1. Table formatting issue when pasting from ChatGPT/Web

   Hello Goodnotes Team,

   I am a long-time user of Goodnotes, and I recently upgraded to Goodnotes 6. I am writing to request a crucial improvement regarding text formatting and tables.

   In Goodnotes 5, when I copied a table from ChatGPT or websites and pasted it into a text box, the table structure and grid format were preserved perfectly. However, in Goodnotes 6, this formatting is lost upon pasting; only the raw text appears or the table breaks entirely.

   Copying and pasting digital study materials (like ChatGPT tables) is essential for my workflow. It is very inconvenient to have to use workarounds like taking screenshots or passing through third-party apps just to keep the table format.

   Please improve Goodnotes 6 so that rich text and table structures from external sources are maintained when pasted, just like they used to be in Goodnotes 5.

2. Organization of a Notebook

   One of the key ways OneNote is useful is the organization of sub-tab structure so one class notebook can have multiple sections. I have to swipe right a million times to get to my notes for class number 9 in a syllabus.

3. Restore the undo button to top bar

   The undo button has been migrated to an inconvenient location. Please revert this change.

   I use split screen mode very often on my tablet, with Goodnotes on one side and lecture slides open on the other. The undo button was easily accessible before.

   Now I have to tap the 3-dot menu just to undo one change. The only other options are to use Goodnotes fullscreen (not ideal), or surgically erase things on diagrams I've drawn.

   This was so disruptive that I've already started moving to a different service. I'm aware there are smart gestures available, but I still heavily prefer the old system. Please revert it at once.

4. Give users "a button" that allows them to freely choose whether to enable or disable the liquid glass effect within the software!

   Please completely disable the Liquid Glass dynamic effect for older devices (such as my iPad Pro 2018, 12.9-inch with A12X processor), or provide users with a "button" that allows them to freely choose whether to enable or disable this feature within the app!!!
   
   (Before Apple required apps to support Liquid Glass effects as a condition for listing, GoodNotes ran extremely smooth and fluid! After recent updates, it has become laggy, frequently killed in the background, and suffers from delays.)
   
   Since the app introduced the Liquid Glass effect a few months ago:
   
   ❶ Typing is noticeably sluggish, with an average delay of two seconds before text suggestions appear;
   
   ❷ Apple Pencil 2 also experiences frequent lag;
   
   ❸ Most critically, due to these performance issues, the app is constantly terminated by the system—every time I switch away, GoodNotes restarts, severely impacting productivity. As a result, I'm seriously considering switching to a competing app (since Liquid Glass consumes too much system resources).
   
   I sincerely hope you can consider this request!请为“陈旧的设备”（如本人的ipadpro2018，12.9寸处理器：A12X）完全关闭液态玻璃动态效果，或者给用户“一个按钮”，让用户拥有自主选择打开或关闭该软件内的液态玻璃效果的权利！！！！！！

5. Handwriting, Swedish and Polish

   To add more handwriting languages!! I am a Swedish student that uses digital notetaking on a daily basis, and sure, English is close to our language, but å, ä and ö aren't in the English alphabet; it would greatly help to get Swedish in handwriting and into the app itself!
   And since I've seen that zero have been done to get this done, and a lot of people still want languages such as Polish, Swedish, etc., and no updates, GoodNotes focuses too much on the aesthetic of the app instead of the functionality that it's supposed to give to students! Please consider fixing this and adding Swedish and Polish!

7. Animations in documents

   Hello Goodnotes Team,

   I would like to submit a feature request regarding interactive PDF support in Goodnotes.

   We are developing interactive PDF documents generated programmatically with LaTeX. These documents are intended to provide a much more interactive learning and working experience inside Goodnotes.

   For this purpose, we would like Goodnotes to implement broader support for interactive PDF buttons and actions.

   In particular, it would be very useful if imported PDFs could contain functional interactive buttons, for example to:

   • show or hide solutions, hints, or additional content
   • reveal content after pressing a button
   • trigger different actions within the document
   • navigate between exercises, solutions, chapters, or specific locations
   • support interactive PDF form elements and buttons
   • enable more advanced PDF actions beyond standard hyperlinks

   Ideally, Goodnotes would support relevant PDF features such as Widget annotations, AcroForm elements, button actions, and other standardized interactive PDF functionality.

   This would make it possible to create highly interactive educational materials, worksheets, textbooks, planners, and other documents that users can import into Goodnotes while retaining their interactive functionality.

   Our PDFs are generated using LaTeX, so having documented and reliable support for these PDF features would also allow us to generate documents specifically optimized for Goodnotes.

   Would it be possible to forward this feature request to the Goodnotes product or engineering team?

   We would also be very interested in discussing the technical requirements or providing example PDF files and use cases if this would help with evaluating or developing the feature.

8. Speak feature having a pause, exit and backward/forward buttons

   Currently when you highlight text and select “Speak” option the text is red quite well but there is no way to pause, reverse, skip or cancel the feature.

   Please bring these features so I can use only this app to do all my studying, as currently I have to use browser to do the reading and GoodNotes for highlighting.

    Save photos to the Photos app – Photos taken directly through Goodnotes should optionally be saved to the device’s Photos app. This would make it much easier to share, organize, and compile them outside of Goodnotes.

    Hi Goodnotes team,

    I’d love to see native iOS Translate support added to Goodnotes.

    In many iOS apps, when you select a piece of text, the standard context menu includes a Translate option. Tapping it immediately opens Apple’s built-in translation interface and lets you translate the selected text into your preferred language.

    Currently, this option doesn’t seem to be available when selecting text in Goodnotes. It would be extremely useful, especially for people who use Goodnotes for studying, reading, or working with materials in foreign languages.

