Laser pointer update
I am an engineering grad I do all my notes in Goodnotes the only feature that I need the most is the laser writing gets erased within a second , it would be great if I write as much as I want on the screen with laser and on one “clear all” option all laser writings gets cleared . I tend to do most of my rough calculations besides my notes and it becomes hard to erase my rough with main writing as lines get overlapped , it would be convenient for me to scribble over my notes with laser and then on one click the laser writings gets cleared

Add the ability of extending margins in pdf file/ presentation to add notes
Allow extending the margin (left and right of pdf file or presentation, to add notes. This would be very useful for students that follow the professor’s presentation during lectures. Some other apps do it like notes+. Their implementation is pretty good.

Toggle to automatically send highlighter layer back
I like having my highlighter behind my writing as it’s easier to read. It would be helpful to have a toggle option for the highlighter to automatically go behind text after it is drawn. It’s a bit of a hassle to keep selecting just the highlighter stroke and go through the settings to manually send it to the back.

Smart PDF Import: Add Margins with Grid Background for Writing
When importing PDFs:
✔ Allow users to choose “Add expandable writing margin”
➡️ Let us set how many cm to add on each side (top, bottom, left, right)
➡️ Let us select a background style (grid, lined, blank) for the expanded area
➡️ Optionally, allow us to choose whether the background layer appears above or below the imported PDF (this could be added later—no rush!)🔥 This would create a perfect page layout with the PDF on one side and structured space to take notes, do calculations, or annotate clearly.
No more floating sticky notes or struggling with extra pages—just clean, customizable, and efficient.

Recording
Would it be possible to move the recording thing back where it was with the other icons, it is hiding my courses and sometimes I touch it by mistake and stop recording my classes…

Zoom percentage
Add Zoom Percentage, please. The zoom affects the way we write and therefore if we'd like to keep our notes consistent in size and neatness. Adding a zoom percentage display would allow us to know what zoom size we prefer and always set our zoom percentages to that number.

IOS18 smart script
Please integrate the ios18 new notes app feature. The smart script will make me it faster and easier to write. It edits the users handwriting allowing to make it easier to read or add more and other things. Smart Script also maintains the look and feel of a user’s personal handwriting, automatically refining it in real time to be smoother, straighter, and more legible. Please I beg for this feature!!!

AirPlay Blurry Text and Images
This seems like a bug and it makes Goodnotes almost unusable for me. On my iPad I can see all the text and images fine, but on AirPlay, my students see a very pixelated version of all text and images.
This happens both on whiteboards and pages, which leads me to think that it has something to do with a parameter that you might have set for the render resolution. The render resolution is too low for the current zoom level.
This bug is making it really difficult to teach, could we potentially downgrade to an older version?

Add Inline Drawing Support to Text Doc for Seamless Visual Note-Taking
ext Doc is great for writing thanks to its clean block structure and keyboard-friendly design. However, one thing that would make it even more powerful is the ability to add inline drawing areas—similar to how Apple Notes lets you sketch directly within your notes and resize the drawing space as needed.
When I'm taking notes during meetings or documenting ideas, I often need to quickly sketch diagrams or jot down visual thoughts alongside the text. Right now, I have to choose between using a traditional notebook that supports drawing but isn’t ideal for typing, or using Text Doc and keeping a separate app open for sketches—which breaks the flow and feels clunky.

Tape Feature Expansion
I suggest an addition to the tape feature that would allow the user to cover/uncover all of the tape on the current page. This would be extremely useful in slides such as anatomical diagrams, which have many possible areas to cover and study. This feature would immediately remove the repetitiveness of having to go back through and individually re-cover names.

Laser
Since the recent update, the laser got to make layers by each stroke. But it’s very inconvenient when I am writing letters, as the previous stroke shows up darker and the handwriting gets so messy.. please change it back so it can be used with one layer.

Partial Synchronizing
I've been using more and more files on Goodnote and I realized it would be great if we can select which files/folder to sync to other devices while keeping the rest locally. For 1, this saved much space in icloud, especially for those who has many files in Goodnote. For 2, people can have more freedom in synchronizing while having access to necessarily files in Goodnote on other devices.

Flip/Mirror
It will be a big help for us, engineers, to flip/mirror a certain drawn object selected using lasso tool. Its a good feature for us since we always draw symmetrical figures.

