Subject: Feedback on Text Tool Usability with Magic Keyboard (iPad)
Body:
Dear GoodNotes Team,
I am writing to share some feedback and suggestions based on my experience using GoodNotes on an iPad with a Magic Keyboard.
Difficulty Adding Text Over Images I frequently need to add text annotations on top of inserted images. However, even when I have disabled "Images" in the selection options, clicking or tapping on an image to add a text box often selects the image itself instead. This makes it difficult to type directly over images without unintended interruptions.

Increase Folder Emoji Options for Better Organization
I would love to see a wider variety of folder emoji options in GoodNotes.
Currently, the limited selection makes it harder to visually organize folders in a way that reflects different subjects, moods, or purposes. Many users rely on visual cues for quick navigation, and expanding the emoji library would greatly improve usability and personalization.
For example, adding more categories such as symbols, Exclusive color for emojis, objects, or even allowing custom emoji (including iOS emojis) would make the experience much more intuitive and enjoyable.
This small change could significantly enhance folder organization and overall user satisfaction.
Thank you for…

Support handwriting in text documents
I'm using GoodNotes both on my MacBook and iPad during lecture notes. On my MacBook, I mostly use the "text document" feature to type down my notes.
Unfourtunately, there's no handwriting support (e.g. with the Apple Pencil) as in a normal note book. I'd like to request a feature where we can enable handwriting in a text document, so we can use both ways (typing + writing) do get things done in a text document.

More Icons / Symbols for folders
I would love to see more symbols and icons to choose from for the folders. Syringes, the rod of Asclepius, band-aids, ambulances, buildings, various sports, body parts, animals, calculators, numbers, test tubes, bells, books… maybe based on emojis, or the ones available in Word

Request for More Flexible Audio Playback Speed Options
I often record my university lectures and listen to them later, but I find the current playback speed options a bit limiting. For example, 1x feels too slow, while 1.5x is slightly too fast.
it would be much more convenient if users could adjust the playback speed in smaller increments, such as 0.1 steps, or have additional options like 1.2x and 1.3x.
This would greatly improve the listening experience when reviewing recorded lectures.

Better customisable tool bar
Please add the option to freely customise the tools inside of the Apple Pencil Pro menu. I also would love to see more colour options in this menu instead of the normal three.

float note
add a feature of a "float-note"
the note will catch small part of screen, and will stay no matter what document is in its background,
and of course can be minimized when unnecessary.
can be used for:
1. common data that needs to be available while switching documents.
2. reminders or data that are not related to any document and need to stay in eye site.
3. a middle stop station from delivering data between document (for example if I want to collect information from one document and then transferre it to another- without going back and forth between them)1 vote -
Add more precise thickness adjustment options
My Apple Pencil tip works best with a thickness of 0.38, so I usually try to match that. However, the available options are limited to values like 0.3, 0.35, and 0.4, which feels a bit restrictive.
It would be much better if we could set more precise values, such as 0.38 or 0.28, by allowing finer adjustments within ranges like 0.2–0.3 or 0.3–0.4.

Sin, cosin and more clean shapes
Please introduce the ability to draw more variation of shapes, others than Lines, polygons, circles, ellipses and parabolas. Me as an engineering student would love to draw different curvy lines. I would recommend to add like 3,4,5… order polynomials and what really should be introduced is an easy and efficient way to draw sin and cosin.

Better tools and more tabs
There should she a text selection tool for copying text
Other apps have an underline or strike through tool, even a squiggly line underneath
On the same notion, the highlight right now is draw and has to be paused in place to make a straight line but a new tool could be added that specifically highlights text only and is perfectly aligned with the text instead of overlayed
It also you be nice to be able to create hyperlinks in the text so when you click on it, it jumps you to a certain page, and maybe include a return…

convert
Hello GoodNotes team,
First of all, please excuse any language errors in this message.
We wanted to share some feedback about the Math Conversion feature in GoodNotes, which we find overall very impressive. The ability to convert handwritten text, graphs, and mathematical equations is extremely useful. It is even possible to directly copy the LaTeX output to paste it elsewhere, which is a great feature.
However, we have noticed one limitation: when converting mathematical equations, it is only possible to copy the LaTeX output line by line. This can be quite tedious when working with multi-line calculations.
It would be…

Favorite Templates
There much templates to choose from… but most of them I don’t use. How about choosing favorite templates which you can choose on the top. That might speed up the workflow.

Counting stickers
It seems like we can create stickers and stickers are kinda like stamps. I am hoping to create stickers for various typical items/issues I find while on an inspection so that I can just place the sticker as the annotation for what I saw at that location.
What would be really awesome is if there could be a legend based on the stickers you choose and it would be really incredible if it would automatically count them.
For example, I’m inspecting a house and I have a sticker that is for water stains. I go around the house and place…

Lock North Direction
Being able to lock the orientation of the notebook or page you’re working on without having to lock it for the entire iPad.
When I am marking up a floor plan, I have to lock the iPad so that I can orient the floor plan to match what I’m seeing. It would be better if I can lock this in Goodnotes instead of the iPad.
Bonus would be if you can lock the page/notebook to the actual north direction. The phones already have a compass to where it knows where north is. If that could be linked to the page…

Improve textbox toolbar - remove floating toolbar
When using a text box the toolbar will drop down to the text box instead of staying by the stationary/fixed toolbar, which results in the toolbar covering the textbox, sometimes not showing up, and sometimes I must manually close the keyboard (I don’t have a separate keyboard for my IPad so I type on the screen) to access the toolbar options. In the next update please let the textbox tools stay at the stationary toolbar, and add the previous textbox menu (with only some choices such as delete and copy/cut/paste etc.) to end corner of the textbox. And when marking…

Grading Instructor-uploading
I think it is critical that an instructor upload version be provided for grading important paper exams. The instructor would upload a PDF with batches of exams. Based upon a template, the batched PDF would be split into submissions. Then each submission would be sorted to the appropriate students and go through the grading process.
This would be useful in cases where students don't have easy access to iPads/styli. Or, where teachers are giving paper exams and don't want students to handle the submission process.
