Feature Request: Sync Pen Colors, Add Matching Paper Sizes, and Expand Sticker Library
1- Sync Pen Colors Across Devices
It would be great if custom pen colors automatically synced between all devices linked to the same account (iPad, Windows, Android, etc.). This way, users can keep a consistent color palette without having to recreate it manually.2- Add Paper That Matches the Document Size
Please add an option to insert new pages that automatically match the size and layout of the current document. This would make it easier to keep documents consistent without adjusting the paper size each time.3- Add More Built-in Stickers
Expanding the sticker library with more categories (study, productivity, pastel, planner, etc.) would be a nice addition, especially for Windows users who don’t have as many sticker options as iPad users. These features would make the Windows version much more seamless and enjoyable to use.

selecting text using a cursor on ipad
When selecting text on an iPad on a pdf, I have to hold down on a word and manually drag the selection as if I am using my finger. The drag function with a cursor on iPad is currently used to scroll through, but this is much less useful than using two fingers on a trackpad or a scroll wheel. Could the ‘drag cursor’ function please be reprogrammed to select text instead (like in every other application) please??

Stickers - bring back the old menu
Please bring back the old method of being able to tap anywhere on screen to show the sticker menu and have the sticker placed exactly where you tapped on screen. The new method of tapping the sticker icon in the toolbar, selecting a sticker, the. Having to find the sticker randomly placed on the page, then move it where it’s required is such a backwards step and waste of time!

Bidirectional links and Knowledge Graph View
Please add bidirectional links. I use Obsidian as a Personal knowledge management (PKM) vault and love its bidirectional links and Knowledge Graph view. Being able to see how notes reference each other makes large collections of notes manageable while also allowing me to make connections otherwise impossible to see. Please add so GoodNote can be my one stop shop for note taking.

Toolbar disappear
I like the new update, especially where you can make the toolbar disappear, but still write. I want it to stay gone when I double-tap my Apple Pencil to erase. It increases space on the page with it gone, but I would love to be able to switch to my erase (by double-tapping), and not have it pop back up.

Joining pages together for cross stitch
I use Goodnotes for cross stitch. Many of my patterns are PDF files with multiple pages. It would be nice to be able to join the individual pattern pages together to create one seamless picture.

Suggested Feature: Integrated Calculator and Scratch Paper
Hello Goodnotes Team,
I’d love to suggest a feature that could make Goodnotes even more useful, especially for students and professionals:
- Integrated Calculator
-
A calculator that can be freely moved anywhere on the screen, so it’s always available right where you need it.
- It can be collapsed into a small icon and expanded again at any time, so it never gets in the way of note-taking.
- Beyond basic arithmetic, it would be very helpful if the calculator could handle functions such as x², √, fractions, and potentially even simple scientific functions (like sin, cos, log).
- This would make Goodnotes a strong companion for university classes, exams, and professional work where quick calculations are needed without switching apps.
- Scratch Paper
A movable, flexible scratch area for quick notes or side calculations.
Ideal for jotting down temporary ideas, brainstorming, or making to-do lists without cluttering the main document.
Notes could be written with both pen and keyboard.
Items could be crossed out as tasks are completed—helpful during exams, problem-solving, or project work.
- Lockable Text Boxes
A lock feature that fixes a text box in place.
The text can still be edited, but the box itself can no longer be accidentally moved.
I also created a sketch of the idea to better illustrate how this could look in practice.
Thank you for considering this suggestion—I believe these tools would make Goodnotes even more versatile and efficient for everyday use.

Full Page Typing mode
In one of the last Updates the full page typing mode was removed and now you have to hold down the add textbox button and do 3 more extra steps. Please bring back the old option where you could just click in the nav-bar the option for keyboards and start working. Again this is now just extra complicated and all in all a downgrade. Writing this on Oktober 10th with the newest goodnotes and ios updates btw

Same range of colours to be used for drawing shapes as drawing with the pen/pencil like it used to be
The same way it was before the most recent update, as it’s easier when needing to draw straight line shapes with the same colours used for writing/drawing as it’s far more convenient than copying and pasting the colour code

Drop down arrow for the rest of our Pen colors
have our 4 favorite pen colors then next to it have a drop-down arrow (just like the arrow for hidden tools) with the rest of our color palettes. That way we won’t have to constantly scroll back and forth to change our stroke settings and so we won’t have limited colors options / only 12 of our favorite pen colors