Reporting issues regarding the update of floating toolbar
Dear GoodNotes Team,
As someone who has been using GoodNotes for nearly three years, I was quite surprised by the recent update. Since writing is very important to me and GoodNotes has been one of the best tools I have ever had, I wanted to share some feedback right away:
1. Thank you for finally adding the floating toolbar option. However, the current design has some issues. For example, since the toolbar now sits lower on the page, it reduces the available workspace and sometimes overlaps with the text, which is not ideal. 2. The new toolbar design limits access to tools due to its narrower layout. Previously, I could access several colors at once with a single tap, but now I can only see six colors and have to switch between them, which takes extra time. 3. The option to customize the toolbar is missing. For example, I never use the pencil tool and would prefer to hide it, as was possible in the previous design. 4. Regarding the floating toolbar positioning: when moving it to the left, right, top, or bottom, it always centers itself in that area. This limits flexibility. For instance, when placed on the right, I have to move my hand quite far down just to change a color. It would be more useful if we could freely adjust the toolbar’s vertical or horizontal position within each side. 5. I would suggest adding an option to switch between the old and new toolbar styles. Some users may prefer the previous design, which allowed quicker access to multiple highlight colors without extra clicks. 6. One new feature you could consider is a Night Mode, both for writing and for reading. This would make note-taking and studying at night much more comfortable and enjoyable.Thank you very much for your hard work and for continuously improving GoodNotes. I hope my feedback can help refine the experience further.
Best regards

audio recording accessory
Hi! After the latest GoodNotes 6 update, a small recording bar shows up on the top right when recording audio.
It’s fixed there, and since I’m right-handed, I keep accidentally touching it while writing — which stops the recording 😭
It would be great if we could move it or just have a small recording indicator in the main toolbar instead. That would make note-taking while recording so much easier! Thanks a lot for listening 💙

Enable Text Highlighting with Mouse on iPadOS
Dear Goodnotes Team,
I’d like to share some feedback regarding the use of a mouse in the iPadOS version of Goodnotes.
Currently, when using the app on a MacBook, it’s possible to highlight text with a mouse. However, on the iPad, this functionality is not available. If you’re using an iPad with a mouse and keyboard setup, you have to physically move the iPad closer, pick up the Apple Pencil, and only then can you highlight text.
This makes the experience less seamless, especially for users who prefer a desktop-like setup with their iPad.
I’d like to suggest that you implement the ability to highlight text (use the marker tool) using the mouse on iPadOS. This would greatly improve usability and accessibility for many users who work with external peripherals.
Thank you for your attention and for continuing to improve such a great app.
Best regards,

less submenus
Many functions you have placed in submenus could easily fit into their respective window headers, toolbars etc. - thereby becoming more obvious and faster/easier to access.
examples:1) The filter for bookmarked pages in the page browser is now the single item in a submenu. Unnecessary - there is easily enough room for 4 tabs - even when viewed as sidebar and in portrait orientation. img_0387
2) Select pages and sidebar/popup toggle hide behind a 3 dots menu in the page browser. Why? There is enough room there to show these directly. Esp. if you implement the toggle as one button that changes it‘s icon accordingly. img_0385
3) The auto advance setting for the writing zoom window ist hidden 2 levels deep in the document settings. This setting is very situational (columns, tables, equations vs plain text) and has to be easily accessible - either directly in the zoom window toolbar or at the very least in the 3dots submenu that‘s already there and has only 2 entries! img_0386
4) In the document browser the „select items“ button is again hidden in a submenu, and even worse in one that is meant for viewing and sorting options. This needs to become top lvl accessible.
Also atm this menu bar scrolls out of view. It should stay on top/visible when scrolling down. It is absolutely aggravating to have to scroll all the way up to the top and then down again just to select documents that are further down. img_03885) Also in the document bowser: the filtering to show „documents only“, „folders only“ , and „all“ is clearly a viewing option. I think we don’t need a second submenu for this in the same menu bar. Why not place this as an additional options group in the other viewing submenu (with the grid icon) and place this icon on the left instead. ( Where the viewing/filtering options for pages in the page browser of the document editor are situated as well) img_0388
I love that you steadily move to icon based menus. For me as a daily user this is faster, easier to grasp at a glance and screen space saving. Thank you for reworking this whole ui und steadily improving still.
