1. Stop AI outlines on pdf

   Stop allowing goodnotes to make irreversible AI outlines that I can never toggle off unless I go delete them one by one which is super inconvenient. I get that you guys are trying to develop AI but this is seriously ruining the user experience. Make it either so that it only generates outline when I ask it too, or make it so that I can get rid of it when I import the document.

2. zoom out

   be able to zoom out, and allow the page to stay zoomed out. i would like to be able to have buffer room on the left and right of the page, as of right now, you can only zoom in, any attempt to zoom out (to see multiple pages at once, or understand where the edge of the page is) the page bounces back to fit the screen width.

3. 3 thumbnails on the ipad mini

   4 thumbnails in one row makes it very hard to see what page is it. 3 thumbnails should be better to discern what is the page contents.

4. Select and copy as a screenshot just like notability

   I echo this like other users did before. Math can be very messy especially with lots of questions. When you have to screenshot a question, you need to do a full 4 actions sequence to get a pasteable screenshot. If we can have a select copy paste screenshot this would be a killer-feature !

5. Suggestion for Changing the Hover Cursor to a Pencil Icon

   I would like to respectfully suggest that the cursor icon displayed while hovering be changed from the current dotted shape to a pencil icon.
   I use Goodnotes while giving online lectures, and I find the current dotted cursor neither aesthetically pleasing nor easy to see. As a result, it can be difficult to clearly track the pen position while writing. I believe that changing the cursor to a pencil-shaped icon would greatly improve both visibility and the overall user experience.

   When I try to write with the keyboard, the text doesn’t appear right away — it’s like the touch input isn’t responding properly. This kind of issue feels unacceptable, especially for a note-taking app. Previously, I could simply tap and type immediately, but now I have to tap, type, then click twice on the screen before my previous note ends, and even then, I need to press the keyboard tool or “T” again to start typing a new note. It seems like whoever designed this update has never actually taken notes during a lecture. This update added unnecessary steps — it’s the worst, worst, worst update ever.

7. Write in Place

   Write in Place makes the page automatically shift to the left while writing, so your hand can stay almost in the same position. It does not matter where on the page you begin writing. As soon as you write a letter or a word, the system measures how far your pen moves to the right. The page does not move during the stroke itself, but every time you lift the pen, it immediately shifts to the left by exactly that amount.

   This is especially important for cursive writing: if you write a whole word in one continuous motion, the page would only move after you finish the word and lift the pen. If you only write a single small letter and then lift the pen, it would already shift after that one letter.

   For example, if you write a small letter and your pen moves 0.3 cm to the right, the page shifts 0.3 cm to the left as soon as you lift the pen. If you write a longer part, such as a whole word, and your pen moves 2 cm to the right, the page shifts 2 cm to the left after you lift the pen.

   This keeps the area where you are writing almost in the same place on the screen, so you can continue writing there without having to move your hand further and further across the display.

   Spaces would work naturally: if you continue writing right next to the previous word, it connects directly. If you want to start a new word, you simply place the pen a little further to the right, leaving a small gap that becomes the space.

   Write in Place could be turned on and off with an icon in the top right corner. When you get close to the right edge of the page, a small “next line” button could appear in the top right. If you tap it, the page returns to the point where the text line started, but one line lower and centered again on the screen. You would not have to press it immediately — you could also finish the line first or keep moving manually if you prefer.

9. [Lock Objects] Make lock harder to unlock

   Now that lock has been implemented, I find it too easy to select the locked object, making writing on top of it difficult.

   How about something like a long press to unlock or something like that so the locked item stays locked and unselected.

10. More customer surveys and research before large changes to UI

    I have been reading a lot of feedback from the new 7.0.4 update and there is a clear consensus among all users I saw who gave feedback that this update has worsened the user experience. As a university student and researcher, I found this app to previously be the best in the market by FAR (especially as you used to offer the lifetime payment option, which I prefer over subscription based services). I think it's important to offer this option as I am under the impression that this has been removed. I also feel that there was not enough communication done with users before this update given the large general discontentment that everyone is experiencing with the app.

    I understand that it may be difficult sometimes to find customers who want to do surveys/go through the effort of giving feedback but there is still a population of us who are willing to do so. I engage in the handwriting recognition contributions, and am part of the testing group (as of recent when I found out it existed) and think that we are probably the most valuable resource you have when it comes to UI, given that the app is made for OUR use.

    I also agree with another comment where sometimes change for the sake of change is not actually beneficial. While I do dislike the new update, I really don't mind most changes, it's just a matter of getting used to it, but there are major issues (see previous feedback posted by myself) that is making my uni life unnecessarily tedious. It now takes me at best an extra half hour to finish lecture notes and such (I only handwrite as I learn best this way, as do many others) as the interface is so inept compared to the previous version, and having 4 courses and 3 hour lectures a week for each course (not including readings, research, assignments, summary notes, etc.) just makes this change far more damaging than it ought to be.

    Please recognise the value that we, as consumers, users, and supporters of this product, have not only in making you profits but also in helping you make the product better and more accessible for users, not less.

    I really hope you listen and fix the MANY issues in version 7.0.4 ASAP as I don't want to have to find another program for my education. I deeply want to continue using and supporting this business, but this has hurt my confidence and comfort in using the app.

11. Apple Pencil latency needs to be reduced

    Easy to replicate - write absolutely anything and you will see a gap between your pencil tip and the ink appearing on-screen. Mine is about half a second behind on the newest iPad Pro M4 13-inch with a Pencil Pro. This should really be optimized.

    Running iPadOS 26 with Goodnotes 7.

12. Writing text on drawn boxes

    In the recent update, everything fell apart. I strongly recommend a HCI team that conducts research on UI properties before making radical changes to the whole experience. Some strong changes can deter existing users!

    Also, just like the android phones and the iPhone, please make the experience almost identical in some areas, as it encourages migration according to users needs without hesitation. For me, the only strength for Goodnotes is its backup and sync feature. So make sure the differentiation on that front is robust, while slowly improving other features. How does this help? If notability users also see that transitioning to Goodnotes is a smooth and intuitive transition, with the rudimentary operations almost similar, this will undoubtably drive traffic to Goodnotes.

    Complains on recent updates:

    1) Drawing bounding boxes before writing vs writing before drawing bounding boxes are now different !!!:

    The operation of drawing the bounding box first, and writing text on top, now corresponds to writing on a piece of canvas, hence when attempting to erase the box being draw, it erases the entire content within. However, when the reverse order happens, erasing the box doesn't affect the text written. Apparently, the new update introduces a notion of order in writing. This is bad, as there is no clear visual indication that a piece of illustration fall in what order. This means the user has to painstakingly remember the correct order to write, or risk erasing everything when attempting to edit just the bounding box being drawn. This makes the experience extremely cumbersome. Please revert to the older version, where bounding box is just another piece of writing, with no notion of "background", "foreground" items. This is extremely counterintuitive and non obvious. Make them disjoint and independent, so that users have the liberty to draw the box first, and include text, or the converse.

    If you really want the canvas option, do it as a separate tool, with visually distinct opaque background. This at first glance of the user, know how the edit operations should be like.

    Thank you Product managers. Please make this a priority.

13. Request for Page Navigation Keyboard Shortcuts on iPad

    Hi Goodnotes Team,

    I am a heavy user of Goodnotes on iPad with a Magic Keyboard.

    I would like to suggest adding keyboard shortcuts for page navigation, such as:

    Next Page: (e.g., Cmd + Right Arrow)
    Previous Page: (e.g., Cmd + Left Arrow)
    Go to Specific Page: (e.g., Cmd + G)

    Currently, I have to manually swipe or tap the screen to turn pages even while typing, which interrupts the workflow.

    Having these shortcuts would significantly improve productivity for users who use external keyboards.

14. Audio Recording | Exporting and Importing | Delete portion of Audio

    One of the reasons I haven’t switch to GoodNotes:

    One of the key features of this app is recording in (iOS). Therefore, there should be more features when recording. THERE SHOULD BE OPTIONS FOR EXPORTING AND IMPORTING AUDIO FILE. If imported, it should be able to summarize it as well. NOTABILITY has this options. Also when recording sometimes there is 5/10 minutes that there is no one talking (many reasons). There should be an option to be able to cut/delete portions of the audio file. Just like notability. Thank you.

15. Smarter Lasso Tool

    When using the lasso tool to select a drawing or handwriting area, it would be great to not only change the color but also adjust the line thickness for all selected elements simultaneously. Additionally, adding an option to either preserve the original stroke thickness or scale it proportionally when resizing would offer much more control and flexibility.

16. Custom fonts are harder to get to

    With the new update, it takes so many extra steps to change the fonts to custom, downloaded ones. There’s the modern, classic, and technical options so it would be nice to customize that so there’s a top 3 fonts, but it sucks to have my fonts be more inaccessible!!

17. Creating stable internal links

    When a page that has a text link to another internal page is duplicated, the link in the new duplicated page does not work. This means that it is futile to create page templates because every time the page is duplicated, all the links need to be updated.
    I understand that page order is the reason stable links are a challenge, but if the reference page to which the link is pointing is above the duplicated page, the order of the reference page has not changed. At least make this functionality possible, with the understanding that if the position of the reference page moves, all links to it will be broken. Perhaps to offer some kind of solution to the moving reference page issue, having the ability to lock the reference page would solve it? Thanks.

    Direct API Integration with Notion! I use Notion for organizing my personal life, school, and work. But I love handwriting notes over typing so Goodnotes has all my planners/notes. Right now I am unable to embed Goodnotes in Notion, but this would be extremely helpful!!!! Please collab!
