Change filing system to be more like notability.
I LOVE this app. The only thing that irks me is the filing system. Any chance we could get a layout option that would ditch the bookshelf setup and make it more like notability?

export non-flattened PDF
It appears that when PDFs are exported they are done so as a "flattened" PDF. It would be great if the PDF elements were still editable after export - both the written notes and any fields if they were included in the original PDF.

Update 7.0.3 is re-shaping my closed shapes. And not in a good way.
Sorry, dear Goodnotes team, but sth is not cool with the new update 7.0.3 Whenever I want to draw a closed shape, it makes it all wobbly and creates some kind of text field out of it. What’s happening? How can I make it stop? I don’t need text fields, I use always my handwriting.

Bring back ability to erase/move shape fillings
Before, you could make a shape with a fill color, and erase the filler separately from the shape outline. Now, you can’t even erase the outline and leave just the filling, or vice versa.

MathNotes integration in GoodNotes
It would be great if Apples new MathNotes feature from iPadOS 18 would be integrated in GoodNotes. It is such a useful feature.

Latex editing to the Math Conversion tool
I have some feedback and features that I would like to see added to the current (experimental) math conversion tool. Currently when you convert handwritten math to typed text it sometimes doesn't include all the math, or read some of it wrong, so I tried editing the latex text that can be seen at the bottom right other converting, but I am unable to edit it. Therefore, it would be useful to be able to edit the typed math right after conversion to be able to rectify some errors in the Al's interpretation and/or simply add things.

Ability to "flip" Image/sticker
Having the ability to vertically or horizontally flip a imported image or sticker. This would be so beneficial for architecture red lines!

Please put "Add to Favorites" back in the main toolbar
With the most recent update, microphone access knocked the "Add to Favorites" button out of the main toolbar. I'm regularly adding pages to favorites as part of long documents that I mark up by hand, which I then use to pull only the favorite pages out of the document and send to a colleague quickly; now the button requires 3+ clicks to get to. I'm not going to use the microphone. At least make it the user's option to move around the icons that are featured in the main toolbar.

Pencil color opacity
The colors of the pencil should be able to have transparency, so I can write above diagrams or tables, but can still see the original content.

Nudge and/or ‘snap to grid’ option when moving selections
As someone with hand tremors, it is difficult to get things like text boxes and pictures and doodles into position easily. It would be nice if I could select an item, move it close to the desired position, then nudge it up/down/left/right with the arrows on the keyboard.
- I know tapping on the screen deselects, so I am not sure how to accomplish this with gestures when there isn’t a keyboard... maybe drag the selection with one finger and hold down another finger to allow you to tap outside the selection to nudge it in that direction...

Streamline & pressure pen customizations
I feel like it would be really nice if we could have a couple more customizations for the pen? Especially the amount of streamline, and also potentially the pressure sensitivity?

Allow people to add margins on imported PDFs
One of my favorite ways to use GoodNotes is to import documents and annotate them on the app. However, I think the experience would be a thousand times better if we could have the option to expand the margins because oftentimes the original pdf doesn't have enough space to write notes and/or insert images for reference.

Dragging pictures or anything onto the next page
It is really upsetting that I cant drag and drop any image or text onto the next page. It takes so much time and effort to copy paste the text and then go to the next page and insert and then go back to the previous page to delete the text.

Filter for annotated pages
When looking at imported PDF thumbnails, we should have an option to view only thumbnails of pages with annotations (highlights, handwriting). (like in Notability) This is especially useful for very large files, like textbooks.

Enhenced pen tool.
Renently, notability can draw a curve line.
Need to improve pen tool to draw a curve line - also arrow line
As a math teacher and 5-year goodnote user, need to draw a cartesian coordinate plane, or quadratic&cubic&quartic function.
Please make four-dotted line -like vectornator or Illustrator- to draw that curve! Before I change to Notability!

Images could be mirrored within the edit and cropping options. Allows for symmetrical designs.

Edit tool bar/ lasso tool
With more than 3 colors in the tool bar, but it would be perfect if we could edit the tool bar and eliminate the tools we don’t use
About lasso tool, you can improve it with a multiple choose of the objects you want to edit, 4example the texts you want to edit with the same color

Better Lasso Tool
For the lasso tool. The blank space where the colour and size selection is should be toggles for the lasso tool. Like if I want to lasso just the handwriting and not the image/highlights or if I don't want to move textboxes. This would be really useful when adding side notes to annotations

Import PDFs making possible to take notes next to it in the same document
In Microsofts OneNote its possible to import a PDF in a way that there is space next to every page of it. I really miss this in GoodNotes as this is a great feature to really work with texts an take a lot of annotations, event though there is no free space in the PDF. This would work great using landscape mode!

What I miss in Goodnotes 5
I have been using Notability for my class notes for over a year and am just now starting to use Goodnotes 5 specifically for bullet journaling. There are a few features I love in Notability that I think would be great in Goodnotes:
