1. Auto-refine Handwriting

   I’d like to suggest that GoodNotes add an auto-refine or handwriting smoothing feature that subtly corrects small imperfections in handwriting without changing the user’s natural writing style.

   Currently, when writing with the Apple Pencil using the ballpoint pen, I’ve noticed that the strokes sometimes add unwanted flicks or extra lines at the end of letters, which makes the handwriting look less clean and natural, this is extremely irratating as on other app my handwriting doesnt appear to be like that. Even with the stability setting at zero, it still happens, and it disrupts the flow of writing, especially for users who write quickly or use cursive.

   An auto-refine option (or an improved stabilization engine) could help automatically clean up these flicks and overlines while keeping the handwriting authentic and responsive.

   It would be great if this feature could be adjustable, so users could choose how much correction or refinement is applied depending on their writing style.

3. [Marker] Improvements

   The ONLY thing that Noteshelf has on you guys is the writing experience. Noteshelf has true marker feeling with lights and darks as you write. The pencil is far better... goodnotes' pencil (while appreciated) is primitive in comparison. The writing experience should be a priority to pull in a whole new category of work - art. It doesn't have to be all art tools. I don't expect it to be an art app. But I would love the writing experience and sketching experience provided in Noteshelf that, in actuality, they have had for the past 10 years. Everything else about GoodNotes is better, in my opinion.

4. Please bring back typing + handwriting in the same note

   I really miss the old version where I could type text and handwrite in the same note. Now I have to choose between typing or writing note, which honestly makes note taking so much harder.

   I know there’s the “text” option in the handwriting mode, but it’s just not the same… it doesn’t sync as neatly, and I waste so much time adjusting font size, boldness, spacing, etc. It totally breaks my focus and I end up missing a lot of info during class.

   Please, please bring back the ability to type and write in the same note again. It used to be so smooth and perfect

   I would like to suggest adding a “Copy Format / Paste Format” feature to GoodNotes.

7. Back to technical drawing

   As an aerospace engineer, it was essential for me to be able to draw curves and lines by connecting points without going crazy. Since the last update, if you connect multiple curved lines, the system interprets this function however it wants and gives it a shape completely different from what I intended. Moreover, if you create simple shapes like circles inside other figures, it’s no longer possible to rotate the entire drawing. Please go back to the old logic — it was 100 times better.

8. More space for note taking

   I would like GoodNotes to allow unlimited note-taking space when working with PDFs. Currently, notes can only be written directly on the PDF pages, which is limiting. It would be very helpful to have expandable space around or beside the pages to add more detailed notes. Additionally, features like side notes, connecting lines, and more flexible layouts would improve the overall note-taking experience and make it easier to organize and connect ideas.

9. Allow text sizes below 8pt (1–7pt)

   Hello, thank you for always providing a wonderful app.

   I would like to request a feature regarding the text tool in GoodNotes 6.
   
   In the current version, the minimum font size is fixed at 8pt.
   
   However, in previous versions, being able to use 1–7pt was extremely helpful for writing small annotations, subscripts, chemical formulas, and compact notes.

   If possible, I would greatly appreciate it if you could:
   ・ Allow font sizes below 8pt again (1–7pt)

   This function would benefit many users who need fine, detailed writing.

10. GoodNotes 6 did this better. Bring those text features back.

    I’m glad to see that some parts of the app have improved with the latest update. However, the text editing experience is still much less convenient compared to GoodNotes 6.

    Why did you add the unnecessary “Modern, Classic, Technical” text panel in the text box? Please replace it with the “Recently Used Fonts” feature like in GoodNotes 6. Many users frequently switch between multiple fonts, so removing that feature truly makes no sense.

    Also, I really hope you bring back the option to keep the font, size, and text settings fixed at the top like in GoodNotes 6. Something that used to take one tap now requires two or three taps — and it feels like a step backward rather than an improvement.

    I appreciate the efforts being made, but I sincerely hope the next update will further improve the text experience and usability.

11. Change thickness of Writing After Already Written

    It'd be very useful to be able to change the thickness of writing after I have already written something. I often forget to change the thickness when I write and when I go back to edit. Just expanding the written text is NOT the same and makes it very difficult. Often, I have to delete the text and rewrite it, which wastes a lot of time. I have a friend who complains about it too, so it's good to know it's not just me. But please... I need this.

    I would love to see a feature that allows users to take a photo of handwritten notes and convert them into fully editable GoodNotes digital ink.

    The key difference from importing a photo is that the handwriting itself becomes editable.

    How it could work:

    1. Take or Import a Photo

       • Users can take a photo of handwritten notes from:
         • Notebook page
         • Loose paper
         • Whiteboard

    2. Convert Handwriting into Digital Ink

       • GoodNotes AI analyzes the handwriting and reconstructs it as editable digital ink strokes.
       • The converted notes should closely match the original handwriting style and layout.

