Sin, cosin and more clean shapes
Please introduce the ability to draw more variation of shapes, others than Lines, polygons, circles, ellipses and parabolas. Me as an engineering student would love to draw different curvy lines. I would recommend to add like 3,4,5… order polynomials and what really should be introduced is an easy and efficient way to draw sin and cosin.

Better tools and more tabs
There should she a text selection tool for copying text
Other apps have an underline or strike through tool, even a squiggly line underneath
On the same notion, the highlight right now is draw and has to be paused in place to make a straight line but a new tool could be added that specifically highlights text only and is perfectly aligned with the text instead of overlayed
It also you be nice to be able to create hyperlinks in the text so when you click on it, it jumps you to a certain page, and maybe include a return button. Sometimes text books reference an image several pages away that taxes time to locate.
Handwriting to text would also be a welcome addition
An audio recording feature could also be useful
Lastly, I wish I could keep more pdfs open. Being in med school, sometimes I need more references open than the app allows for.

convert
Hello GoodNotes team,
First of all, please excuse any language errors in this message.
We wanted to share some feedback about the Math Conversion feature in GoodNotes, which we find overall very impressive. The ability to convert handwritten text, graphs, and mathematical equations is extremely useful. It is even possible to directly copy the LaTeX output to paste it elsewhere, which is a great feature.
However, we have noticed one limitation: when converting mathematical equations, it is only possible to copy the LaTeX output line by line. This can be quite tedious when working with multi-line calculations.
It would be very helpful to have a preview window for Math Conversion, similar to the one that already exists for text conversion, that would allow users to copy all the converted equations at once in a single action, rather than having to copy each line individually.
This small improvement would greatly enhance the workflow for students and professionals who regularly work with multi-line mathematical calculations.
Thank you for considering this suggestion, and keep up the great work!
Best regards

Favorite Templates
There much templates to choose from… but most of them I don’t use. How about choosing favorite templates which you can choose on the top. That might speed up the workflow.

Counting stickers
It seems like we can create stickers and stickers are kinda like stamps. I am hoping to create stickers for various typical items/issues I find while on an inspection so that I can just place the sticker as the annotation for what I saw at that location.
What would be really awesome is if there could be a legend based on the stickers you choose and it would be really incredible if it would automatically count them.
For example, I’m inspecting a house and I have a sticker that is for water stains. I go around the house and place the water stains sticker at each spot on the floor plan. Then I could select an option to create a legend where it would show the sticker, show what it means, and tell me how many there are.

Lock North Direction
Being able to lock the orientation of the notebook or page you’re working on without having to lock it for the entire iPad.
When I am marking up a floor plan, I have to lock the iPad so that I can orient the floor plan to match what I’m seeing. It would be better if I can lock this in Goodnotes instead of the iPad.
Bonus would be if you can lock the page/notebook to the actual north direction. The phones already have a compass to where it knows where north is. If that could be linked to the page or notebook so that when your sketching or marking a floor plan, it rotates with you as you walk around to match where you’re facing.

Improve textbox toolbar - remove floating toolbar
When using a text box the toolbar will drop down to the text box instead of staying by the stationary/fixed toolbar, which results in the toolbar covering the textbox, sometimes not showing up, and sometimes I must manually close the keyboard (I don’t have a separate keyboard for my IPad so I type on the screen) to access the toolbar options. In the next update please let the textbox tools stay at the stationary toolbar, and add the previous textbox menu (with only some choices such as delete and copy/cut/paste etc.) to end corner of the textbox. And when marking a word/paragraph in a textbox it would be much easier if a small menu popped up close to the marked text like previously, with copy/cut/paste/delete etc. Also please remove the default switch to lasso, it’s just unnecessary and annoying, I appreciate the update with “pin text tool” but it must be clicked every time going back to text box after other tools have been used. And finally for the fonts, previously it was possible to easily access the different bold, thin and regular formats for a specific font (Chalkboard SE) , but now you have to first search for the font again and then go to the format choices, which ruins the workflow. I added screenshots with little comments to make it more understandable I hope, please read them! Thank you :)

Grading Instructor-uploading
I think it is critical that an instructor upload version be provided for grading important paper exams. The instructor would upload a PDF with batches of exams. Based upon a template, the batched PDF would be split into submissions. Then each submission would be sorted to the appropriate students and go through the grading process.
This would be useful in cases where students don't have easy access to iPads/styli. Or, where teachers are giving paper exams and don't want students to handle the submission process.

The recognition speed for drawing perfect lines, curves, and shapes is too slow.
The recognition speed for drawing perfect lines, curves, and shapes is too slow. Would it be possible for the software to automatically identify the image and turn it into a perfect shape after I draw a relatively rough line? Otherwise, a lot of time will be wasted waiting for the drawing to become a perfect shape.

Apple Pencil Integration
Goodnotes should add a native option that lets the Apple Pencil Pro double tap switch between specific tools like pen and shape with no menu steps, no delays, and no forced use of Apple’s default actions. The app should give users a simple tool toggle setting inside the Apple Pencil menu, where you pick two tools and the double tap flips between them. The app should also expose these tool switches as actions in the Shortcuts app so users can build custom automations. Adding this feature would make Goodnotes feel more fluid during fast sessions and would use the Apple Pencil Pro sensors in a practical way that saves time.
This idea came to mind because I use the pen tool and the shapes tool the most. On keyboards, you can type “w” to go to the pen tools and “S” for shapes. Goodnotes should make it possible - through the shortcuts app to have the double click jump to one of these tools (no matter what), or even better - toggle between the two. Not just with the last tool you used because it normal is the eraser or lasso tool. If it is available in the shortcuts app, then you can assign the long press or double tap to a shortcut that can be used in Goodnotes.
Happy to explain more if wanted.

Multi-color / Dual-color pen strokes
Hi GoodNotes Team,
I'm a student who uses GoodNotes daily for my lectures and note-taking. I had a creative idea that I think would make the writing experience much more fun and unique.
Currently, the pen tool only writes in one solid color. What if there was an option for a "Multi-color" or "Bordered" pen? For example, a pen stroke that has one color in the center and a completely different color on the outer edges.
I’ve attached a sketch I made to demonstrate the idea (a light blue stroke with red edges, and another with purple edges). I think many users would love to write and highlight with vibrant, multi-colored strokes like this, rather than just standard solid colors.
Thank you for your time and for making such a great app!
Best regards,

I-cloud Synchronization Issue
Subject: Issue with macOS Update and iCloud Synchronization
I am experiencing an issue where my Mac is unable to update, citing incompatibility with the latest version. As a result, iCloud synchronization is not functioning.
The system indicates that macOS 14.5 or higher is required. However, even though I am currently using macOS Tahoe 26.4, the update will not proceed.
I would greatly appreciate a prompt resolution to this matter. Thank you.

From home page, a button to return to existing open tabs
Easy to go back to home page to find another file. But something I just want to go back to my existing open tabs. You have a home button, put a return to editing button. Right now the quickest way which is annoying is to open some random file I see on my home page to reaccess my tabs. And then I have to close that random open file.

Apple Pencil shortcuts
It would be very practical to be able to choose the tools that are associated with the double-tap function of the Apple Pencil. Simple yet very efficient feature for a smoother workflow while writing.

Video clips and more writing tools and drag and drop of specfic page to my mind map
Everything is good I mainly use Goodnotes for mind mapping my lectures the only hindrance I faced that I was not able to add video clips to my notes, and also when I import PDF of my lecture notes in good notes. I can’t just drag and drop pages from like a specific slide to directly into my Notes, which is like a another hindrance because I have to take screenshot again and again and then put it back in. Also, this one is not a criticism, but a suggestion that there could be more tools for writing. It would be great to have more tools like I used to use Freeform before to make my mind maps, but since I learned that Goodnotes have also a mind map feature, my features bought Goodnotes on my iPad and I am having a great time, but but fixing this issues would really make it the best in my opinion

Making the tabs bar condensed while writing so that there’s more room on the screen for the paper. This would also make the new toolbar more useful!

iOS Shortcuts Support for Opening Multiple Files in Split View
Add the ability for the Shortcuts app on iPadOS to open multiple selected documents simultaneously in Split View.
This feature would allow users to choose specific files and define them as a paired workspace within a Shortcut. When the Shortcut is run, the selected documents would automatically open side-by-side in Split View, eliminating the need to manually open and Split View for each file.
