   Feature Request: Add File Replace Option When Importing Files with the Same Name
   When importing a file with the same name, GoodNotes currently brings it in as a new document and renames it as “filename 2.”
   However, sometimes instead of importing it as a new document, it would be better to overwrite/replace the existing file.

   When the file being imported has the same name as an existing file, it would be great if a prompt appeared asking whether the user wants to:

   Overwrite the existing file,

   Import as a new file, or

   Cancel the import.

   Adding this overwrite option would be very useful.

   안녕하세요. 저는 수업에 활용하기 위해 굿노트를 사용합니다.
   다른 어플이 아니라 굿노트를 선택한 이유는
   화면 미러링을 통해 텔레비전에 아이패드 화면을 띄울 때
   프레젠테이션 모드에서 진행자 페이지 미러링을 선택하면
   학생들에게 다른 인터페이스는 보이지 않기 때문입니다.
   특히 스플릿뷰를 통해서 굿노트 옆에 다른 어플을 켜서 활용해도
   학생들에게는 보이지 않는 점이 가장 편했습니다.
   굿노트 왼쪽에 다른 어플을 두면 새로 켠 어플과 굿노트 화면이 모두 뜨고
   굿노트 오른쪽에 다른 어플을 두면 굿노트 화면만 떠서
   다양한 방식으로 활용할 수 있는 점이 좋았어요.
   그런데 아이패드 업데이트 후에 굿노트를 사용하다가 다른 어플을 스플릿뷰로 켜면
   무조건 굿노트와 다른 어플 화면 모두가 미러링된 화면에 노출이 됩니다.
   예전처럼 사용할 수 있게 개선을 제발 부탁드립니다.

   Hello, I use Good Note to use in my class.
   The reason why I chose Good Note, not another app
   When displaying an iPad screen on a television through screen mirroring
   When you select host page mirroring in presentation mode
   This was because the interface did not appear on the television screen.
   Even if you turn on another app next to Good Note and use it through Split View
   It was most convenient for the students not to see.
   If you put another application on the left side of the Good Note, both the newly turned application and the Good Note screen will appear.
   And if you put another application on the right side of the Good Note, only the Good Note screen will appear.
   I liked that I could use it in various ways like this.
   But after the iPad update, if you use Good Note and turn on another app with Split View
   Both Good Note and other application screens are exposed to mirrored screens.
   Please improve it so that it can be used as before.

   Hi can we bring back the double tap to switch highlighter color? It’s not working on neither of my iPads and I have tried in both with different pencils (pro and 2nd gen). Has it been removed? Or is it a bug?

4. Swipeable Menus

   To making changing between the different menus (i. e. between pen settings, eraser settings) easier and less of a reach, being able to swipe between tool menus to choose different settings would be convenient. For instance, assuming the menu is on the left of the screen and we’re currently on the eraser menu, swiping left from the menu to the edge of the screen (1A) would go to the pen menu(1B). Alternatively swiping right from the edge of the screen to the menu from the eraser settings (2A) would go to text menu (2B). I’ve attached screenshots with arrows for 1A and 2A to better explain.

5. Add Text in Text Box to Handwriting Conversion

   Feature Request: Add Text Box to Handwriting Conversion
   I would like to request a feature that converts typed text into handwriting, similar to Apple’s Markup functionality.

   It would be great if GoodNotes could analyze the user’s existing handwritten notes within documents and use that handwriting style to convert typed text into personalized handwriting.
   If no handwriting data is available, the app could prompt the user to provide handwriting samples for analysis and learning.

   This feature would allow typed text to blend naturally with handwritten notes, improving consistency and the overall note-taking experience in GoodNotes.

6. Improve Lasso Tool Visibility and Selection Feedback

   As shown in the attached images, it would be beneficial to add a movement or animated effect to the Lasso tool so that users can more clearly recognize its motion while selecting an area.

   Additionally, similar to the Lasso tool in Photoshop, I would like to request a feature that allows users to visually confirm exactly which handwritten content has been selected when using the Lasso tool. When selecting handwritten notes, it is sometimes unclear which parts are included in the selection.

   For example, as illustrated in the images, it would be helpful to clearly distinguish between selecting the entire Goodnotes area versus selecting only a specific portion (such as “es”), with a visible indication of the selected region.

   This improvement would greatly enhance accuracy and usability when working with handwritten content.

