, but the highlighter tool doesn't offer precise thickness control unlike the pen tool.

    Notability seems to treat both the highlighter and the shapes differently to the handwriting made by the pen tool and it DOES recognize handwritings correctly as text even if additional shapes are drawn around them.

    I hope GN5 adopt the same way regarding the mixture of handwriting by the pen tools and shapes by the shapes tool.

20. Integration into e-textbook apps like Kindle to allow notetaking

    Most textbooks today are available electronically, but the MAJOR shortfall is the inability to easily annotate or take notes on them, specifically handwritten ones. Most readers are using not desktops/laptops, but tablets and phones with touch displays. Research shows better learning retention with handwritten over typed notes. If Goodnotes could truly allow this handwritten annotation function somehow, especially in Kindle app which we ALL have and use. Either a way to drag a Kindle book into the Goodnotes app, or an app extension for Kindle. Besides, what a better company to partner with like Amazon. Both companies would win as this would add value to both products.
