Capital Letters
When trying to write a word that starts with a capital letter it doesn't seem to recognize the difference between an uppercase and lowercase letter, autocorrecting the word to be entirely lowercase. (Example: writing "Learning" will autocorrect to "learning")
Please fix this!! I love this app, this is the only thing that truly frustrates me.

Clean up option
I’d love to see an option that would allow GoodNotes to edit hand written notes using ai. Ai could detect/ view your overall handwriting style. When hand written notes are written more messy or not perfectly straight or if the letters are slightly bigger then good notes would fix it making it more neat, straight and same size. It would save the user so much more time from having to rewrite notes to make them straighter or having them be converted to text which most of the time the full sentence isn’t converted correctly so you have to edit it…

Serious Overheating and Battery Drain Issues
I’ve been dealing with a persistent issue for about 8 months now, and it’s becoming a dealbreaker. My iPad Air 11 gets excessively hot and the battery drains at an alarming rate whenever I’m using Goodnotes.
This has been happening since the very first day I bought the iPad. I have already tried disabling the handwriting recognition and the dictionary/indexing features, but unfortunately, it didn't help at all.
I am very concerned about the long-term impact on my device. Constant exposure to high temperatures is detrimental to battery health and can lead to permanent hardware degradation. It's disappointing that a…

[Study Sets] Add Timer-Based Auto-Flip
Open Practice should have a timer and auto flip function.
Scenario:
You want a quick run through of the material but remain accountable. You start the timer. You get 2 minutes to look at the question and then it flips to the answer. It refreshes your memory without allowing you to skip thinking. Plus its hands free.3 votes -
Eliminate hover in windows
It's very annoying, the hover effect they recently added to GoodNotes on Windows. Visually, it makes my eyes get tired quickly when I move the mouse over the document.

Please revise the shape snap after latest update and the new arrow feature
So I don't hate the new update, but there are some things that could be a little better. Then new tool bar is taking a bit to get used to, but I genuinely like it. One of my biggest problems is the updated snap to shape. I would like to Goodnotes to snap into shape, but I would like it closer to what I am trying to draw. For example, Goodnotes will not snap into a hexagon to draw organic molecules.
On another note, I see real potential with the arrows for the new shape update. I really like the…

automatically move to end of a notebook on open
It would be great to have a setting that would cause the notebook to open to the last page. I use my notebooks to study and take notes on books I read, so each notebook has more then a few pages.

Revert change for making shapes change to one line style
A recent update made it so that if I draw 2 differently colored lines originating from the same point and then connected them with a 3rd differently colored line it converts the original 2 lines to be that 3rd color. As a math/engineering student this makes it impossible for me to draw things like vectors with 2 different colors because the app will just automatically convert them to the same color. Please revert this change!

Disable long press menu as a palm rejection option
When I’m writing with my apple pencil I’m constantly accidentally activating the paste, zoom, comment, link long press menu with my fingers, I never use this menu, so I think it would be helpful to be able to disable it in the palm rejection settings menu.

Major UX Overhaul needed for Flashcards & Study Sets
While Goodnotes is world-class for note-taking and PDF annotation, the flashcard creation and editing interface feels outdated and clunky by comparison. The UI is unintuitive and lacks the fluid editing experience found in the rest of the app.
Furthermore, the current 'Smart Learn' mode is not advanced enough for high-volume users. I would like to see a true Spaced Repetition System (SRS) implemented—similar to Anki’s algorithm—where cards are shown based on specific difficulty levels and memory retention. At the very least, please allow us to customize these intervals. For medical students, having a programmable and efficient flashcard system is essential…

Lack of interoperability for Flashcards / Study Sets
Goodnotes is an amazing tool for handwriting, but its Flashcard system feels isolated. Currently, compatibility with other apps is non-existent because the app only accepts and exports its own format.
I want to be able to share my materials with friends who use different platforms and vice versa. It would be a game-changer if Goodnotes allowed us to export/import sets in common formats (like those used by Anki). In a high-stakes environment like medical school, interoperability isn't just a 'plus'—it’s a necessity. Please stop the format lock-in and let us study collaboratively!2 votes -
Docs - allow customizing highlight color
In a Text Docs when I use the color highlighter I cannot select the same colors as in a handwritten note or where I insert a text box. In text docs there is a very limited number of highlighters and the color cannot be customized.

Handwritten text inside tables
Currently tables can only be created inside documents; and in documents you cannot write handwritten text.
In the future, if tables will be available inside whiteboards and notes, would be useful to have handwritten text inside tables.
Of course a limit could be the cell. Once you began to write in a cell, the cell or the related column and row should expand accordingly to the size of the text or, once you finish to write the handwritten text, and the text is bigger compared to the cell, it should be hidden like what happens in ms excel.2 votes -
Highlight Reference Section
When taking handwritten notes or when reading a document, I will highlight important parts that I would like to come back to in the future. It would be very beneficial if there was an option to view all highlights in a document kind of like how when reading on a Kindle you can highlight quotes and then go back and review those quotes. This would make looking for specific information much more user-friendly.

Let users remove all AI bloat from app
I am not going to pretend that NOBODY uses Goodnotes AI but lets be real here, you guys must read what people say online, it is NOT as popular as the updates and focus on AI would make you believe.
But just because its trendy and a fraction of people use it, the rest of us are forced to have this stuff taking up spaces and hogging resources when it provides us with no use whatsoever.
In an ideal world you would have classic Goodnotes being worked on and improved consistently and then a separate Goodnotes AI app for the…