7. Request for Improved Pencil Writing Feel (Adding Jitter Control and Grit Control Options)

   As shown in the attached image, a pencil thickness of approximately 0.3–0.35 mm provides the most comfortable writing experience. When the thickness is set above or below this range, the jitter either becomes too weak or too strong, which significantly reduces writing satisfaction.

   For this reason, I would like to request the addition of adjustable jitter control and grit (texture) control options.

   Additionally, the current pencil tool lacks advanced customization options. To enhance professional writing and drawing experiences, I propose separating the pencil tool into distinct categories, such as pencil and mechanical pencil. Furthermore, similar to real pencils (e.g., 2B, HB, 2H), it would be highly beneficial to introduce configurable options including:

   • Tip sharpness

   • Pressure sensitivity

   • Tip flatness

   • Stroke stabilization

   • Dashed or broken stroke option

   These enhancements would greatly improve precision, control, and overall writing quality for users who rely on detailed and professional handwriting input.

9. Make the pop-up menu that has the font size, color, format a floating menue.

   Make the pop-up menu for font color, size, and format float. Whenever I want to adjust or edit a text, the menu box pops up and gets in my way of what I want to change. I flip my screen to try to get around it but the menu is still in the way. I can’t drag it to move it.

10. Make tape feature accessible across all versions

    Make tape feature available across all versions, considering this app is primarily used by students who utilize active recall, and several users have already paid a one-time purchase fee for earlier versions. Yearly subscription is subpar compared to competing developers who either require a one-time purchase fee with numerous features that are not available on Goodnotes or offer these same features at reduced pricing. Greed gets you nowhere but forgotten.

    Similar to math ai, auto-complete or suggest answers using handwritten notes as the experience.

    For Example if I write Valentines Date: then show a suggestion to fill in the date. or show icon that can prompt the user to trigger ai. and provide suggested answers.

    If I wrote github is a then it could provide a suggestion autocomplete similar to google search. It doesn't even have to always leverage heavy token based LLM.

    But it can provide better answers using llm, websearch and better understanding of content/ context window.

    A second phases of this could be to replace content by being triggered by magic placeholders. I could write "ai generate list of ingredients to make pizza" or "ai generate pizza recipe"

    I only use goodnotes for the pen experience, and do not want to leave that workflow when I am trying to use the ai features.

    Essentially it would function as a content aware auto-complete.

    The text editor bar now moves with the text when you type with the new update. This is very distracting due to the constant shifting of the items on the bar while trying to type and blocks the other information on the page. PLEASE FIX URGENTLY.

    Currently, Goodnotes does not offer a feature that allows users to replace pages in the same way as a “Change PDF” function. While there is a template change feature, it is limited to Goodnotes’ built-in templates and note-style formats, and requires importing content into Goodnotes first.

    In many cases, there are situations where a page needs to be replaced—for example, when a lecture material contains typos or when an updated version of the file is provided. Therefore, it would be highly useful to have a feature that allows users to select a replacement file (from Google Drive, iCloud Drive, or other cloud storage services) and directly replace the existing page that contains errors or needs revision.

    In addition, a “Replace File” feature would be valuable, allowing users to swap the entire document with an updated version while preserving existing annotations, structure, or page order where possible. Such functionality would greatly improve workflow efficiency, especially for students and professionals who frequently work with revised lecture materials or documents.

19. Text boxes cut off when switching the desktop app use; Feature Request – Auto-Expand Text Boxes in Desktop App

    I’m a Pro user and have noticed that in the desktop app, text boxes often appear cut off until I click on each one. This can be quite time-consuming when reviewing notes with many text boxes.

    I would love to see a feature that allows text boxes to automatically expand or fully display their content by default, without needing to click on each box individually.

    This improvement would greatly enhance the user experience and help maintain note readability across devices.

    Allow us to use the old versions of tools, whether an option in settings or the tool itself. Tools like the line editing tool are now useless at smaller levels as the circle used to select the line can be massively larger than the line itself, making it impossible to actually see what you are doing, but in the past it used to scale with how zoomed in you were. Other tools like the shape tool also have been affected by this. I make many complex drawings and diagrams for physics and I can no longer do practically any of them anymore due to this. Please allow us to use the older version of tools somewhere in Goodnotes as right now some stuff is almost impossible to actually do currently.
