Predefined set of shapes
Hi Goodnotes team,
The app is really amazing. Everything is almost perfect in the app.
Only one feature is missing in this is that there should be a predefined set of shapes that could be dragged and dropped on the canvas. This would be really helpful. Thanks.1 vote -
On April 4, 2025, a bug about drawing.
Above the inserted image, draw "lines, circles, polygons, etc.", click to select "lines, circles, polygons, etc." again, the selected "lines, circles, polygons, etc." will disappear and cannot be selected again. Only after exiting and re-entering will they reappear.

Moving the page from the middle
I like to write notes with my pen, BUT I also keep the floating keyboard up as well so I can flit between the two as needed. Currently, whatever zoom amount you view the page, the page is anchored to the middle of the screen. It would be nice to be able to move my page to the side so that I can have my keyboard open without it covering my page. I’ll attach a screenshot of my current view. Graph Overlay
It would be helpful to have a graph overlay where you can add a transparent graph to help you write in a straight line. It can also be used to adjust your notes the way that you want to help with keeping items straight or aligned.

Scroll all the Bookmarked pages at once
Ok, so all my bookmarks in a document I want to be able to only see when I scroll the bookmarked pages when I press on it from that tab. For instance, in notability, all your bookmarks in that tab you can just scroll and see all of them. "Add Margin" Button for writing notes on lecture slides
Allows you to add margins to select pages within your current notebook/file. This will help students who import lecture slides from a professors course page, and then they can "Add Margins" to the slides to provide additional space to take notes instead of having to write cluttered notes directly on the lecture slides. Could have multiple different margin options: increase entire border, or only add extra space above/below, or left/right of the original content.

Option to Hide Status Bar While Using Goodnotes
I love using Goodnotes for studying and working, but I wanted to suggest a small feature that could really improve focus. On iPad, the status bar (with the time, battery, etc.) stays visible at the top while using the app. Personally, seeing the time constantly adds pressure and anxiety, especially during deep work or study sessions.
It would be amazing if there were an option to auto-hide the status bar, similar to how Notability does it when opening the app. This small change would really help users like me stay focused and less distracted.

INDUSTRY STANDARD text formatting
GoodNotes is the best note taking app for iPad.
But there is a chunk of the userbase which uses it on their laptops/mac's and use the text feature a lot - both full page writing tool and floating text box alike.
There's a lot to improve and catch up in these features comparing to dominating industry standards of note taking apps writing tools like in Notion for example.
GoodNotes could leverage its handwriting features combined with an improved text writing experience to be even more outstanding in the market of note taking apps.

Laser Pointer in Voice recordings
I suggest for the laser pointer to show up in the notes when you do a voice recording. Not saying for it to stay on the page but would be nice to make notes such as circling something while a professor goes over it without the circle being permanent. Hence the laser pointer function.

Improve AI Diagram Generation
The AI Diagram generator feature is great for the “Mind Map”, although it struggles to edit mistakes, but the horizontal flow chart as absolutely awful. It’s useful and could be greatly improved!

Function to freeze inserted image in place
Hey,
When writing on top of an inserted image whilst having zoomed in on said image, it sometimes occurs that whilst trying to move the visible area instead the whole image is moved/ the positioning of the image on the page is moved.
This happens because the image was accidentally selected and therefore made movable.To counteract this it would be nice to implement a feature that allows the user to "freeze an inserted image in place", meaning it can not be selected (and therefore not moved) anymore until it is "unfrozen".

Update Idea: Hide Pages Instead of Deleting Them
Currently, GoodNotes does not offer a way to temporarily hide pages without deleting them. Users who want to remove certain pages from view must delete them permanently. This lack of flexibility makes it harder to structure notes effectively and increases the risk of accidental data loss. Enable users to hide pages temporarily without deleting them, providing an intuitive and visually clear way to manage hidden pages.
How It Would Work
• A new “Hide Page” option would be added to the same menu as “Delete Page.”

When creating new element allow to paste from clipboard
Noteshelf does this. Very handy when using the subject detection in Photos on iPad or iPhone. I'm taking photos of stickers from sticker books and iOS is very good at selecting the subject from the background.