    3. Replace the Photo Background

       • Instead of keeping the original photo background, GoodNotes places the converted handwriting onto a standard GoodNotes page.
       • Users could choose lined, dotted, grid, or blank paper templates.
       • This creates a clean note page rather than a photo of a whiteboard or sheet of paper.

    4. Fully Editable Notes

       • After conversion, users can:
         • Erase individual strokes
         • Move handwritten content
         • Resize notes
         • Change ink colors
         • Use the lasso tool
         • Add additional handwriting
         • Organize content across pages

    Example Use Case
    A student takes a photo of a professor's whiteboard before leaving class. Instead of saving the image as a static photo, GoodNotes converts the writing into editable digital ink on a clean notebook page. 13. bring back continuous text box and allowing use to set to specifc font color

    New update removed ability to stay on typing function and will revert back to Lasso. This is so annoying. Also bring back allowing the user to choose their default font color. My school uses dark colored ppts and when typing the auto selected black font makes it impossible to keep up with note taking as i constantly must highlight the text and change it to white font.

14. Bring back the ball point pen

    I hate using the fountain pen because I want all my writing to look consistent. The fountain pen has places where it's thicker and places where it's thinner and it drives me crazy. The ball point pen was way better because it was consistent. Bring it back!

15. Better combination of handwriting and typing

    When taking notes using handwriting and typing with a keyboard case it’s often a struggle to change betweeen the tools.
    When the writing tool is selected, I can’t type at all and have to long press on the page to select start typing / edit text. This is very annoying.
    The writing mode isn’t very intuitive either. It would be nice to just start typing without clicking many buttons.

16. Bug Report: Faulty PDF text data recognition blocks Text Box and Link tools

    Dear Goodnotes Support Team,
    I am writing to report a severe editing issue caused by the app's automatic PDF text recognition behavior, which currently frozen manual touch inputs on the document.
    When opening a PDF, Goodnotes automatically recognizes the text data and forcefully clusters a wide area into an unwanted purple selection block—even though I did not long-press to select any text. Furthermore, this text boundary recognition is highly inaccurate, capturing oversized regions regardless of the actual text layout.
    The critical issue is that within these faulty, automatically recognized text areas, all other manual touch inputs are completely disabled.
    My only goal is to tap on the empty spaces within that region to insert a new text box for typing or to add a hyperlink. However, because the app prioritizes the automatically recognized text data area, the entire region becomes completely unresponsive to the Text Box and Link tools. I am entirely blocked from inserting text or links where I want them, simply because the app has forcefully occupied that space with its automated text index.
    To resolve this workflow-breaking issue, I strongly request the following updates:

    1. Provide a [Toggle Switch in Settings] to completely disable this automatic text recognition/selection feature for users who do not need it.
    2. Ensure that manual user actions (like tapping to insert a Text Box or Link) [take absolute priority over the existing PDF text data area] so that users can freely type anywhere on the document.

    This text recognition behavior severely hinders the core note-taking experience. I kindly ask your development team to review this mechanic and release a swift fix.

18. smart pen

    I really enjoy using GoodNotes and I’m very happy with the app.

    One feature I’d love to see is support for a smart pen made for GoodNotes, whether developed by your team or through a partnership.

    Sometimes it’s easier to quickly write ideas on paper. If those handwritten notes could be transferred directly into GoodNotes while preserving the natural feel of handwriting, it would create a great bridge between analog and digital note-taking.

19. allow arrows without rounded corner/bend

    Whenever I want to use the arrow tool to draw axes (two perpendicular segments drawn with one stroke), I use an arrow with arrowheads at both ends. The problem is that, no matter what I do the corner is rounded

    Is it possible to allow the corner bend NOT to be rounded?

    I actually do not know whether this is a bug or a feature request...

20. Scribble But Without Textbox

    I want much more freedom when I write than a textbox! So I'm requesting a feature where you can manually turn it on or off and when you write with your Apple Pencil on your iPad in GoodNotes with any pen (like brush pen, ball pen, fountain pen), as you write in real-time, your text gets replaced with a font. So it's basically scribble as you write with your handwriting and it gets turned into a font but without the textbox limitation. Because it saves a lot of time instead of clicking on the text box icon, then selecting text box size, and then start writing, especially when you are notetaking and the professor goes really fast!     I want much more freedom when I write than a textbox! So I'm requesting a feature where you can manually turn it on or off and when you write with your Apple Pencil on your iPad in GoodNotes with any pen (like brush pen, ball pen, fountain pen), as you write in real-time, your text gets replaced with a font. So it's basically scribble as you write with your handwriting and it gets turned into a font but without the textbox limitation.
