1. Support Right-to-Left Page Turning / Right-Bound Notebooks for Japanese Vertical Writing

   I would like to request an option to reverse the page-turning direction of notebooks and PDF documents.

   Currently, Goodnotes is primarily designed around left-bound documents, where pages progress from left to right. However, traditional Japanese documents that use vertical writing are generally right-bound, with pages progressing from right to left.

   This is not limited to books, manga, or traditional publishing. It is also an important issue for professional users in the Japanese animation industry.

   Japanese Animation Production Scripts

   In Japanese anime production, scripts used for voice recording and audio production are traditionally formatted with vertical Japanese text and right-to-left page progression.

   These recording scripts are used extensively during professional anime production by voice actors, sound directors, directors, producers, and other production staff.

   Tablets such as the iPad are increasingly used in professional production environments, and applications like Goodnotes can be extremely useful for reading scripts, writing notes, marking dialogue, and making production annotations.

   However, because Goodnotes currently assumes left-to-right page progression, Japanese vertical scripts behave in the opposite direction from the way the physical script was designed to be read.

   For professionals who have spent many years working with traditional Japanese scripts, this makes page navigation unintuitive and significantly reduces the usability of Goodnotes for this purpose.

   Requested Feature

   It would be very helpful if Goodnotes could provide a document or notebook setting such as:

   Page Direction

   Left to Right (Left-bound)

   Right to Left (Right-bound)

   Ideally, this setting would affect:

   Page-turning gestures

   Horizontal scrolling

   Two-page / spread view

   Thumbnail ordering

   Page navigation

   PDF viewing

   For a right-bound document, the first page should appear on the right side of a two-page spread, and subsequent pages should progress toward the left, matching the behavior of a traditional Japanese book or script.

   Why This Matters

   Right-to-left page progression remains an important part of Japanese publishing and professional content creation.

   It is used not only for manga and books, but also for professional Japanese anime recording scripts and other vertically written production documents.

   Supporting right-bound documents would therefore not simply be a cosmetic localization feature. It would make Goodnotes substantially more practical for professional workflows in Japan's animation, publishing, manga, and entertainment industries.

   As someone working professionally in Japanese animation production, I would very much appreciate having this option in Goodnotes.

2. Option to disable lasso tool alignment guides

   Please consider an option in the settings to disable the newly added alignment guides when using the lasso tool. For some this is a distracting feature and should be optional.

3. smart pen

   I really enjoy using GoodNotes and I’m very happy with the app.

   One feature I’d love to see is support for a smart pen made for GoodNotes, whether developed by your team or through a partnership.

   Sometimes it’s easier to quickly write ideas on paper. If those handwritten notes could be transferred directly into GoodNotes while preserving the natural feel of handwriting, it would create a great bridge between analog and digital note-taking.

   I would love to have the option to assign custom names to individual pages, instead of displaying only page numbers.

   Currently, pages can only be identified by their numbers, which makes it difficult to quickly find specific notes in larger notebooks. It would be much more convenient if users could give each page a custom title, such as “Meeting Notes”, “Chapter 3”, “Ideas”, or “To-Do”.

   This feature would make navigation much faster and improve organization, especially for notebooks with many pages. It could work similarly to naming tabs or sections, while still keeping page numbers available if desired.

   I believe this would be a valuable improvement for students, professionals, and anyone using Goodnotes for extensive note-taking.

5. Go back to how the app was two years ago PLEASE

   JUST GO BACK TO THE OLDER VERSION. IT WAS MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN WHATEVER THIS IS PLEASE I BEG OF YOU. DO YOUR SELF A FAVOUR I PROMISE WE WILL ALL APPRECIATE IT MORE AND KEEP PAYING FOR THIS APP, IF YOU JUST GO BACK TO THE VERSION WE HAD TWO TO THREE YEARS AGO AND REMOVE THE AI FEATURE IT MAKES THE APP CRASH AND ITS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. 11. Page title without creating outline in sidebar/menu

    I'll start off by saying the current process is not a problem or issue, just unnecessary sometimes. That said, is there any interest or current development to allow one to name a page, visible in the sidebar/menu, that does not create an actual outline? I title my pages for ease in location and most often use the Pages view to locate what I need. Titling the individual pages is helpful as the thumbnails can be difficult to see on iPad or iPhone screens, not so much on MB. But creating a page title doesn't need to always create an outline. Yes, I can and do switch over to the outline view to locate pages when there are several within the folder or notebook, so that's not the request, but to be able to title a page and not create an outline could mean one less step.

    Pen Sub-tools: I use pen-related sub-tools more frequently than the main tools. Please allow users to pin pen sub-tools directly to the main toolbar for quicker access.

    Dedicated Shortcuts: Adding links and converting text currently requires too many taps. Please provide an option to add these specific functions as individual icons on the main toolbar.

    Text Tool Enhancements

    Text Input Issues: Since upgrading to Goodnotes 6, typing has become frustrating. When clicking to type, the app often selects the entire PDF text block instead of placing a cursor. Please allow users to tap anywhere to start typing immediately without triggering existing text blocks. Currently, it's particularly difficult with a mouse or finger compared to the Apple Pencil.

19. allow arrows without rounded corner/bend

    Whenever I want to use the arrow tool to draw axes (two perpendicular segments drawn with one stroke), I use an arrow with arrowheads at both ends. The problem is that, no matter what I do the corner is rounded

    Is it possible to allow the corner bend NOT to be rounded?

    I actually do not know whether this is a bug or a feature request...

    The flashcards on the Iphone are sometimes display so lang that you can't read the full card. This is a huge problem, as we cannot study on our phones. Please fix this small but crucial thing.