    It would be great if Goodnotes could support the native iOS Translate action directly from the text selection menu, so users could translate selected text without having to copy it and switch to another app.

12. Keyboard typing synchronization during audio recording playback

    English: Hello! I would love to suggest a feature improvement based on an issue I've run into. When I used my Apple Pencil to take notes while recording audio, I loved how the playback showed my handwriting stroke by stroke in sync with the audio. Since I switched to typing with my keyboard a few months ago, I noticed it only displays the entire paragraph at once once you finish typing. It would be amazing if the keyboard typing could also sync up and display word-by-word or letter-by-letter in real time during audio playback, just like the Apple Pencil.

    Would it be possible to allow students to use their own personal AI subscription in GoodNotes? While you have a decent and well-integrated system going right now, myself and many others would benefit from a quick and easy way of giving an external AI like Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini the context of the documents in GoodNotes. I'm not saying to ditch your own AI, I'm just asking to see if you can give Agents context through MCP or API or something.

14. [Selection] Select Element from anywhere on screen

    Please revert the elements selection back to its original form:
    - click on the elements tool and it remains selected just like the pen tool.
    - Tap anywhere on screen and the elements dropdown shows
    - tap on an element to paste it onto the page in the location that was originally tapped
    - if more elements are needed, continue to tap in screen where you would like the element then select the element from the dropdown.

17. Support Right-to-Left Page Turning / Right-Bound Notebooks for Japanese Vertical Writing

    I would like to request an option to reverse the page-turning direction of notebooks and PDF documents.

    Currently, Goodnotes is primarily designed around left-bound documents, where pages progress from left to right. However, traditional Japanese documents that use vertical writing are generally right-bound, with pages progressing from right to left.

    This is not limited to books, manga, or traditional publishing. It is also an important issue for professional users in the Japanese animation industry.

    Japanese Animation Production Scripts

    In Japanese anime production, scripts used for voice recording and audio production are traditionally formatted with vertical Japanese text and right-to-left page progression.

    These recording scripts are used extensively during professional anime production by voice actors, sound directors, directors, producers, and other production staff.

    Tablets such as the iPad are increasingly used in professional production environments, and applications like Goodnotes can be extremely useful for reading scripts, writing notes, marking dialogue, and making production annotations.

    However, because Goodnotes currently assumes left-to-right page progression, Japanese vertical scripts behave in the opposite direction from the way the physical script was designed to be read.

    For professionals who have spent many years working with traditional Japanese scripts, this makes page navigation unintuitive and significantly reduces the usability of Goodnotes for this purpose.

    Requested Feature

    It would be very helpful if Goodnotes could provide a document or notebook setting such as:

    Page Direction

    Left to Right (Left-bound)

    Right to Left (Right-bound)

    Ideally, this setting would affect:

    Page-turning gestures

    Horizontal scrolling

    Two-page / spread view

    Thumbnail ordering

    Page navigation

    PDF viewing

    For a right-bound document, the first page should appear on the right side of a two-page spread, and subsequent pages should progress toward the left, matching the behavior of a traditional Japanese book or script.

    Why This Matters

    Right-to-left page progression remains an important part of Japanese publishing and professional content creation.

    It is used not only for manga and books, but also for professional Japanese anime recording scripts and other vertically written production documents.

    Supporting right-bound documents would therefore not simply be a cosmetic localization feature. It would make Goodnotes substantially more practical for professional workflows in Japan's animation, publishing, manga, and entertainment industries.

    As someone working professionally in Japanese animation production, I would very much appreciate having this option in Goodnotes.

    I would like to request an option to reverse the page-turning direction of notebooks and PDF documents.

    Currently, Goodnotes is primarily designed around left-bound documents, where pages progress from left to right. However, traditional Japanese documents that use vertical writing are generally right-bound, with pages progressing from right to left.

    This is not limited to books, manga, or traditional publishing. It is also an important issue for professional users in the Japanese animation industry.

18. smart pen

    I really enjoy using GoodNotes and I’m very happy with the app.

    One feature I’d love to see is support for a smart pen made for GoodNotes, whether developed by your team or through a partnership.

    Sometimes it’s easier to quickly write ideas on paper. If those handwritten notes could be transferred directly into GoodNotes while preserving the natural feel of handwriting, it would create a great bridge between analog and digital note-taking.

    I would love to have the option to assign custom names to individual pages, instead of displaying only page numbers.

    Currently, pages can only be identified by their numbers, which makes it difficult to quickly find specific notes in larger notebooks. It would be much more convenient if users could give each page a custom title, such as “Meeting Notes”, “Chapter 3”, “Ideas”, or “To-Do”.

    This feature would make navigation much faster and improve organization, especially for notebooks with many pages. It could work similarly to naming tabs or sections, while still keeping page numbers available if desired.

    I believe this would be a valuable improvement for students, professionals, and anyone using Goodnotes for extensive note-taking.

20. Go back to how the app was two years ago PLEASE

    JUST GO BACK TO THE OLDER VERSION. IT WAS MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN WHATEVER THIS IS PLEASE I BEG OF YOU. DO YOUR SELF A FAVOUR I PROMISE WE WILL ALL APPRECIATE IT MORE AND KEEP PAYING FOR THIS APP, IF YOU JUST GO BACK TO THE VERSION WE HAD TWO TO THREE YEARS AGO AND REMOVE THE AI FEATURE IT MAKES THE APP CRASH AND ITS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. ABSOLUTELY ZERO PEOPLE USE IT AND I KNOW THAT BECAUSE I GO UNI WHERE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS USE THIS APP AND NO ONE LIKES IT. OLD IS GOLD!!!!!!
