Opacity for the pencil tool
The base opacity of the pencil was changed with a recent update and it’s too light to be used normally now. Add a way to change the opacity so I can make it darker than is currently allowed so I can actually see what I’m writing.

previous/old GoodNotes Toolbar and make the Apple Pencil Quick Toolbar customizable
To make working in GoodNotes smoother and more intuitive, it would be incredibly helpful to allow users to switch back to the previous toolbar layout. Many people are used to the old interface, and sudden design changes can interrupt established workflows. Offering an option to toggle between the new and previous toolbar would give users more control and make the transition easier — especially for those who rely on familiar tool placement to work efficiently.
In addition, having a fully customizable Apple Pencil quick toolbar would significantly enhance the user experience. Everyone uses GoodNotes differently: some focus on highlighting, others…

Eraser Tool
Please add the eraser tool back to the floating toolbar in macOS. It was there with all the other writing tools, but it now only appears in the main toolbar at the top of the screen. I am a classroom teacher who uses Goodnotes for instruction, so having these tools available in the floating tool bar would be most helpful.

double click to activate text box
There was a time, in a previous version, where I could double tap a mouse or trackpad and a text box would appear. It would be great if that could return as it makes for a more seamless experience.

New updates are glitchier/less smooth than previous releases!
Writing using pens is glitchy, I see the line or letter I am drawing flicker from visible / invisible, drawing shapes is terrible and can't be rotated! Erasing seems glitchy with shapes too.
Please revert back to old releases until the bugs are worked out on these new algorithms, because the writing process is now, at this point, user UNfriendly.

Please return the Timekeeper and Bookmark to before the update
After the update, the timekeeper is hidden and the time seems too small, so it's uncomfortable. Please return the bookmarks as well

Request for this update
The context can be strange because I use a translator. Please understand.
1. Laser points written as lines have become less readable since this update. Please go back to before the update.
2. I wish I could modify the sidebar. In my case, I don't use pencils well and often use nooses, so it would be convenient if I could add nooses to the sidebar. And I set it to change to the tool I used automatically if I use the eraser, but after this update, if I use the noose and choose the handwriting tool again, the eraser will…4 votes -
audio
The audio playback feature is inconvenient because when I switch to another tab and come back, it doesn’t stay at the original playback position.
Also, I hope the audio playback feature can include a function to jump directly to the note position.3 votes -
Lock the pencil toolbar in place
I would like to have the option to have the pencil bar, that opens while I am using the pen tool, always in place. So that it stays when using the lasso for example.
That way I would save a step because I rarely need the same pen/eraser I used before the lasso. Also it is really distracting when there regularly is the movement of it popping up and going away in my screen4 votes -
Worst
When I try to write with the keyboard, the text doesn’t appear right away — it’s like the touch input isn’t responding properly. This kind of issue feels unacceptable, especially for a note-taking app. Previously, I could simply tap and type immediately, but now I have to tap, type, then click twice on the screen before my previous note ends, and even then, I need to press the keyboard tool or “T” again to start typing a new note. It seems like whoever designed this update has never actually taken notes during a lecture. This update added unnecessary steps —…

More customer surveys and research before large changes to UI
I have been reading a lot of feedback from the new 7.0.4 update and there is a clear consensus among all users I saw who gave feedback that this update has worsened the user experience. As a university student and researcher, I found this app to previously be the best in the market by FAR (especially as you used to offer the lifetime payment option, which I prefer over subscription based services). I think it's important to offer this option as I am under the impression that this has been removed. I also feel that there was not enough communication…

Apple Pencil latency needs to be reduced
Easy to replicate - write absolutely anything and you will see a gap between your pencil tip and the ink appearing on-screen. Mine is about half a second behind on the newest iPad Pro M4 13-inch with a Pencil Pro. This should really be optimized.
Running iPadOS 26 with Goodnotes 7.

Writing text on drawn boxes
In the recent update, everything fell apart. I strongly recommend a HCI team that conducts research on UI properties before making radical changes to the whole experience. Some strong changes can deter existing users!
Also, just like the android phones and the iPhone, please make the experience almost identical in some areas, as it encourages migration according to users needs without hesitation. For me, the only strength for Goodnotes is its backup and sync feature. So make sure the differentiation on that front is robust, while slowly improving other features. How does this help? If notability users also see that…

Auto Refine Handwriting Feature
I'd love if this was added, Apple notes has this feature and it has made me consider switching over. It's so much easier than using text boxes to have nicer writing in your notes. I also like that it still looks like my handwriting, just nicer, not a font. I enjoy reading my notes in my own handwriting instead of fonts because it's less like I'm reading a long essay.

Lasso tool should not activate automatically
Lasso tool should please not activate automatically while writing (ie after drawing a line and clicking it to make it longer or shorter), requiring tapping the pen tool to return to writing

Smarter Lasso Tool
When using the lasso tool to select a drawing or handwriting area, it would be great to not only change the color but also adjust the line thickness for all selected elements simultaneously. Additionally, adding an option to either preserve the original stroke thickness or scale it proportionally when resizing would offer much more control and flexibility.

Custom fonts are harder to get to
With the new update, it takes so many extra steps to change the fonts to custom, downloaded ones. There’s the modern, classic, and technical options so it would be nice to customize that so there’s a top 3 fonts, but it sucks to have my fonts be more inaccessible!!

Image and elements select without lasso tool
With the new update, you can’t click on the image or elements tool to edit just those items. The buttons are just for adding new images into the page and that forces you to use the lasso tool to edit them. This is horrible for someone like me who uses a background image as a template and kept the image lasso off to not accidentally mess up my whole page. Please change it back! Or FINALLY give us a lock layer option so that we don’t have to select everything to get one image!!

Highlighter Grouping
I often use different sets of highlighting colors depending on what I’m working on. It would be very helpful if Goodnotes allowed users to create and save groups (or palettes) of highlight colors. That way, I wouldn’t need to manually change the highlight colors each time I switch tasks or subjects.
