Section Breaks in Thumbnail View
There are only two things I’d change about Goodnotes 5, and this is the more prominent of them. I would like to have the ability to add sections to the thumbnail view, just to make it easier to find chapters/sections/topics in my classes. A simple line between the first and the next section with an area to write the name of the section would be more than enough. I have used outlines some but they don’t provide enough oversight in my opinion. I really hope something like this comes to fruition. Just as a side note I’d also like…

Add Quotes for Styling and Formatting
An indent you can do when pressing Tab where it adds a vertical line before entering/nesting a text.

Chapter Scroll
Since we have vertical scroll, i would like to see an option for chapter scrolling.
For Example: If vertical scroll is enabled (for pages), you can use horizontal scroll for scrolling through chapters. If pages scroll horizontal, chapters could scroll vertical.Together with page links - i think - this could be a great boost for structuring notebooks and usability.
This may include the creations of chapters or - if not possible - using outlines (as "start" of chapters)

Annotated Pages Menu
GoodNotes should implement a feature to filter out only pages with annotation, side by side with the outlines menu.
This would be much more convenient when reviewing large documents and e-textbooks.2 votes -
Level up
I'm a surgical resident, and I've used almost every form of note taking, app and study method available in my 30+ years of being a professional student.
I've used Notability for a long time, but switched to Goodnotes because of the feature set, community, and one-time fee model. There are a few key missing features that make me switch back and forth between the apps.
Disclaimer: I realize the amount of effort it takes to execute new features and believe people should be compensated for their work. I would not be opposed to in-app purchases for the additional features proposed…

PDF pages
Sometimes when I read and take notes on lecture PowerPoint pdf on GoodNotes, I feel like the pages display are too big (I used an iPad Pro) esp when the content on the slides is not very compact. So I wonder if it’s possible to set how the pdf to be displayed, like for horizontal it can be set to 2x2, 3x2. Or for vertical, it can be set to 2x4, 2x6, or even 3x4 etc instead? To be able to view more pages at a glimpse like the outlines and also able to actually read the content would…

Thumbnail view- shows all pages marked or highlighted
In the thumbnail view, in addition to displaying all pages, favourites and outlines (as at present), it would be really useful to have a further option of being able to view pages where notes, marks or highlights have been inserted- using the pen or highlighter. This is really useful when reviewing a long document, and being able to get to significant parts of it because they have been marked up.

Smaller file sizes
Good day. While most of my eBooks fit 300-1000 pages in around 5-20 MB, writing 10 pages in GoodNotes gives me larger files than that. I just don’t get why that is, after all the aforementioned eBooks are so small with so many pages. Also, exporting edited eBooks as a flattened PDF to reduce file size completely removes all outlines. I would really appreciate fixes to these problems. Otherwise I really enjoy your app, thanks!!
1 voteThe indexed handwriting and text is increasing the file size in GoodNotes. Otherwise, the text would not be searchable in the app or when you export it as PDF. You can disable it in Menu > Settings > Search Indexing.
We’re continuously trying to optimize it to reduce the file size. If there are documents that are way too large in your opinion, please share one of them with us by reporting a problem to our support team: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Link scrolling on 2 devices
I have a use case where it’d be useful to be able to link the scrolling of Goodnotes on two devices.
I’d like it to be bi directional so which ever device you scroll on the other would follow.
And conversely it’d be great to easily temporarily break the link and then link back up.
One could extend the benefits of this by having one device viewing the outlines and jumping around and the second device hopping to key parts.
Many thanks
