   Requested Features (Suggested Priority)
   1) OCR for Imported PDFs
   Generate an OCR text layer for imported scanned PDFs, making them searchable within GoodNotes

   Optional settings:

   Accuracy-priority vs speed-priority modes

   Non-destructive OCR (preserve original images while adding a text layer)

   2) Document Conversion (Import / Export)
   Convert the following into PDF, then import directly into GoodNotes or auto-create a note:

   Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Images / TXT / HTML / ePub

   Optional export conversions:

   PDF → Word / Excel / PowerPoint

   Why This Matters (User Perspective)
   Study and exam PDFs often require repeated OCR, compression, splitting, and conversion.

   The current export → convert → re-import workflow introduces friction and increases the risk of file loss or version confusion.

   Even a minimal set of conversion and utility tools inside GoodNotes would significantly elevate it from a “note-taking app” to a complete PDF-based learning and workflow hub.

   There have already been community requests asking for integrated OCR and processing for imported PDFs, indicating strong and ongoing user demand.

   If possible, I kindly ask the team to consider implementing this either as a core GoodNotes feature or as an official add-on / extension.

   Hello,
   I am a user who relies on GoodNotes primarily for PDF-based learning and professional workflows.

   GoodNotes is extremely strong in handwriting and annotation. However, when it comes to preprocessing and converting PDFs for study or work, users must leave the app and rely on external PDF tools, which significantly breaks the workflow.

   Currently, GoodNotes supports searching handwritten notes, typed text, and some PDF text. However, imported scanned PDFs without an OCR text layer are not searchable, and GoodNotes does not currently provide a way to apply OCR to already imported PDFs.
   As a result, scanned handouts, printed materials, and lecture PDFs cannot fully benefit from GoodNotes’ powerful search capabilities.

   Because of this limitation, many users must rely on external PDF apps to:

   Create searchable (OCR) PDFs

   Convert documents between formats

   Compress and organize pages

   This workflow requires repeatedly exporting files, converting them elsewhere, and re-importing them into GoodNotes, which is time-consuming and error-prone.

   In contrast, other PDF tools (such as UPDF and Wondershare PDFelement) provide a centralized “Tools Hub” that includes OCR, PDF ↔ Word/Excel/PowerPoint conversion, compression, merge/split, watermarks, Bates numbering, headers/footers, and batch processing in one place. The difference in productivity is very noticeable.

   For these reasons, I believe GoodNotes would greatly benefit from offering a PDF Conversion & Document Utility feature (“Converter Hub”), either as a built-in capability or as an official extension/partner feature.

3. New update = hot garbage

   1. The tool bar being ON my document is blocking parts of my notebook, making my working area smaller.
   2. When in split screen mode half of the toolbar disappears(we used to be able to scroll over still) and will only reappear if i make the window bigger.
   3. Instead of functions being displayed on the toolbar i now have to press extra buttons to get to things like the bookmark, but why?
   4. Why is my pen automatically the lasso? In GoodNOTES you would think i would automatically need the pen no?
   5. Not everything needs to be a drop down menu! The double bar was goated! One tap to get to things NOT FIVE!
   6. The text box function is completely ruined. I have to tap it extra times to move it or expand it, but why?
   7. WHY ARE TEXTBOX CONTROLS ON MY SCREEN BLOCKING MY DOCUMENT?? JUST PUT IT BACK AT THE TOP OR ON THE SIDE OR SOMETHING BUT ON THE DOCUMENT I AM TRYING TO REFERENCE?? WHYYYYYYYYYYY?
   8. Press and hold to go into text mode? Why? There was a nice button that we could press that would instantly take us there. Now we press the text box button and then press and hold. Just for it to look odd.

4. Make us go back to pencil mode after using eraser

   Since the new goodnotes (7) update, I always go back to latest tool I was using before the eraser, especially to the lasso tool, I do not want it, I want to be able to go back to pencil mode after the eraser again.

5. Typing Feature in Toolbar

   Please bring back the typing tool in handwritten documents as a separate button in the toolbar.
   Also, please fix the overlapping of the typing “toolbar” with the title when typing.

6. Audio Transcription for more iPad models

   Please add support for more iPad models for audio transcription, as many students use Goodnotes for note-taking. This feature is very useful, but unfortunately, it only works on several iPad models. Not all students can afford to but a new iPad while the old ones still working!!

7. HIGHLIGHT SEARCH RESULTS

   I would like to be able to Search my document for a word.
   Then I would like to be able to click a button and have ALL these instances be HIGHLIGHTED with the HIGHLIGHT tool with one click.

   Is is possible?

9. Pen/Highlighter Thickness

   Please bring back drawing thickness so that it's not under a dropdown menu. Taking notes is way more streamlined with having the 3 thickness options readily available in the toolbar

10. Endless paper size with zoom in and write feature

    Hello good notes, your goodnote 5 app is very good app for students. We need a feature like endless paper. As you know study means interlinking of topics, for that purpose we need endless paper size. Could you please avail that in next update

11. Include comments in pdf exports

    I regularly use comments to annotate on slides where there is limited space. Would it be possible to include these comments when exporting to pdf format?
    This would for instance allow me to review my notes on my pc while making summaries on goodnotes.

12. flipping

    when resizing the image, lines, objects, etc, make it able to flip horizontally and vertically and have the option to fix its proportions while doing so and show degrees when simply just rotating.

14. Learn all Flashcards in a Folder

    Being able to select the option on a folder to ‘study all flashcards in folder’ so combine all the flashcards in all the notebooks in the folder.

    Also, make it less easy to tap out of learning flashcards and losing progress.

15. Progress bar for flashcards

    Like in Quizlet, could there be a progress bar for the flashcards? Like, the percentage of ones that are easy, good, hard, and not done yet?

    I feel like there is so so much potential to improve the flashcards feature!!!

16. add curly brackets to draw and hold

    how many tries you need to draw a good looking curly brackets? too many!!
    everyone struggle with curly brackets drawing while taking notes, having the draw and hold shape recognition would make them nicer and reduce time to write and rewrite them.

17. Flash cards

    When studying flash cards, it would be helpful if the flash card window only disappeared after tapping „done“. Currently, you have to be so careful not to touch the screen anywhere.

18. convert handwriting into text

    I would like to request a feature that converts handwriting into text. I know that the current lasso tool can do it, but what I asked for is a tool similar to lasso. Circle the text and it converts to text and replaces the original handwriting. This will be easier to convert current handwriting into text, also easier than the text tool.

20. Merging image and labels

    I use GoodNotes to label anatomy pictures. I paste the picture into GoodNotes app on my laptop and then label the image with my iPad + Apple Pencil. Multiple times, I've labeled an image fully (takes a lot of time) and on my laptop, when trying to sync, it slightly moves the image so all of my labels are now off and impossible to re-align because when you move an image, the labels go behind it (can't see anything). It would be nice if you could merge layers (image + labels) so nothing can detach them like moving the image.
