1. Rubber in the main menu

   If you use for example the new forms and switch to the rubber by tapping your Apple Pencil and then you open the Pencil Menu, the rubber is selected.
   I would prefer the rubber as an independent tool like the powerpointer.

2. fix autoadvance

   fix auto advance so eraser stops getting triggered every time you go to write on the blue section, it happens every time even if i don't try to trigger it and it's driving me nuts

3. Setup Logitech Creative Console for Goodnotes

   Logitech Creative Console is a device that is programmable for navigating apps i.e. Adobe, Photoshop, Zoom etc. However there isn't an available template for Goodnotes, it can be programmed by each individual user, however it would be fantastic if one were available for all Goodnotes users.

4. Non-Deletable Handwriting

   I need a feature in GoodNotes that allows certain handwritten text to remain undeletable, even when I use the page delete function.

   When I solve the same workbook multiple times, I mark whether I got each question right or wrong. The problem is that when I use the page delete function to clear my messy work and keep only those markings, the previous right/wrong marks get deleted as well, which is inconvenient.

   When the GoodNotes AI sidebar is set as a floating bar, I’d like to request an option to pin or lock it in place.

   Currently, if I tap anywhere outside the chat—such as the page itself or another UI element—the AI chat UI disappears. This makes it difficult to read the answer I just received, or to quickly check the page while formulating a follow-up question. Often, the sidebar disappears before I can continue, which makes the purpose of the floating bar unclear.

   It would be very helpful to have:

   A pin/lock toggle to keep the AI sidebar visible

   An auto-hide timer option, such as:

   10 seconds

   30 seconds

   1 minute

   2 minutes

   Never auto-hide

   These options would greatly improve usability and make the floating sidebar much more practical during studying and note-taking.

6. Passive and Selective Voice Recording

   Add the option to have an active recording going on but not actively saving every bit of the recording. Only have the recording save when I click a specific button, and it will "catch" the last 1 minute of audio and record that on the page I'm currently on.
   I often find myself in lectures wanting to catch the last 30 seconds to 1 minute of what my professor said, but it's too late; they've moved on, and I can't start recording now because I missed it in the first place.

   I got the idea from Steam gaming actually. Where it passively records the last hour of gameplay you've had but only saves the past minute when you specifically prompt it to. The 1 hour of the recording is kept for a day before it is deleted, leaving only the chosen recordings you want so you could modify the 1 minute you chose to be recorded.

7. more shapes or different shapes

   In the new goodnotes 7 update the shape tool does not do sharp right angels and the draw and hold feature does not give perfect right angels so they should add this as a feature where your able to choose on a "natural shape" or a "precise shape" and when you try and draw a circle it does not give you an option on if you want it at an angle anymore this also goes for a trapezoid if you want a trapezoid and you use the shape tool or the hold feature it gives you a rectangle. So in order to fix this the rectangle you draw should come with those angles and a prefect trapezoid and then if you select it it becomes a prefect rectangle.

9. Auto-Capitalization BROKEN

   This isn’t an idea, but a broken part of the app. Currently, when a text box is made and anything is handwritten into it, the text is not capitalized, even if there was no way to misinterpret the letter. For example, it is impossible to mix up an uppercase G with a lowercase g, yet anything typed with an uppercase G will be switched to lowercase, including the beginning of the sentence. Please fix this! It didn’t used to happen. I currently have to go into any text box I make and erase the first letter, pull up the keyboard, replace it with the correct letter which I wrote initially, and close out the keyboard again. Any settings which remove the auto-capitalization should be easily accessible and impossible to mistake, as a notetaking app should never experience such a basic issue as failure to capitalize a sentence. Please fix this IMMEDIATELY! If anything should be top priority it should be this. Thank you! I look forward to seeing the solution to this very very very soon!

    Currently, the pen settings provide only fixed percentage options for sliders such as:

    Pen Tip Sharpness (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%)

    Pressure Sensitivity (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%)

    Pen Flatness (0%, 33%, 66%, 100%)

    For example, pen tip sharpness can only be selected from preset values like 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100. However, I would like to set more precise values such as 65% or 80%.

    This limitation is especially noticeable with pen flatness, where the selectable range jumps directly from 66% to 100%. I wish there were intermediate values available (for example, 80%). The current options feel too restrictive, leaving very little room for fine-tuning.

    For users who prefer detailed and precise handwriting control, it would be great to have:

    The ability to enter exact numeric values, or

    A continuous slider with finer granularity, similar to stroke stabilization settings.

    Providing advanced range controls would greatly improve the experience for users who rely on detailed pen customization.

11. making new line with dotpoints

    when I’m writing to convert to text, when tapping to make a new line when using dotpoints it converts to modern size 24 rather than remaining in the same font as i was previously using. this same issue does NOT occur when not using dotpoints. If this issue could be fixed i would love it

12. Enhanced Text Formatting for Flashcard Learning Resources

    Would it be possible to enable richer text formatting within the text fields of the flashcard learning resources?
    Currently, the flashcards do not support advanced formatting options such as text colors, font variations, or styled layouts—features that are available in regular text documents within GoodNotes.

    Allowing users to customize text with colors, font styles, and structured formatting would greatly enhance clarity and memorization, especially for students who rely on visual organization in their study materials.

13. Apple Pencil or 3rd-Party Pencil

    I am partially posting this to see if others are have this issue or if it is just me. I have two 3rd-party "Apple Pencil", one of which I only used once to verify it worked and maintain as a backup in case something happens with the other. The primary one I have used for over a year now with no issues. Since the most recent update at the beginning of October (toolbar was a horrible choice, side note), and more than half of my strokes misregister or do not register at all (best way I can explain it). I tried my other pencil assuming something was wrong with my primary one, and the issue still continues. I tried messing around with the pen settings and stabilization, nothing changed the issue. It is almost impossible to write a few words without this issue's continual occurrence. I used this app less than 24 hrs prior with no issues. I know my handwriting is bad, but it is not THIS bad. Is this happening with anyone else or just me?

15. Frustrating UI decisions and unaddressed bugs since Version 7

    1. Text Selection Bug: This issue has persisted since Version 7. When I long-press to select text and then interact with another function, I cannot simply tap once to deselect/cancel the selection. I am forced to select a different character first before I can click to cancel. I expected this to be fixed after multiple updates, but it hasn't been addressed.

    2. Pen & Lasso Tool Placement: Hundreds of users have pointed out the issue with the Pen tool not being accessible alongside the Lasso tool. Does the development team not realize these two are frequently used together? If you need to group tools to save space, please consider grouping rarely used items like Stickers, Sticky Notes, and the Laser pointer instead.

    3. Straighten Text Feature: The feature that straightens handwriting keeps appearing and disappearing randomly. What is the plan for this? It is an incredibly useful feature, even if it is currently unstable/glitchy.

    4. Menu Bar Position: When selecting text, the context menu appears randomly—sometimes above the text, sometimes below. This leads to accidental clicks constantly. I have reported this multiple times, but it is still not fixed.

    Are you waiting for users to switch to a better competitor app? This is extremely frustrating

16. Bad Performance compared to Apple Notes

    When comparing writing in Goodnotes with Apple notes, Goodnotes fells like the stroke limps behind the Apple Pencil (Pro) when writing. Trust me. Go in Apple Notes and you never want to use Goodnotes again.The Goodnotes 7.0 update is nice but please fix this first!

17. Capabilities for Andorid and Windows

    It would be nice if Android and Windows finally got the same capabilities as Apple. Adding new fonts, uploading stickers, and many other things unfortunately don't work at all. This has been a known issue for years.

18. Drag and Drop from PDFs to notebook while removing background

    While in split screen, it would be very useful if we were able to drag and drop images between windows as a PNG. For example, if I’m reading a neuroscience PDF textbook, i want to be able to click and hold a diagram, drag it to my notebook page, and drop it without the white background. Currently, you can only copy-paste screenshots. We should be able to remove the background. other apps can do this and I would rather it be in goodnotes.

19. Universal Object Menu / Quick Selection

    Please make both of them optional.

    I mainly use the lasso tool to move objects around and the "Universal Object Menu" that constantly pops up at random positions is so distracting. I keep hitting things I do not intend to while moving around objects.

    Same goes for the Quick Selection. I regularly import screenshots or pictures with the intend of writing notes on them. I do not want them to be selected every time I accidentally tap on them while moving the view of my document. I was able to deactivate this feature before, why is this not possible anymore?

20. Small sticker option

    When using stickers, I would like to make them small as they are then the right size if using them regularly, but the quality reduces so significantly this isn’t possible, and I have to resize them every time, which is time consuming, and the inconsistency in sizing is annoying. If there was a way to increase the quality it would be great.