UI Issues, Dark Mode Bugs, and Feature Requests
After GoodNotes switched to Version 7, I immediately started looking for a new note-taking app; otherwise, I was frustrated enough to break my iPad. During this time, I used other applications and discovered many features that I wish GoodNotes had.
I downloaded the latest version on December 14, and while almost all bugs were fixed, there are still critical issues preventing me from using GoodNotes as my daily driver.
Here is a detailed summary of the issues and suggestions:
1. Background Contrast:
When the iPad is in Dark Mode, the workspace background behind the paper is too dark. I wish there were a dark gray (anthracite) color or customizable theme options for this specific area.
2. Sticker Visibility (Critical):
This is a major deal-breaker. I create stickers by drawing shapes with a black pen. In Dark Mode, these are completely invisible. I have to turn off Dark Mode to see them, but then the background becomes white and blends with my paper template, causing visual confusion.
3. Text Tool Issues:
• Presets: Having only one default text style is limiting. I need multiple text style presets that I can quickly switch between for different templates. (See attached screenshot).
• Text Box Size: The text boxes are excessively large. Even when using the default font, there is unnecessary padding between the text and the box borders. This causes significant clutter when there are multiple text elements on the page.
• Selection Conflict: Because of the large text boxes, when I try to select an image located behind or near a text, I accidentally select the text box instead. I then have to go into the Lasso Tool settings to disable text selection, which is a very tedious and inefficient workflow.
4. Document Dark Mode:
A feature to invert/convert the document itself to Dark Mode is needed. I have attached before-and-after screenshots from another app as an example.
5. Image Borders:
I often take photos of whiteboards in class to add to my notes. However, since the whiteboard and my digital paper are similar in color, the image blends in and is hard to distinguish. It would be incredibly useful to have a feature that adds borders or frames to images automatically.
6. Page Expansion / Margins:
When importing lecture slides (PDFs), professors often leave no empty space for notes. I need the ability to expand the page boundaries or add extra margins around the imported document so I can write notes on the sides. This functionality exists in almost all other note-taking applications.
Given the premium price of GoodNotes, I expect more comprehensive features, such as a built-in scientific calculator, a custom template creation tool (down to adjustable line spacing/thickness), a more compact audio recording interface, and a built-in video player.

Floating views
When working on math it is very common to have a formula that you need to reference often. At the moment we always just have to either zoom out, or keep scrolling back to the section we wrote it in.
It would be great if we could do some kind of rectangular selection and have just that section of the page become a floating popup window (perhaps as a small square on the opposite side of our writing hand?) showing the contents that we selected, so that we dont have to keep awkwardly navigating through all the pages.
And maybe this extra feature is asking too much, but it would be amazing if for each notebook we could then have some kind of "index" of all the selections we made so that we could frequently switch what we show in our popup window.

Customizable Apple Pencil quick bar
I want to customize the order of Apple Pencil quick bar. Currently, Customizing tool bar(not Apple pencil quick bar) is available, but not Apple pencil quick bar.
I use Lasso tool a lot, but at quick bar, it's way to far to approach on it.1 vote -
Lack of snapping and reference points when using shapes
Hi everyone,
I’d like to report a limitation I’ve noticed when working with shapes in Goodnotes and ask if others feel the same. When drawing or editing shapes such as circles, squares, and lines, there is currently no snapping or anchoring system. This makes it difficult to align shapes precisely or connect them to each other.
In particular:
There are no visible reference points (such as center points, midpoints, or edge anchors).
It’s hard to find the exact center of a circle or square.
Aligning shapes or connecting lines to other shapes requires a lot of manual adjustment and is often imprecise.
This can be limiting when creating diagrams, technical drawings, graphs, or structured notes, where precision is important.
I think adding automatic snapping and anchor points (centers, edges, midpoints, intersections) would significantly improve the shape tool and make Goodnotes much more powerful for these use cases.
Does anyone else experience this issue or would find such a feature useful?

[Toolbars] Integrating the ‘Eraser Function’ into ‘Writing Tools’
Currently, the Eraser Function and Writing Tools are two different tabs. This disrupts the continuous flow of writing, as users have to frequently toggle between two different tabs. This issue is especially vital as the tabs are at a higher eye level, thus users have to take some moments to locate, and select the eraser function when needed, which also causes users to mistakenly tap onto another mini tab.
This brings about inconvenience to users, especially since the flow of thoughts is disrupted.
Thus, I would propose shifting the position of the eraser function into the writing tools tab. This would greatly enhance users’ experience with GoodNotes. Would really appreciate if this feedback is taken, thank you so much!
