When the "Ask goodnotes" window is open, marking a different section of text should automatically update the selection in "ask goodnotes".
Ask goodnotes is a good thing but needs some pretty obvious, low hanging improvements to be really usable.
When you mark a text and do "ask good notes", and then you want to repeat it for a different text, there's no reason why you should tap ask goodnotes again, the selection inside the "ask goodnotes" tab should automatically get updated.2 votes -

Collections
I have all my notes for medical school on goodnotes. It often happens that we have the same topic in different subjects. So it would be so great if there was a „collections“ feature where I can collect all notes regarding a certain topic from different documents without it being removed from the original document or folder.
Just like when marking certain pages of my document, there could be a function „add to collection“ and then these pages are shown when I open the collection, but also when I open the document.2 votes -
Space next to the page
For me, it would be so important to just write down my extra-thoughts next to the actual page. It could be designed as „post it“ that os not on top of the page it self, but next to it, or just blanc space next to the actual page.
I mean, theoretically there is unlimited space in Goodnotes, but I can‘t use it properly to write my thoughts right next to the related notes.
In my opinion, it would be a pretty basic and uncomplicated feature that would make such a huge difference for me!2 votes -
Improved Folder Management for Purchased Templates
Suggestion:
GoodNotes currently offers a library of pre-designed templates for various purposes, such as meeting notes, to-do lists, and calendars. However, these templates are currently stored in a separate "Library" section, making it difficult to organize and access them alongside other documents.
Proposed Solution:
Implement a feature that allows users to organize purchased templates within their existing folder structure. This would enable users to:
Create dedicated folders for specific template types: For example, a folder for "Meeting Notes Templates," another for "To-Do List Templates," etc.

Automatic Electrical/Electronics Engineering Symbol Correction
I’ve been enjoying Goodnotes for most of my classes, however I find when it comes to taking notes for my electric circuit analysis classes, my drawing ability on a tablet starts to lack. So I suggest including symbols for general ECE components into the shapes library OR have an option to create custom shapes (more applicable than just ECE) that could be added to the shapes library. I enjoy the shape-snap function because it’s quick, and I need that for those fast paced lectures.

Stabilize pen tool for the handwritten note-takers. It’s 2024…
It’s almost 2025 and GoodNotes has no feature to smooth and stabilize writing with the Apple Pencil. A lot of people prefer to hand write notes as using ‘scribble’ can be tedious at times, especially to those with poor handwriting which GoodNotes seems to ensure regardless of how well you write. I want to be able to erase using the ruler
The ruler is used with the pen tool to write straight lines. I need it to also work with the eraser tool to erase straight lines. I am creating a drawing with sharp edges and the eraser simply passes through the ruler.

Stop Notifying about Goodnotes 6 upgrade
I have Goodnotes 5 and I am happy with it. I don't need Goodnotes 6. As I have bought this from you, you weren't supposed to show me any add about your new product! Please stop annoyingly showing Goodnotes 6 upgrade notification & features. Or you should add an option to stop viewing it.

Flash card

Template
The template purchases currently download as a notebook with 300+ pages that you have to manually input into custom templates page by page.
I want my purchase to either download as the full template or have the proper system to upload the full pdf and organize between cover or page.
Basically just be able to do a multiple page template download that's doesn't have a limit to pages downloaded at once.2 votes -
highlight colour by default
It would be great if you could select the default highlight color depending on the document you're in, so that if you highlight using the text selection for multiple lines, you can have it in the colour you wish, and not always yellow. It's a bit tiresome to have to change the colour to your own preference every time

save as default for different documents
I love the save as default feature, but depending on the document I will use one size or the other. It would be great to have a default font per document, just as you can choose one template per document and do not have to change it every time I write
