[New tool] Post-it Tabs
One of the major issues in relation to using a digital file, compared to a traditional paper file is that in a paper file you can attach "post-its" to relevant pages which you can then refer to when you are using that file. This is an essential tool for lawyers, for example. So that, if you are referring to a bundle of files, you can have them in front of you where you can see the protruding tabs and refer to them immediately. The visualisation of the tabs – allows for easy access to the relevant page.
Whilst good notes allows you to tab pages – obviously – there are physical differences between hard paper and electronic paper.
However, would it be possible for good notes to try and emulate this by doing the following:
- You have the option of attaching a coloured side tab to the relevant pages;
- You then have the option of "see side tabs"
- When you press that option, the tabbed pages, with their tabs, all shrink slightly and move to the left – allowing you to see the tabs. Then, you can press the tab which opens the page – similar to how this would work in hardcopy.
I attach a photograph by way of example.
Perhaps, something like this could be considered.
Many thanks for taking the time to consider this idea.
Kind regards,
Asim

Totally agree, having visual side tabs like that would be super helpful. I use GoodNotes a lot and while bookmarks and outlines are nice, they don’t give that instant visual reference like real tabs do. If they added something like what you described, I’d definitely use it. Feels like it’d make working with big PDFs way smoother.

I think developing this alongside a comments column at the side of the document would be really useful too! Something similar to the comments column in Microsoft Word would make revising documents a lot easier.

Yes for me, it would be so important to have more Options for sorting and adding Information! I would love to just have Space next to the page for Post its, both post its for just sorting and finding important pages and for adding extra Information. The comment-function doesn‘t work for me the way it is now, as I want to use Handwriting in my extra-Information and I want to see it right next to the page. I mean theoretically, we have unlimited space in goodnotes, I just can‘t arrange it the way I want to because it‘s limited to the page. Why can‘t we write next to the page? It would be so much easier to just write down my thoughts concerning a certain subject.
Please add this! :)

It would be really helpful if you could add the "post-it tabs" feature, or if you could make the "text" feature collapse into an icon to reduce the space usage.
And to make the "multi-level lists" feature easier to use and to create more bulleted lists (for example: numbers, letters and other forms or shapes).
I do really love the GN6 app, I've been using it since high school many years ago (the app version was still GN5) and I would be very satisfied if you could add more useful features and functionalities. -

I am new to GoodNotes. It is a great app! I was surprised to see that it does not have a sticky notes functionality but only stickers and comments.
Sticky notes, as I would love them, are somewhat a combination of stickers and comments: I can place them freely on a page (like stickers and comments) but then an overlay opens (somewhat like it does with comments) where I can write my notes (handwritten or whatever I can do on "normal" pages). This overlay can be opened an closed as opposed to stickers, which hide the content behind them.
This would allow me to add my thoughts/additions etc. to an imported PDF or previously written notebook even when there is not enough free space on the page.

Many areas of improvement:
- be able to draw your own size sticky
- have the text/written stay on the sticky itself
- be able to move them from page to page
- choose your colors, like the pen or text option
- be able to hyperlink to another page through the sticky
- option to double tap to have the sticky disappear/become opaque to test your self with the content underneath (like notability) -

I'd love to have some Margin Notes type of function! Great suggestion

Maybe a feature to also link them to a highlight or something so not only would it be easier to take notes on a textbook pdf, but also can he hidden to help declutter the screen

Provide the option to select a term and write an explanation for it that can show up like a post-it and can be hidden afterwards, so as to not clutter our page or fill it up unnecessarily.
Good for studying and recaps, as we can quiz ourselves without the definitions or explanations popping out. -

I love that the suggested image has the sticky notes OUTSIDE the pdf file, some documents I use don’t have space for the stickers of post it’s that I use. Also often I pick up wrong things when using lazo to move si]ticky around since text is not constrained to the sticky.

yeah this is critical since i cant print a document in goodnotes without putting a big rectangle myself (works as margin).

Isn’t this something we’ve been asking for since ages? Is it that difficult to implement or it’s just you guys don’t listen?

I really agree on this sticky notes it would make notetaking on textbook pdfs much better -

I work with sticky notes via the stickers and then hand-write on them, but it is annoying to have to select the text and note together to move it (though it is doable). It would be good to have the option to group the text and note together, so that they always move together.

Add the possibility to add “post-it” like page marker to one or more page, and then the possibility to enable them side-viewing. It’ll be really more user-friendly than the current index function, where you need some clicks to display every time, and makes your experience stressfull and frustrating. Also the auto-level of these page marker would be top, so you can write on the them and have a clean,full-view of what the document contains. Photo attached for example

I love adding extra information that I can stick on and off with post-it notes on my physical notebooks. Although we have stickies, they take up a lot of space on the page and its hard to know what's underneath them.
We should also be able to add pictures or draw/write on the comments section.

There's a ton of third party image sets that do just this. You could also just find a PNG of a Post-it and make it a sticker. Also, if you format your text box to have a yellow background, it would simulate the same effect.

Yes!!! I wish there was a way to add that note section as shown in the screen shot, sometimes when importing slides it would be great to have the side to add additional comments/notes to not overcrowd the slide itself.

This would be amazing ! If we could have stickers where we can add comments on each page and decide whether we can print with it or without the stickers !

I want to be able to write on top of a sticky note and have it be able to be combined with the sticky note so that when I move it it is always connected.
