I love the app and use it daily across iPad + Windows. But I’m hitting the same wall every single session: there’s no way to save separate, named pen color palettes for different contexts.
My workflow swings between:
White backgrounds (lecture slides, lab reports) → darker inks
Black backgrounds (my own notes) → lighter/pastel inks
Right now I’m forced to maintain one long presets strip and manually hunt/eyedropper colors each time. It’s slow, error-prone, and breaks focus. After months of this, it’s honestly pretty frustrating because color is a core UX primitive in note-taking.

Eliminate long press features
When I “long press” (problem just occurs whilst journaling) three options pop up “zoom, add link, add comment”. I have long press disable everywhere I can on my end.

remember options for export
every time I export my document to a PDF the options are restored to their default values. I should be able to choose these defaults, or at the very least remember my preferences. For example, every time I export I have to deactivate "Enable Handwriting Recognition". One time should be enough!

Two things I need to utilise the new documents (markdown) feature
Firstly, kudos to the team for introducing markdown documents!
What I need to use it actively:
- Support for markdown documents on Goodnotes web (Critical)!
Reason: I use Goodnotes at work for my personal notes as well. However, I can't download the goodnotes windows app on my work laptop. I also use a windows pc and I can't get the markdown feature there.
- Ability to add markdown documents inside Goodnotes notebooks (Important)

Notes taking for Engineering students / professionals
Being an engineering professional this apps is not very conversant in taking Engg notes. It is requested to incorporate following.
1. Either allow to paste tables from excel sheets which should be editable or develop a tool to create table easily.
2. Allow to embed word file into Goodnotes. Also allow subscripts and superscripts like that in word.
3. Develop or create symbols to insert scientific, maths, geometry, Greek small
& capital.
4. Also insert function .

Improved Connector Handwritten Item Selection (VIDEO)
Hi there!
I absolutely love Goodnotes and the direction of BETA. However, during my experimentation, I discovered a limitation compared to Miro. For the record, I believe Goodnotes’ writing experience is significantly better than Miro’s. Nevertheless, I need connectors that function 2-way in relation to handwritten items. (SEE VIDEO)

Hi GoodNotes team,
I love using your flashcard feature to study for the MCAT, but I’d really appreciate an option to mark flashcards as completed and continue reviewing where I left off.Right now, if I accidentally exit mid-review, I have to restart the entire deck, even if I’ve already gone through 50+ cards. This makes it harder to stay focused and finish large study sets.
Thank you for all the improvements you’ve made—this one would be a game changer!

Would anyone find value in being able to flip or control the transparency of an object?
When creating documents, I have wanted to include a picture behind my words without obstructing them. I’ve also wanted to flip the picture for a cleaner look. These are 2 features I often use in Canva and forget I don’t have the ability in Goodnotes. I love this program and enjoy the ability it provides to be creative!

Template imports
I recently purchased a large template pack (70+ templates) from the GoodNotes Marketplace and noticed that I had to manually select and import each one individually. It would be incredibly helpful if there were an option to automatically import all templates from a purchased pack in one tap.
This would save a lot of time for users, especially when dealing with large bundles, and create a smoother experience right after purchase.

carry over text boxes to next page
since you don't have the option to have main text go into the left hand column of the cornell notes, I have no option but to use the text box option. so when I am trying to copy and paste my 80 key words into the document I have to waste 2 hours manually breaking them up and putting them into each page since the text boxes don't just automatically carry over. completely ridiculous and suchhhhhhh a waste of time its driving me up the wall. or at least jus have the option for the main texting mode to work…

Leave scanned documents in DIN A4 format (and dont duplicate when dragging to add new page)
Scanned documents always get changed to US Letter Format even if they’re in DIN A4 and then afterwards when you drag down it just copies the scanned page instead of adding a normal on of the notebooks template

Greater control over Math and handwriting
We should be able to write something out and if we want to go back and change not just the color, the stroke size, whether we want it written with dashed lines, dotted lines. Also we should be able to charge the color of our math equations

Lasso Tool
The options for a selection with the lasso tool changed recently and it now adds an extra step when I want to duplicate or change the color of the selection. I’d prefer the way it was previously where duplicate and the color options were quickly accessible.

Setting a default size for inserted images
Request: Please add an option to set a default size for inserted images.

snap to grid
As someone who struggles with a physical illness (hand tremors), having a drawn line snap to the background grid of a page or having anything snap to a grid pattern of a page, would really, really help. It seems bizarre that this very basic feature is not available as its available on Notability. It's the single reason I can't switch over completely to Goodnotes, as just about everything is great, except for that very, very important feature.

TEXT BOX UPDATE
I’m a frequent user of GoodNotes and truly appreciate the powerful tools your app offers, especially for digital note-taking. However, I wanted to provide feedback about a frustrating issue I experience regularly when using the Apple Pencil’s Scribble feature to input text into text boxes.
Currently, when I use Scribble to convert my handwriting into typed text, the capitalization (uppercase vs. lowercase letters) often does not match what I originally wrote. This forces me to go back and manually edit each letter to correct capitalization, which disrupts my workflow and takes up unnecessary time.
